My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

You DID rock it!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

That is just wonderful. Enjoy the weather, it's just been LOVELY here too! We can tell Spring is around the corner, all the allergies are acting up. :lmao:

Ok...off to Pilates! I haven't done a class in 3 years or my DVD in months so this ought to be interesting.

I know from FB that you did your pilates so - good for you! :cool1:

I can't wait to get outside,
have a great off day, and enjoy the hike.
I'm betting you will see how much stronger you are when you hike.

Getting ready to head out shortly. The younger two aren't the fastest hikers so not sure I'll actually get to appreciate my newfound fitness. ;)

You Go Carissa! You're doing such a great job! Congrats on the weight loss..that's so nice to see, isn't it??

Love the Couples itinerary. I like that you are doing some new restaurants and taking it easy. What a great way to enjoy Disney!

I can't believe Chuck has never done BTMRR or HM! You'll just have to show him what he's missing!

Loved watching Shaun White in the halfpipe.....AMAZING!!!!:cheer2:

Chuck has always been nice enough to stay with the younger ones while I went on those with Sully. I think he'll really enjoying getting to try everything out if he can go. :)

:rotfl: I don't think he'll care what I look like at that point! ;) But, that is part of what motivates me. He is also working on losing weight and building more muscle. I think the day he arrives home is going to be one long day. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:So true, so true :):rolleyes1

Today I just happened to be wearing the same outfit I was wearing in that before photo of me that I posted earlier in the PTR. I was really able to notice a difference in my body so thought it was time for a more current photo to show what working out regularly and eating better can do. :thumbsup2

I still have a ways to go, but seeing the changes I'm making in my body has given me a big boost today and will motivate me in the weeks to come. :woohoo:

Way to go Carissa! I'm sure it's nice to see & feel some of benefits from the hard work you've done!

I was finally up for attempting the jackknife challenge yesterday - my abs are hurting today!

I did! I used to do it 3-5 times a week and then hurt my neck skiing and have never been able to to do it again, regularly without feeling it in my neck.

Or at least that's what I tell myself.

The truth is NOTHING gives me the results Pilates does for toning my body. The other truth is, it was easy to do it when I was a single mom, in the evenings after the kids went to bed. Now...it just bugs me for some reason to try and to it up in Taylors room with the kids bedrooms right there, them interrupting me if they can, Jeff banging in the kitchen.

I could do it during the day right now. No good reason not to. But I don't. I don't like to work out in the house anymore is really what it boils down to. The doing it at home, for whatever excuses I have, just isn't working anymore and hasn't in about 5 years. I do it. Sporadically at best. Not enough to count for anything. And often, I am really not doing it at the level I should or could.

About 3 months ago they finally added it at my gym but it's been on nights when Jeff has a class. This weekend they started a Saturday class that actually works for me. So I went. I don't think I've ever done an hour long class before, I think the one at my old office gym was only 30 or 45 minutes.
It was great but I could tell it had been a while lol! I did appreciate that the instructor said at a couple of points "shaking is appropriate here".

:rotfl:

Then yesterday I did something I'd been thinking about for a while. I went to a Yoga class. Of course I had my times off. Well actually I didn't, apparently the instructor always runs late.

I thought the class was either at 10 or 10:15. Got there at 10 and it had already started so I jumped in. It went to 10:30. Turns out that was an intro class that started at 9:15 but went late. Then there was an "all levels" class after it so I decided to just stay. It was supposed to be from 10:15-11:15 but instead ran 10:30-12. So somehow I did 2 hours of yoga.

I've never done yoga before.

I'm not really sure what I think of it but I do know this. My flexibility is horrible and always has been. My balance is getting worse as I age (supposedly it changes at 40?) and I know those things need serious work. And as much as I might prefer the straight weight training, or just riding the bike this would be a better way for me to go to tone for all the other benefits that go with it as the weights and bike do nothing to loosen me up.

So did I love the yoga? No, not really. I am really inflexible and after the pilates on Sat I was shaky on a couple of moves in a big way, it was HARD! Would it be good for me to stick with it? Yeah, it would. Probably the best thing I could do for myself. So I'm going to try to stick to a minimum of 1 class each Zumba, Pilates and Yoga a week. Ideally Zumba and Pilates twice but that will really vary by week based on Jeff and the kids schedules.

We will see. I slept like a rock though :rotfl:

You look GREAT! that is so exciting.

Wowzers! You are one sexy mama! Seriously, you have changed a lot- I can see it!!! Keep it up, and you'll have a cat calling problem! ;)

Woohoo Carissa!!!! I am SOOOOOO proud of you!!!!! :woohoo::thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm proud of myself and feeling great! :cool1:

Thanks Amy :) I've done the jackknife challenge 3 times now so that means last time I had to do 30 of them in order to win the challenge. :scared1: It'll be a while before I can do more than that. As it was I was having to help lift my legs with my arms by the end. :rolleyes1

It's all about finding what works for you. I gave up trying to do workout "tapes" years ago because I know I don't stick with it. Walking was the one thing that I enjoyed and did consistently the past few years. Buying the wii was a great thing for me because I really do enjoy the workouts with it and adding in running has been a great challenge.

Your plan sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Thanks Liesa :goodvibes Chuck saw my picture on Facebook and his comment was, "Uhm, when are you picking me up from the pier???" ;)

See? He thinks you're a hot chick too! (not that you weren't already, but I think it shows more when you're proud of yourself and working hard to look great! ;))

That's great that you're seeing results already. That helps with the motivation!

It really does! To work so hard and not lose weight or see any changes would make it really difficult to continue on. This has been a big week for me in seeing results and I'm so motivated to keep on! :woohoo:

That's very true. I have been very down on how I look for the past many months and I'm sure he gets tired of hearing it. Confidence can be very attractive.

You look fantastic!!!!

Keep up the good work!!!!

I would say more, but don't want the DH to kick my Asian.....

Thanks Jordan  Chuck doesn't get bothered by that stuff usually. Which is a good thing since he has a flirtatious wife. :rolleyes1

Congrats! You can really see the difference between the 2 pics.

Thanks! I really didn't think my body had changed much until I compared the two pictures. :goodvibes

To you maybe...:rotfl2:

:rotfl: Most of the sailors I know are of the computer geek variety. So, not very scary to me. ;)

Of course, I think my man is very tough and manly and protective!!

(Figured I should put that in there in case Chuck reads this. Love ya, hon!)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: GO Carissa!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

You look fantastic!! Keep up the great work!

Thanks Missy! How's it going for you?
