Thank you, everyone. The hugs and prayers mean a lot to me.
My heart goes out to those of you who are also missing loved ones during the holidays.
This morning I have to pick up the dog from the kennel (I can't tell you how relieved I was that they had a opening so we could travel without worrying what to do with her while we were gone), unpack, do laundry, and maybe make some Christmas cookies. Luckily, I have everything wrapped and ready to go, but we didn't bake anything yet. It would be OK for me to go to the bakery this year and buy cookies, but to dd a big part of Christmas prep is baking cookies and I want to try and make things as normal as possible for the kids. I think that's what MIL would want us to do--try and enjoy the holiday even though our hearts are heavy.
