First Day in the Magic Kingdom and the Little One’s Mishap
Even after the long day of travel and shopping around Downtown Disney, I managed to have difficulty falling asleep. I couldn’t wait to get to the Magic Kingdom with my family. Eventually I must have passed out and before I knew it we received a wonderful wake-up call. Out of bed I jumped, quickly stealing a glance at my sweet little one still fast asleep. A smile swept across my face as I imagined all the fun and excitement she was about to endure. I couldn’t help but think how lucky we were to finally have our little girl and to be a forever family. I reminded myself that this vacation was a celebration and something we had waited oh so very long for! It truly had some special meaning to us. I just knew this first day was going to be one to remember.
After feasting on some donuts and washing it down with milk, we were ready to leave the Dolphin behind and head for the MK. I wanted to be there as close to opening as possible. We had the stroller, the diaper bag, the camera, the video recorder, the snacks and some juice packs. The little one had her new stuffed Minnie and Mickey Mouse that we had just given her that morning. (Note – I managed to pick up those little stuffed characters a few months before our trip for only $3.00 each at our local
Disney store. They were having a sale. I figured it was quite a deal knowing that they would be at least double that if not more there in Walt Disney World).
Anyway, we were off to the bus stop, waiting for our “magical express” to the Magic Kingdom. The little one was so excited and couldn’t wait to see Cinderella’s castle. The bus was quite crowded but a kind man offered up his seat and the little one sat on my lap. Wearing her cute little Minnie Mouse pants which I sewed (don’t look too closely or you will see all the imperfections…haha) I thought she looked so sweet and I couldn’t wait to take her picture with the real Minnie Mouse herself!

Before we arrived, I told my DH that I just had to have some pictures of the little one and her first glance down Main Street. Main Street, USA. OMG, what a site, all three of us stared in amazement and I missed that first shot! I was just so excited as I bent down to the little one’s level and pointed out Cinderella’s Castle. She flashed me a grin and said, “
It’s like a dreeeeammm”. Laughter erupted from within me and I couldn’t stop. This was a new saying for our little one, the first time being the night she tried on her new Cinderella dress. That is one precious moment that I am so thankful I was able to capture on videotape. Coming from a two year old it just sounded so darn cute and adorable. (Yes, I am partial but I still think you may have laughed as well).
Anyway, I did manage to get a few shots in as DH pushed DD down Main Street. She may not look too excited in these frames, but trust me she just didn’t know what to think or do. Cinderella’s Castle was right there in front of us and we wanted to see it all, do it all and experience it all. This trip was all about the little one so we headed straight for Fantasyland! Pictures in front of the Castle could wait, for now we wanted to experience some rides!

Looking down Main Street.
Okay so maybe I took one in front of the Castle..haha.
As we walked out through the castle she finally saw it…Dumbo! This was one of the rides we had talked so much about and she was ready to fly! We jumped in line and didn’t have to wait that long. As our turned approached, she was jumping all over the place. Yes, she was definitely excited. This excitement lasted the entire ride and the only thing she said as we flew back down was, “
can we do that again Mommy”? Aw! So yes, she had to go on it again, and seeing that there was hardly a line DH jumped on and took her for flight #2. He had graciously videotaped her first experience on Dumbo…yeah! (Since we have been home we have watched all of our Disney footage over and over again….just wait until you hear about our little one’s “
kiss” from a “
Frenchman” during the
Beauty and the Beast show at MGM Studios. I got it all on video!!!).
Waiting in line for Dumbo.
Trying to share her Minnie Mouse with the little guy in front of her.
Aww, her first ever Disney ride!!!!!
A close-up before Dumbo.
Looks kinda spooky in this picture, don't ya think? Haha.
After Dumbo, we experienced many more fun rides, including It’s a Small World, Snow White’s Scary Adventure, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and Cinderella’s Carousal. Our DD loved each and every one. She really loved the crocodile in Peter Pan; she thought that was so funny. I personally loved Mickey’s PhilharMagic; it was just totally different than anything I expected.
On the boat in "It's a Small World".
She just looked so cute here, all serious while checking everything out in "It's a Small World".
Waiting for the start of "Mickey's PhilharMagic". Notice how crowded it was?? Hahaha.
"I can do it MYSELF Mommy". LOL, love the expression and determination!
She loved the carousal rides!
Aww...her serious look.
As we toured around Fantasyland, our little one spotted her first real character…Winnie the Pooh. This was another moment I had been waiting for. Would she or would she not love the characters? As DD ran off in the direction of Winnie the Pooh, I knew my answer. Now being little as she is, she couldn’t understand why we had to wait our turn. She wanted to see Winnie and she wanted to see him NOW! She tried desperately to join the families in front of us, but I kindly pulled her back with me and waited for our turn. These are the pictures I will remember and cherish forever! To me, they simply illustrate the pure joy my little one experienced during her first trip to Walt Disney World. Completely precious to me.
Our turn finally. I love the way Winnie is reaching out for our DD.
The first handshake.
I love you Winnie!
Aww, such a sweet hug from Winnie the Pooh.
Laughing with Pooh Bear.
Wanted to illustrate how small DD was on this first trip to WDW. Love the way she is leaning into him.
