Hi, I recently had a pacemaker inserted. Was told no metal detector or hand wanding.
We want to go to Disneyland Anaheim . We wrote them asking if they will perform a pat down. No reply via their on line form. We ended up using our Disney app chat feature. They replied to ask security upon arrival.
I replied would be nice to know before we drive 2 hours to find out. Shocked that Disneyland wouldn’t have a policy in place. I did ask the “chat” person for a direct email to security and she just gave me the same reply. Anyone have any experience with this at Disney? Thank you

Hmm not sure about a pat down. The only alternate method I've heard is the wand: for people with cardiovascular deficits or people who can't walk through the metal detector.

My daughter has an icd (she is not paced but they are similar and have similar guidelines). I would encourage you to a bit more research. ICDs and pacemakers in general are compatible with xray machines at Disney, in the airport, etc. My understanding is that many years ago they were not but these days there are no issues. My daughter does nothing different than we do and walks right through without issue. The big issue is actually the wand. The wand is not recommended.

You can always request a pat down instead of going through xray but it is really not necessary. So if you are worried about that, I wouldn't. They will absolutely pat you down just like they would do at the airport. If you go through the xray and they pull you for further search, decline the wand and request the pat down.

thank you mine is a dual chamber pacemaker / diffibulator. The Manufacturer BIOTRONIK and my doctor both said no metal detector and no hand wanding. I’m hoping they do the pat down and not discriminate against my situation and thank you for your reply

I would try calling or emailing. If you call and get a CM who doesn't know the answer, you could try asking for a manager. When I looked up pacemaker on the website, it suggested these numbers to call or email. Hope this helps!

My dad has a pacemaker and last year when we went to WDW he just told every security person at the front of the line and they just had him go to the bag check/pat down line. It was never an issue and I believe they run into this regularly enough, so they know how to handle it. I’m sure it’s the same in Disneyland:) Have a great trip!

Yes, I don't know what the exact procedures will be, but I cannot imagine that there will be any issues. Disney is very accommodating and people with pacemakers visit all the time. I would just alot for a little extra time and inform the security personnel who will advise from there.
