UGH!

This will be long, and i appolgize

My mom has cerebellar ataxia- a degenerative disease- one of the symptoms is loss of balance control.

She fell at 650pm last night, while standing in the driveway at my brothers (where she lives). My SIL helped her up to the rear hatch area of her Subaru Forrester, (it was open, SIL was taking in groceries). She sat my mom down on the rear of the car, and mom said her butt hurt pretty bad, SIL said she turned to set the groceries down that were in her hand, and my mom blacked out and fell from that sitting position to the ground- this is when she smacked her head of the asphault.

SIL called 911 and the ambulance/rescue came. My aunt/uncle heard it on the scanner- uncles a captain in FD here...SIL called me, I was in the library at the kids halloween party- phone in car....got outside of library at 703 and had 13 missed calls from SIL...started to listen to the voice mail and heard "brandy, your mom fell, the amublance is here now, they're taking her to springfield..call me back"...

Hung up the phone at the brandy your mom fell...drove to moms, they were still there..ambulance pulled out as I pulled in. Called a friend of mine took my 2 DD's there, (couldnt get ahold of their father)...

Long story short-

sorry this got so long...

My mom has 2 staples in her head, and a double pelivic fracture, both fractures are stable, and do not require surgery.

I wanted her transfered to DHMC, which is about 45 minutes from here, however they did not have an orthapedic "observation" bed available...so.....she's at FAHC, which is 3 HOURS from here..in Burlington- I'm at the southeast corner of the state, Burlington is at the northwest corner...

She will be transfered to a rehab facility soon, but with the new medicaid waiver program here, that could take until Monday...

I got there at 2am about 20 minutes behind the ambulance, and went to a hotel from 3-6 was back with her at 630, when PT came in to evaluate her. She was able to sit on the edge of the bed by herself, and stand with minimal assistance, but when she put weight on her right leg, the pain was so bad she had to sit, as the thought she might pass out.

They have increased her script to 2 perc's every 4 hours, and we've convinced her to take them if if she doesnt think she needs them...as once you feel pain, you'll stop moving. The best way for this to heal is for her to be moving.

And now for the kicker......my SIL is pregnant, due in 5 days. She was having contractions last night, and had a ob appt today- she's 2 cm and 70%...

I dont normally ask for prayers- but if you could please keep my mom in your thoughts. with her disease, she is going to have an even harder time walking/standing etc.

I'm off to get some sleep, that 3 hour drive is a killer, and I'm heading back up at 8 tomorrow morning with DD8

update at 11:30pm.

I just called she's resting, has taken her pain meds and the script says- and stood again around 10pm with PT but did not bear weight on her right leg ....

thanks all for the prayers
