I would be sure to get the best alarm system out there and make sure it has a central hookup so she can get someone there right away....they will be really ticked off after being arrested and they know where she lives!

Totally not related, but this reminded me of something that happened to us about 17 years ago. It was very early in the morning....around 5am. It was raining cats and dogs. My husband was a smoker back then and would sit on the front steps to smoke. He sad he watched this guy walking down the street, walk up our driveway, and head right to my car, which was parked in our front yard about 4 feet from the front door. The guy never looked around to see if anyone was watching him. I guess he thought nobody would be outside in the rain at 5am. Anyway, this guy opens my car door and starts rummaging around. My husband calmly said "What are you doing in my car". It scared the guy. he quickly said "This is my friend Rick's car". My husband told him "You know that is not your friend Rick's car, so you better be walking away". The guy left. It was just so strange that this was happening 4 feet from where my husband was sitting. He could not believe the guy did not see the red end of his cigarette as he was walking up or at least smell the smoke. The next day we found out the entire neighborhood was hit.

In the Tampa/St Pete area ( an older neighborhood.) I'm sure it didn't make the news. As dramatic as it seems to me, it was just a petty crime. You can go scour the news sites though to check up on the story, though I doubt you will find anything.

Im glad your mom and son are alright. How scary. How are they now. I would imagine it shook them up a little. When that adrenaline kicks in for a man...they just lose their good judgement sometimes Im glad everything turned out alright. to them.

I get the feeling you don't believe what happened. I'm sorry. Those are the details. The criminals ran from the police and one was tazed. That's not a big stretch of the imagination. Believe what you will.
