Hi,
We're from South Texas My mom was born in and works in Mexico and has never traveled outside of Texas. I a planning a trip for the two of us to DW for next october and am really excited. I want her to have a magical and fun time. SHe's afraid of traveling so I want it to make it the best I can for her. Does anyone have any suggestions, recommendations, advice. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks so much
Orchid
PS this is my first time to WDW, I went to
Disneyland a few years back.
Hi
If your mom is a nervous traveler, try to do as much advance planning as possible, to help the trip run smoothly. Honestly, I think staying on-site at a Disney Resort, is the least stressful way to see Disney World.
I suggest booking a flight to MCO and using Disney's Magical Express, their free shuttle service right to your resort, they'll even get your bags for you. (Also offers return service to the airport. Plus with certain airlines, you can do airline check-in right at your Disney resort.) No need to rent a car, use Disney transportation around the World... no direction or traffic stress.
Decide what you want to spend and chose your resort. Read about the resorts, here and at the allears site. Also, check the mousesavers site for discounts to become available. All the resorts are great! We have stayed at Values, Moderates, and Deluxe and have enjoyed all of them. Just pick a theme you and your mom would enjoy.
If you want to dine/experience some of WDW Table Service (TS) meals, you'll need to make Advance Dining Reservations (ADR). Read menus here at at the allears site. We like to have a Table Service meal per day, and grab Counter Service (CS) for our other meals. A few of our favorites, (we book some for the food and some for the atmosphere or fun)... Teppan Edo in Japan in Epcot, Kona Cafe @ the Poly, Coral Reef in Epcot (one entire wall is an aquarium), The Si-Fi Dine In in DHS (sit in cars at the drive-in movies), Le Cellier in Cananda in Epcot, Boma @ AK Lodge, and we always do at least one character meal... (love Chef Mickey's breakfast @ the contemporary Resort.) Dining at other resorts is a great way to check them out (for future trips.

) And don't forget about the Downtown Disney Restaurants.
Consider returning to your resort for a mid-day break or swim.
Have fun planning.
