I know from FB that you did your pilates so - good for you!
I did! I used to do it 3-5 times a week and then hurt my neck skiing and have never been able to to do it again, regularly without feeling it in my neck.
Or at least that's what I tell myself.
The truth is NOTHING gives me the results Pilates does for toning my body. The other truth is, it was easy to do it when I was a single mom, in the evenings after the kids went to bed. Now...it just bugs me for some reason to try and to it up in Taylors room with the kids bedrooms right there, them interrupting me if they can, Jeff banging in the kitchen.
I could do it during the day right now. No good reason not to. But I don't. I don't like to work out in the house anymore is really what it boils down to. The doing it at home, for whatever excuses I have, just isn't working anymore and hasn't in about 5 years. I do it. Sporadically at best. Not enough to count for anything. And often, I am really not doing it at the level I should or could.
About 3 months ago they finally added it at my gym but it's been on nights when Jeff has a class. This weekend they started a Saturday class that actually works for me. So I went. I don't think I've ever done an hour long class before, I think the one at my old office gym was only 30 or 45 minutes.
It was great but I could tell it had been a while lol! I did appreciate that the instructor said at a couple of points "shaking is appropriate here".
Then yesterday I did something I'd been thinking about for a while. I went to a Yoga class. Of course I had my times off. Well actually I didn't, apparently the instructor always runs late.
I thought the class was either at 10 or 10:15. Got there at 10 and it had already started so I jumped in. It went to 10:30. Turns out that was an intro class that started at 9:15 but went late. Then there was an "all levels" class after it so I decided to just stay. It was supposed to be from 10:15-11:15 but instead ran 10:30-12. So somehow I did 2 hours of yoga.
I've never done yoga before.
I'm not really sure what I think of it but I do know this. My flexibility is
horrible and always has been. My balance is getting worse as I age (supposedly it changes at 40?) and I know those things need serious work. And as much as I might prefer the straight weight training, or just riding the bike this would be a better way for me to go to tone for all the other benefits that go with it as the weights and bike do nothing to loosen me up.
So did I love the yoga? No, not really. I am really inflexible and after the pilates on Sat I was shaky on a couple of moves in a big way, it was HARD! Would it be good for me to stick with it? Yeah, it would. Probably the best thing I could do for myself. So I'm going to try to stick to a minimum of 1 class each Zumba, Pilates and Yoga a week. Ideally Zumba and Pilates twice but that will really vary by week based on Jeff and the kids schedules.
We will see. I slept like a rock though
You look GREAT! that is so exciting.
