My Name is Chris and I am a Fort Wilderness Addict..Updated 12/16

So this morning we left from St Mary's campground after having waffles and pancakes that they provide for campers. We drove up 95 across 26, continued up 77 until we came to 81 and Ft Chiswell. We will spend tonight here in the rolling countryside and then head for home in the morning. More pictures to follow after i get dinner made.

Day two found us headed to Hollywood Studios for some movie magic.

So this morning we left Ft. Chiswell and headed up interstate 81 fighting the wind the whole way. The new truck stayed firmly planted to the road and we had almost no sway. So now it is time to get more pictures ready to post. Wednesday it is back to the real working world. Tomorrow will winterize the trailer so it can ride out the remainder of winter.

OK, let's cover a few items related to this trip. First campgrounds. Before arriving at Disney we stayed at New Green Acres in SC. They are right off of exit 53, very quaint campground and good for a quick overnight stay. We stayed there last year also.
We then headed to Mim's, FL and the Titusville KOA, it is right off exit 223 of Interstate 95. It is a small campground, and the sites are very tight. There were a ton of full time residents. They were remodeling one of the bathhouses. Most of the pull thru sites were being used as two back in sites. Was ok.
Then after Disney we stayed at St. Mary's KOA in GA at exit 1 of Interstate 95. Nice campground, very crowded when we were there. They had a complimentary waffle and pancake breakfast for campers. They also have a pizza oven on site, if you don't want to go somewhere for dinner or cook.
Our final campground was Ft. Chiswell at exit 80 of Interstate 81. It is a nice campground, was not very crowded at all. They have some nice concrete pads for parking your rig on. Another good campground for overnight stays.

How did I do this week walking. Here is the breakdown of my week on vacation.

Sunday at KSC: 8115 steps/ 3.83 miles
Monday AK/MK: 24746 steps/ 11.78 miles
Tuesday DHS: 16159 Steps/ 7.68 miles
Wednesday MK: 21044 steps/ 9.97 miles
Thursday MK: 21930 steps/ 10.41 miles
Friday Epcot: 18873 steps/ 8.85 miles
Saturday, Half day at DHS: 8705 steps/ 4.15 miles

On monday, wednesday, and thursday we took the boat to contemporary and walk to MK from there. Since the monorail from the contemporary make the stops at TTC the Poly and GF before MK.

I showed my DW your step count...

She looked at me and said, "That's nice". If you can't tell, that tone of voice translates into, "Don't expect me to do that" :lmao:

My DW won't have an issue with those step counts. My DD11, however probably will.

DW is currently in a "Biggest Loser" contest at work. It's about 12 weeks. To join you had to pay $10. Every week you gain (even an ounce) you have to pay $1 but if you stay the same or lose, you pay nothing. At the end, the one who lost the most (by percentage) gets the money. There were about 46 people in the competition. Plus the company is throwing in a $50 Gift card for something like Amazon.

The DW is doing the treadmill 2 to 3 times a day for about an hour PLUS she is riding the stationary bike for 20 -30 minutes after doing the treadmill.

While she is not number 1 (in the weekly rankings) she is in the top 10. This walking at WDW won't be a problem for her at all.

Last night found us unpacking the trailer and getting the dogs settled down. They missed us, the littlest one wanted to make sure we were staying, the old man was just glad to see us again. It was an early night to bed as I was beat from the drive home in the gusting wind. While the truck and trailer handled the wind gracefully, it still takes a toll on the driver. Today we will finish unloading and winterizing the trailer. I have some errands to run, need DEF for the truck, need to run the car after two weeks of sitting. Downloaded photopass photo's last night and will work on adding more photo's on here later.

Wednesday did include the Behind the Steam Trains tour, and then a full day at MK with us leaving about 10pm. The park was open until midnight and we planned on staying but we had ridden all we wanted to for the day because of the rain lowering the crowd level. It never seems like you walk that much.

The crowds during this trip were not too bad, Thursday at MK was a bit busy but it did rain on Weds, so kind of expected. This is what our bus looked like on Tuesday headed to DHS and Friday headed to Epcot.

Personal bus service. We also were the only one's on a boat back from MK, during the fireworks show Friday night.

All in all I would say I was not too surprised nor unhappy with the crowd levels this time of year. It was definitely warmer then the January timeframe, but even the locals said is was unusually warm by 5-10F from seasonal temps. I will take the warmer temps. Your pictures are great, I am still sorting through most of them. I just did not feel like holding the bigger camera all day so most of mine are from my phone or my little camera. Still have a few hundred more to go through and have yet to download all the photopass photos yet.

I agree on the winds and the drive, southbound we had the winds and they wore me out pretty well. August trip I am going to schedule to work from home or take Monday off because that trip just wears me the heck out.
