My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

You are doing great! Great, I tell you!

I'm a runner (cross country in college) and trust me, I think you have more perseverance than me!

Great job getting on the treadmill! Don't worry about not hitting the 25 minutes. Just keep chugging along and eventually you'll get there. And don't be afraid to modify the program. If you think it will work better for you just add 1 minute per workout. Sure it will take a bit longer to get to that 25, but you'll get there. Just figure out what works for you!

That's my plan. :thumbsup2

You'll get there. Remember just starting out, did you ever think you could run 20 minutes, 10 minutes. You'll be going even longer than 25 minutes in no time.:goodvibes

I say that to myself whenever I get discouraged. :goodvibes

Good for you for sticking it out until 20 minutes! You'll be at 25 in no time. :thumbsup2

I have great days with my eating and then not-so-great days. The important thing is to hang in there and don't give up! The successes feel SO good! :goodvibes

I think realizing that if you're really in it for the long haul (a lifestyle change, not a diet) then you are going to have good days and bad days. The point is making the majority of your days good ones. :thumbsup2

5 minutes shouldn't be too hard to add after another few tries at it. LIke you said... it's not doing the program letter perfect, but giving it all we've got! :thumbsup2

I'm sure it will get easier running for these longer segments. My body will adjust just like it has for the past two months. :cheer2:

I love your perseverance!:thumbsup2

Thanks J

Wow. You guys are such a great cheering squad for me. :grouphug:

Visited your blog-it's great-you're one busy lady(where do you find the time superwoman?). Tried to leave you a comment but think I mucked it up-anyway I love the idea of travelling by book and so have decide to follow up some of your stuff about australia (loved it there).
Taking the boys on a treasure hunt to find all my old aussie artefacts in the attic. Thanks for the ideas:thumbsup2

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! I did get it. I have it set up so that I have to approve each one before it shows up. I started doing that because I got the occassional spam and couldn't figure out how to delete them. Your comment is showing up now.

Have fun! :goodvibes

I have a feeling I'll be visiting your blog often-makes me wisk I lived in a bigger country which is weird because I haven't visited all 32 counties here yet!:rotfl2:

I'm actually encouraged that you struggled with the 25 min run. I really struggled to make it to 20min! I don't feel so alone now!!! I've been listening to the Dis Unplugged podcasts while I run. They're quite funny and a good reminder of why I'm doing this!!!
You can do this!!! Your perservance is an inspiration!

Cool! Have you heard of letterboxing? That's a really fun family activity. It's similar to geocaching, but it's older (and began in England I believe!) and involves stamps. I have a letterboxing 101 post on my blog.

I'd love to live where you do! So much to see and do. But, I'm the same way. I'm always wanting to travel to other countries, but there is so much of my own that I have never explored.

Are you on Facebook? You can become a fan of my blog on FB and every time I post an update to my blog, it will show up on your newsfeed.

Glad my struggle helps you. :rotfl: I know what you mean though. I sometimes have a difficult time reading the C25K thread because I see so many people saying, "It was easy!" Then I get discouraged that I struggle so much. And people saying they go so slow when everyone goes faster than me. :rolleyes1

I am on facebook (albeit I'm the sad-dack with about 3 friends:rotfl:) I only joined to keep in touch with 1 of my australian cousins but will now become a fan of yours:worship:
Hadn't heard of letter-boxing until I looked at your info-don't think it goes on here but then people probably wouldnt leave boxes here because whilst it's peaceful (most of the time) now we still get occassional (very very rare thankfully) bomb scares!
Sounds like fun though. I still haven't managed to get back to running-hubby working late these days so no baby-sitter! Weather woeful so even going for a walk is nigh on impossible:eek:
Keep up the good work though! How much weight/inches have you lost since you started? We need another "after" picture:thumbsup2

Sorry you haven't been able to run (or maybe I'm not :rotfl: ).

I'm still at the 12 - 13 lbs lost since I began. Taking those almost two weeks off from working out and indulging in some foods I shouldn't have slowed things down. I've only measured my waist and I've lost about 3 inches.

I did have my son take a picture of me yesterday since it had been about a month since the last one. I didn't see a huge difference, but I'll post it later today. I have to take our cat to the vet this morning for a teeth cleaning and then come home to run.

I thought it was time to take another "during" photo to compare since it has been over a month since my last picture. Yesterday I had Sully take a couple of me. I don't see a huge difference from last month, but the jeans I'm wearing are too big for me now and I have to wear a belt with them or else I'm constantly pulling them up (not a real attractive move). And the shirt is much looser on me than before. I wasn't going to bother posting the picture here, but since Moira asked, I will go ahead. Since January, I have lost about 12 - 13 lbs and 3 inches on my waist.

My plan today was to try and run for 21 minutes. I'm pretty sure I did, but can't be positive and if I did, it wasn't continuous. Here is what happened...

Remember a while back I ended up accidentally pulling the thingy out of the treadmill which makes it stop dead? Well, I'm not sure how long into my run I was (I was covering up the clock with a towel) when I pulled it out again. My guess was I had done at least five minutes so I planned to run for another 16 minutes and call it good.

I had my cell phone on my treadmill because I was expecting the vet's office to call me about Oreo (she was there getting her teeth cleaned and they were going to call me and ask if I wanted all of these unnecessary extras. :headache: ). I just knew they'd call while I was running and I'd have to talk all out of breath. Again, I'm not sure how long I had been running for, but I'm guessing it was at least ten minutes when they called. I answered and continued to run and hey - my breathing wasn't too bad! :thumbsup2

And then I pulled the stupid thingy out again and the treadmill stopped. :sad2:

I started it back up, finished my call, and ran for another five minutes. So, no clue how far or how long I ran.

The good news is I felt great during the run and might have been able to make 25 minutes if I hadn't messed up twice. I was watching my recording of American Idol from last night and it helps so much to have the TV to focus on.

Oh! And I ran the final minute at 5.0 instead of 4.0. It felt so good to go that fast. Until I felt like I couldn't keep up and was going to go flying off the treadmill. :rolleyes1

So, even though I can't really count today officially, I think I might be able to complete day 3 on Saturday. :cool1:

“The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't."

~Henry Ward Beecher

My totals for today:

No clue. :sad2:

I don't know. Will Stitch be joining us? :confused3

I'm sure he would be glad to make a trip to the park to see you guys....:cool1:

He also told me that if you need any help in planning your trip to let him know.:thumbsup2

You look great Carissa!! Isn't it great to feel the difference in the way your clothes fit? Even if it's hard to see on the outside, you KNOW something is happening. :thumbsup2

I still need to get some "during" pics taken. Thanks for the reminder! :goodvibes

all caught up and on the changes....sounds like a good plan and glad you had that back-up planw/ Liz so you don't have to room alone.

Disney is still a wonderful motivator and you are doing such a great job:thumbsup2 Glad you can still squeeze in the couples times away in Maine and Disney will still be around if you and Chuck ever want to try going together again.

J~

Oh no...I wish! That's my goal....45 pounds from my start weight. It's actually 46. I'm only halfway there...I've lost 23 since January.

You look awesome! Keep up the good work!!!
I think I'd fall over and die if I ran at 5.0! :worship:
