Well I hoped it wouldn't happen but my mom just told me she's filing for divorce. She just left to go tell my dad. I hope everything is ok.

aw I'm sorry .

i'm here if you wanna talk :)

My dad pretty much had it coming but im just thinking about how I'm gonna tell all my friends. I know I won't yet for at least a few weeks but I'm not sure if word will get out or not.

i know how you feel ):

you'll cope,i promise.

Does anybody here have divorced parents? I don't know how things are going to work. My dad is supposedly going to visit on the weekends (if he wants to). This pretty much means I will never get to go to Disney World till I'm out of college for sure. But that's not important right now I guess. I need some help setting my priorities straight.

my parents divorced when i was very very young, but it seriously was like the best thing that happened to them. they weren't meant to be together.

i know its hard at first, but after awhile, this will probably be very good for your relationship with your parents (if you choose to maintain it on both sides)

That's true, a lot of parents stay together just for their kids (which of course is nice of them), but it's really bad for them. Some people really aren't meant to be together, and it takes them longer to realize it.

my parents are seperating, the court date is november 23rd.

its hard.

Ive never known my parents together. They had me very very young. They were never married to even be divorced. I used to switch back and forth every other day till my mom moved two hours away. Now i stay with my dad mon-thurs and mom on weekends as long as i dont have a football game to cheer at. My mom is now divorcing my stepdad, so i am kinda going thru the same thing as you. Even though my stepdad is a crazyperson, i do know the feelings. here if you need to talk. ~Rochelle

Thanks guys. I don't think my dad knows yet because he's never home at the same time as the rest of us. I do know for sure that I will be staying with my mom though. I am not very close with my dad and if he doesn't take it the right way I don't think that I'll be keeping in touch with him much. I don't know if you guys understand what I mean by that but that's the way it is right now. My mom's lawyer said that the court date wouldn't be till the summer probably so things could change some during that time. I just want to keep an open mind if it's possible. Again, thanks guys for the help.

My parents divorced when I was young too. I still go out and see my dads side of the family about once a month, I hadn't seen them in awhile when I was young so when I grew up it was kind of awkward, but I got used to it.

It was for the better. It's tough sometimes, but I'll be here to talk if you need to. :)

Well I just talked to my mom and she didn't have a good talk with my dad. He is pissed off right now. That is apparently an understatement. I haven't seen him all day with his stupid schedule. Don't let that schedule fool you though. He can work whenever he likes and he chooses to work that schedule. I am going to wake up to him yelling at 6 whatever tomorrow morning.:headache:

my dad can choose his own schedule too, an he get up really early and comes home late :/ but his work is so busy.

your whole situation is just really crazy right now, the dust will settle eventually.

Not sure. After 16 years of my life he actually came home and started talking to me and my sister this morning when we got up for school. That is the first time I remember him doing this. I think he thinks my mom will just be ok with everything and forget about it. This weekend is going to be fricken crazy.

or, maybe he knows everything is about to change and doesn't want to totally lose you guys.

I just saw this thread. Have things gotten any better?

My parents are in the process of getting divorced as well. In many ways, I think it's more difficult to have them get divorced at this point in my life than it would have been if I were much younger. One reason is that I see how hurt both of them are, and if I were even three years younger, I would have missed it completely (when you're little, you assume your feelings are the only feelings).

As for telling my friends, I told my best friend and asked her to let everybody else know. I told her while we were driving to somewhere, so that there was a very limited amount of time we could spend talking about it.

It is a tough thing, no matter the circumstances, and I'm sorry you have to go through it too.
