If you have any extra prayers and Pixie dust, I would truly appreciate keeping Greg in your thoughts.
He was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer by sonagram last week.
He lives and works in Seattle now.Surgery is supposed to begin 1:45 Pacific time at Swedish First Hill Hospital..
We are praying first that the surgery goes well, and most important that the pathology results will be negative, tho statistics are against this.

I would appreciate any input from those familiar with this type of Cancer.
Also those from Seattle familiar with Swedish hospital or Hutchinsons.
Greg is my Godson and almost like my fourth son.
Being so far away from him at this time is very hard.
I have been researching and e-mailing info back and forth all week.

As a Cancer survivor myself, I don't want him to have to go thru Radiation or Chemo like I did.
But, mostly,I'm praying He does not have Cancer at all.
I love him very much and I am so worried.
Trying to keep my sister from being too scared also.

Thank you for any help you can offer.
Hugs, Marilyn

Best wishes for your nephew and your whole family. I pray you get good news!!!!!

He's in VERY good hands. Swedish has an awesome cancer center, the whole hospital is just wonderful!

I was in Swedish for a few days back in February - they take amazing care of their patients.

I hope everything goes well for him!

Marilyn, a very good friend of mine was diagnosed with testicular cancer ten years ago. He lost his testicle and had to go through chemotherapy which was pretty awful but he is perfectly normal and healthy today.

I will be saying a prayer for Greg and your family. Let us know how it goes for him.

Caryn

Prayers are being said now:hug: I also knew someone with testicular cancer, he lost his testicle too but is alive and kicking 20 yrs later with no signs of cancer.:wave2:

Isn't testicular cancer one of the most curable? My prayers and best wishes to Greg and his family.

Sending Prayers your way!! Swedish Hospital is one of the best!!! I will be praying for him!

Prayers are on the way. Please let us know if you receive an update.

Thank you for your prayers, support, and kind thoughts.
Still anxiously waiting for the phone call from his girlfriend that surgery is over.

Thanks for the good reviews on Swedish Hospital too.
I may have some more questions for you Jess and yourtravelpro ,about Seattle hotels and such.
My sister and I were going to fly out for his surgery,
but once we knew his girlfriend could take off work and be with him we felt better.
All our family is on the East coast.
We felt it would be more important to be there when the results came back .
Talking to the oncologists and going over your treatment options can be overwhelming .

Greg lives on Bellevue Ave.in the Lower union south area ,I think.
He's only been there for about six months and just got a small apt. there.
He loves it there.
He works in the computer tech. field and has had to move around alot for a job with the downturn.

Yes, Testicular cancer has a high cure rate when found early,
and depends on which type whether
you will need chemo or radiation.
Either way, they have to remove the Testicle totally to find out whether it is malignant
Type and agressiveness, staging, cts., spread to abdominal lymph nodes all will be done after the surgery.
We are worried because we just found out that Greg noticed a problem back in Nov., but waited to go to the Dr. for his Health insurance to kick in.
We pray he didn't wait too long. :(

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your caring thoughts and prayers.
Hugs, Marilyn

Just got the call - surgery is over.
Thank goodness, one step over with.

Greg is in recovery.
Dr. said surgery went well.
He won't have the pathology results till next week.
Girlfriend, Layla, hasn't seen him yet ,tho.

Please keep Greg in your thoughts for good results,
speedy healing, mentally and physically.

Thank you again,
Love, Marilyn

I also want to take this opportunity to tell all the men out there esp. those between the ages of 15 - 40 to regularly do self exams
and please get to a Dr. for a painless sonogram if anything is suspicious.

here is a link to site telling how to do that:

Good to hear surgery is over, Mar. Do hope Greg does well in the days, weeks, months ahead and fully recovers. And thanks for the link.

DH was diagnosed with testicular cancer last June - just 3 weeks before DS was born, while I was on bedrest nonetheless!

My DH just knew something was wrong and researched on the internet before his doctor's appt. So, we pretty much knew going in what it was and that it was the most curable of cancers. I think that helped alot.

He had his surgery June 4th (only 2 days after diagnosis). He had one month of radiation (just as a precaution) in August. Rather be safe than sorry.

He had a 6 month CT scan in January and so far so good!

Please PM me if you want to talk, ok?
Kristi

Prayers and good wishes for Greg. A close friend of mine's husband had testicular cancer, had surgery and chemo and did fine. It was a tough course for a 19 year old, but no reoccurrence and he's now in his 40's.

I'll keep Greg in my prayers.
{HUGS} to all of you
