We moved in December and we don't know our neighbors at all. I really miss my old neighbors-we had a very special neighborhood vibe. So today, it snows about 6 inches, my husband is working out of town and my 14yo is sick. I look out, thinking I need to get the shovel and begin the process-low and behold, my driveway is clear. Someone around here has a snowblower and they cleared our driveway. I'm baking brownies today, so I'll make an extra batch and take it next door. We're pretty much snowed in and it's an excellent time to start the neighborhood friendship!!! I'm thrilled my driveway is clear but I'm even more excited we have at least one great neighbor!!!!!
YAY!!!!

How lovely, I wish we had nice neighbours. The only time our neighbours on one side have spoken to us in 6 years was when he crashed into my DH's car just before Christmas :sad2:

That is just awesome! Our neighborhood is like that, too, and it makes life so much better. I have 3 teenaged boys, so I sent them out to clear some driveways when we got the 25" of snow last week. It turned out our next-door neighbor was pregnant (I haven't seen her out since it's winter and didn't know) and she was home alone with her 4 year old son because her husband couldn't get home from work. She was so grateful and gave my sons some fresh chocolate chip cookies. That was such a nice gesture. If everyone would just look out for even the 2 neighbors on either side of them, the world would be a better place. They will love the brownies! :goodvibes

That was very nice! You making brownies for them is just as nice.:)

Thats so nice! My neighbors have 3 dogs that they let out to bark right by my bedroom window at 5am!

That's great! My neighbor occasionally will shovel a path in front of my house.

That's awesome!
My Uncle does the same for his whole neighborhood! They live just outside of DC and after the first snowstorm he went around and used his snowblower to clear all the neighbors drives and walkways. I knew he was exhausted after that first storm so when the second one hit I asked my Aunt if he was going to let the neighbors do their own this time. "No way!" she said. Apparently he got so many treats from thankful neighbors he couldn't wait to get back out there with his snow blower! Got to love the power a plate of brownies can have!!!

I agree!

OP, I'm so glad that you have such nice neighbors. We are the same here in our neighborhood; it is snowing right now and I was thinking about going to clear off the neighbor's drive and then our own. The neighbor on the one side is mobility challenged so my DS 12yo brings their paper to their front door every morning and we try to make sure that they are dug out after every storm. It feels good to help out.

What did he say? "Sorry we've never actually met but I've just crashed into your car???"

Glad you have nice neighbors Shortbun.:)

good neighbor
but your snowed in at only 6 inches?:confused3:confused3:confused3

We ended up with 10 and yeah, 6 inches is pretty tough to drive in and must be removed, unless you've got a hummer, lol!

We have great neighbors too! We actually share a driveway. We almost didn't buy the house because of it; however, there were so many other great things, we did. We were worried about it though. Our fears were unfounded! They are great neighbors; and the husband gets a plow through work and uses it to plow all of the driveway, including our parts. In turn, I bring goodies to them from time to time. They are really great. As it's snowing now, I'm hoping he is able to do it again. And as we are both "lifers" in our homes, we have agreed to share the cost of a snow blower if he is no longer allowed to use the plow from work.

So happy that you have good neighbors.

We have great neighbors too. The "guys" actually have an unspoken system. It is funny. There are five houses involved and they go in shifts. If my DH is out there first he hits a few driveways with the snow blower and as the other neighbors come out they "touch up" what the plows push back at the end of the driveway. So everyone usually only has to go out once. It is nice.

My DH works nights and one of my DN comes out at 6am to blow my driveway clear so that I can get out in the morning.

Another neighbor is out there now doing my driveway. My DH isn't home. This neighbor's daughter also babysits for us.

Have I told you yet that I LOVE my neighbors.
