My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

Maine for two weeks sounds heavenly! :cloud9:

It was, Jackie! :goodvibes

Have a great time!

Amanda

Thanks Amanda! We had a fabulous time. :)

Hey!
You get such great advice on your pre-trip, concerning your running.

Thanks for sharing your homecoming pictures with your dh.

Hope it was warm in Maine.

I met one of my goals, I walked the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day.
5 miles and we did it in one hour and 18 minutes.

You should do the tri-athalon with me. Danskin has one in Wisconsin, but I want to do it at WDW.

That's awesome, Marisa! Congrats for meeting of your goals. :cheer2: Your walking time wasn't much slower than my running time for the same distance. :rolleyes1

I don't think I have any interest in a tri-athalon. Not at this point anyway. I can swim, but I'm not a swimmer, you know? And the last time I tried biking on a real bike, I had the sorest bottom ever! :scared1:

We are back from our 2 week long vacation! We had such a great time while in Maine and visiting with Chuck's family in Pennsylvania on the way home. Chuck and I also had a very lovely 3 nights away in Ogunquit, Maine. I really didn't want it to end. Such a beautiful place!

I will try to get around to posting some pictures from the trip tomorrow and also share some running updates. :goodvibes

What a whirlwind the past couple of weeks have been! We had a wonderful time during our trip to Maine. The first week we arrived we were blessed with beautiful weather. We weren't so lucky the second week, but we still enjoyed our time. I think Chuck and I both fell in love with Maine again - just a little bit. ;) It's hard not to when you visit New England during the fall season!

The first week we visited with family and got in a trip to a lighthouse (Pemaquid Point). We also went apple picking and played miniature golf.

Then it was time for Chuck and I to get away for a few days. As we drove away from my parents' house, I did feel a bit of anxiety about leaving the boys and Baxter. I wasn't worried about them, but more concerned that it would be too much for my parents. But, once we arrived in Ogunquit, those feelings quickly disappeared.

We stayed at the Beachmere Inn (we stayed in room 223 if you want to see pictures). We spent most of our time eating delicious food and relaxing with books while staring at the gorgeous view. We also visited another lighthouse (Nubble Lighthouse) and hiked a mountain. It was some much needed reconnecting time for Chuck and I. Our time alone together in Ogunquit was definitely my favorite part of our trip.

This was the view from our balcony - we sat in those blue lounge chairs every day and read our books.

We ended our trip in Pennsylvania visiting with Chuck's family for a few days. It helped to break up the long drive home.

to be continued...

So, the big question is...

Did I do any running while on vacation???

The answer is YES! :cool1: :cool1: The first week I ran twice at my parents' house. I had brought my Garmin along, but unfortunately the battery died and I forgot to bring my charger. I decided to not worry about speed or distance and just have fun.

While in Ogunquit, I knew I needed to run 5 miles. I was supposed to do it the weekend before. Since I didn't have a way to guage my distance, I just figured my average speed and how long it would take to run 5 miles. So, Chuck and I ran on the beach for roughly 67 minutes. What a great space to run! It went very well. Chuck kept track of the run/walk intervals (5:2) and he helped push me in the end so that I finished faster than I started. I felt great afterwards!

However, I didn't run again until yesterday - almost two weeks between runs. :sad2: But, I'm back on track now and all is good. :thumbsup2

The exciting news is that my first race is a week from Saturday! :cheer2: I'm getting more excited as the time gets closer. Now I need to figure out what I'm going to wear. :rolleyes1 I'm trying to decide if I should wear the race t-shirt or not. I probably wouldn't normally, but since this is The Race for the Cure, I really want to wear pink. Decisions, decisions...

As far as half-marathon trip news, Liz went ahead and booked our room at Pop. :woohoo: I'm hoping to book my flights soon. If everything works out, I will fly to Orlando Friday morning and come home Sunday evening. I also need to figure out what kind of ticket I'm going to purchase when I get down there. I need to decide between a 1, 2, or 3 day pass - or none at all! All depends on how much money I want to spend.

If I don't get around to posting anything this coming week, you can be sure I will post after my race next Saturday. :thumbsup2

 all your pics from Maine. Beautiful! Glad you had a great time and got some alone time with the hubby. Sure looked relaxing.

It's rumored there is another Military ticket coming out so you may be able to use that.

Don't you need the active duty person with you when you use it though?

How exciting with your first race coming up.

Beautiful pictures, I think all your boys grew a foot over the summer. They all look so much older.

I booked my room for the Tri-athalon next Labor Day. Free dining. I think it is bad to have free dining, when I will be participating in the race. Food is definately not my friend.:rotfl: nor my stomache's.

My in-laws live in Reading.

You were only about 1/2 hour from me.

Your pictures were beautiful and you have such a good looking family. I am so glad you enjoyed your time. It makes me want to take a trip to maine. Its gorgeous!

Great job on getting a few runs in and for getting right back on track when you got home. You look wonderful and are doing an excellent job.

The tri-athalon is at WDW? I hear ya on the free dining! I have the same issue with the dining plan. I rarely order dessert when I eat out, but when it's included with the meal... :rolleyes1 Love the pictures in your signature! :)

Thanks Lindsay! Southern Maine is so beautiful with that rocky coastline. We did see some foliage on a trip a bit further north. I just wasn't able to get any pictures.

Sounds like you had a great vacation! You weren't too far from me! I'm really glad you got to spend that time with Chuck. After him being gone so long, I'm sure it was really needed!

I can't get over how big the boys are now!

Good luck with your first race! I'm sure you'll do great! :goodvibes

Sounds like a great vacation! I'm so excited for your first race! I can't wait to hear the report!

Beautiful pictures. It had to be so nice just sitting in those chairs enjoying the peace and quiet.

The boys are getting noticeably taller. You are going to get passed up pretty soon. ;)

Good luck with your running.
