My mom's in Haiti... [UPDATE: One year later, pg 18!]

Well, thank God that Kathy at least has that litte bit of video to see to know that her mom is ok. Nancy seems to be in quite a bit of pain. Did you see that nasty huge bruise on the back of her upper right arm? She is a trooper, no doubt.

 Hugs to you, Kathy and your mom, well, don't squeeze her too hard. ;)

Wow! Thank you Kevin for posting that. With all the footage, I'm amazed anyone caught that.

I hope that plane was flying back home when it took off. By home I mean the US. I'm hopeful that she recovers quickly. She is obviously a strong person!

I am going to continue sending positive vibes, there are still a lot of folks who need it.

OMG !!! :goodvibes

I can't believe they interviewed your Mom on MSNBC !!

What incredible luck ! I would have had tears of joy and amazement rolling down my face... This is incredible.

I'm so very happy to see this... may she have a speedy recovery, in all regards.

I just found this thread...prayers for your Mom (and your entire family)! I'm glad to see on the video that she is doing alright. I hope she arrives home safely soon!

Thanks Kevin for sharing that with us.
That's so amazing- how wonderful to be able to see her on TV!
She looks remarkable- given the circumstances.

I am so glad to hear she made it to Miami and is in good hands right now.

I'll bet Kathy is already in Miami as well!

LOL!!! That's my mom!

I talked with her a couple of times this evening. She's at a hospital in Miami being xrayed and CT scanned. She's on a little bit of morphine, so talking with her is a little... disorganized. She told me they caught her at the airport. "I haven't showered in days, I have blood in my hair and this is the day they interview me on TV!"

The team has had a very rough few days. You can hear it in her voice there, but it was so good to be able to see her.

Her team of 12 wound up splitting into 4 little groups. She was in the first group that flew out. There's another small group of 3 that left from Port au Prince late this afternoon, and two people who made it to Santo Domingo. All of those groups are meeting in Miami tonight and flying back to Dallas on a private plane (We're really, really hoping Mom will be on that plane.)

Another two people were sent to Martinique somehow, I don't know how that occurred. But they're doing some emergency surgery on one of the team members who has serious injuries there now.

I'm waiting now to get the call that Mom has been released and will be on the plane tonight.

I think I'll wait until another time to show her that video. Thanks for posting it, Kevin! (It's a Small World After All, It's a Small World After All, It's a Small World ...) :)

Oh my goodness Kathy...I am so very happy to hear and "see" that your mother is alive and doing well. You must be so relieved.

I'm glad to hear the update and that your mom is safe. Continued good wishes that she is feeling well soon and home soon too.

Kathy, I'm so happy for you. Morphine makes for interesting conversations. I hope she is home very soon.

No kidding, Kim! :rotfl: She was a little giggly, and she dozed off in the middle of a sentence.

She's exhausted and overwhelmed. I'm expecting the private plane to arrive here around 1-2 AM.

I'm SO happy for you! I had tears watching her so I can only imagine how you felt when you saw it.

Glad she is on US soil and hope her recovery is quick.

Kathy, my eyes just welled up watching that news clip Kevin posted...

So glad for your family, prayers to your mom for a quick recovery and to all of her team for the same. Peace.

Oh, my! I, too, had tears in my eyes while watching the video of Kathy's mom.

The tears were for the survival of Nancy and the the other woman they interviewed who said as she trapped, her thoughts were that she hoped she would die quickly and not suffer a slow painful death. I give thanks for their lives and for their rescuers.

And I shed tears for all those who had their lives crushed. And tears for those who survived, but have lost homes and so muchmore.

I pray for recovery in Haiti and give support to those who can help them.

I'll keep her in my prayers and I am sending pixie dust your way as well

Kathy, your mom seems to be an amazing woman! I had tears in my eyes watching her interview; tears for what she had gone through and, also, for the miracle that she and her whole team made it out.

What a joy it must have been to be able to talk to her on the phone!

How amazing and miraculous that your mom and her team were not only rescued but interviewed on national TV! I'm so glad she came out of this well, all things considering.

Having been at the airport in Port-au-Prince, on a "good" day the airport is absolutely insane...can't imagine what it's like now! :sad2:
