Just back from a wonderful stay at Pop Century! We’ve already decided to stay there again next January with our friends! I wanted to give a quick review of our stay for anyone considering Pop Century.

If you have ANY questions, I would LOVE to answer them!!!

We found the resort very easily. For those of you who are driving, the directional signs on the roads are excellent and we never even came close to getting lost. As we got close to the resort, we could see the bowling pins from the 50’s section poking up over the trees. It was so exciting! The Pop Century sign at the entrance was so bright and cheerful; it was a great way to be welcomed to the resort!

The CM at the gate was very nice and wished us a magical day as we pulled away – now we new we were officially at Disney World! We easily found a parking spot in the check-in parking lot. As we walked into the Classic Hall, we were greeted by the cheerful, bustling noise of happy, excited people rushing through to the Everything Pop food court and shop, the check-in area, and arcade. There were several people browsing the special displays in the lobby. Pretty much every other person we saw was wearing Mickey Ears of some sort. It was so exciting to see them all in the Disney World spirit! Check-in went very smoothly. We got the room we wanted in the 80’s section! After we had checked in, we went back to the car and drove a short distance to the 80’s parking lot. We were in building B with a view of the computer pool! DH is a computer nerd… Er, I mean a computer fan. Hehe. So he LOVED this section of the resort. I was so glad he liked it! You know how husbands can be… So hard to impress at Disney World!

***Side note***

I had never realized this before, and I have never seen it mentioned anywhere before, but you can see the WDW Welcome signs from this building!!

Our room was very clean when we walked in, and we had no problems with Mousekeeping at all during our stay. Our sink was broken when we came into the room, but DH called Mousekeeping and it was fixed when we got back to the room that night.

The transportation to and from the parks, DTD, etc. was very efficient. We never waited more that a few minutes for a bus the whole week. The buses were also very clean, too.

The Everything Pop Dining area was one of our favorite meals on the trip! The food was fresh and yummy! It did get very busy at night after the parks had closed, but the lines went very fast and the CMs were very friendly and helpful. There is a huge variety of foods – everyone should be able to find something to eat. There were also a lot of DDP snacks available here. DH couldn’t believe some of the things that were counted as snacks!

Here is the Mediterranean wrap and the Chicken Alfredo:

We also got the refillable mugs, of course. They are so wonderful! It was quite cool on our trip at night and in the mornings, and having hot chocolate to keep us warm was great! We found that adding an Andes mint to the hot chocolate made it taste much better!

The resort itself is great fun to explore. The little Disney touches here and there make it very magical. We spent some time just walking around here on our first day. It was so relaxing and exciting at the same time!

Some people may be concerned about the number of children/noise level at a value resort. First of all, I know this is Disney World – children are everywhere! We didn’t really think there were any more children at POP that at any other resort at WDW. We visited several deluxe resorts during our stay and there were WAAAYY more children at the Poly and WL than there were at POP. Especially on the beach at the Poly; there were a lot of kids out on the beach playing in the sand and on the hammocks. Please don’t misunderstand me! I’m not complaining AT ALL about the number of children we encountered, I just wanted to give some information to people who might be concerned. I’ve seen posts on here before asking about children/noise level, and I just wanted to give some information!

As for the noise level… We were in a room facing the computer pool and noise was never a problem. Now, we could hear people at the pool, but it wasn’t disruptive or anything, and it usually died down before 10 or 11PM. I’m not sure about the Hippy Dippy pool area.

I highly recommend Pop Century for anyone who is on the fence about staying here. Like I mentioned before, we’ve already decided to stay here in January 2008 when we go with another couple – some of our best friends! We feel that the rooms are plenty big for four adults; especially considering the small amount of time that is actually spent in the room – or at the resort at all for that matter!

We also felt that is was a very central location in WDW. Some of the other resorts – AKL in particular – seem so far away from certain places, like DTD. The bus ride was also very short from POP, no matter where we were going. I suppose some of this could depend on the bus driver, but we still felt that this was a good location.

So, all in all it was an excellent trip, and we can’t wait to stay there again!

If you have any more specific questions that I didn’t answer, pleas feel free to ask! I just love talking about WDW!!

Thank you for the great review of Pop! It's great to get the new views and angles in your pictures!

Thanks for posting your review and you pictures ar e nice too. Did you drivein from Knoxville? IF so how long did it take you? We may drive next trip since Delta seems a little expensive for a family.

We actually drove from Knoxville to Jacksonville, FL, then from Jacksonville to WDW this time. Last year when we drove straight to WDW from Knoxville it took about 9-10 hours, leaving around 9AM on a Friday. It depends on the traffic, rest stops, how fast you drive, etc. We love driving and taking road trips. We'll definitely drive again next year. Having a portable DVD player and some car games helps a lot. It's also nice to switch drivers every couple of hours to break up the drive down.

Thanks for your post! We are scheduled to stay at POP in April. We stayed at ASMovies in 2004 and thought we wanted to stay there again -- but it wasn't availalbe so chose POP. Glad to hear a good report. Our reservation is for a preferred room -- so that is in the 60's area, right? Or does that mean you just get to choose once you get there? Either way, I'm sure it'll be great. I just can't wait to get there!

We love POP, too! Thanks for the pictures. If you have more, post them all. It'll help us hold out until we get there...in six more months.

We (meDGrandma, DD, DGDs (9+13) are staying at POP Aug 22-28. We did not pay for a preferred room. Which non-preferred blg. is closest to the bus/food court. Which would be the furthest?

Thanks for the reassurance ! I will be booking our rooms there this weekend and I wasn't sure what it would be like. I am hoping to get rooms near the big wheel. My 2nd top priorityis that, my first si conneting rooms! My MIL is going to be in a room wiht the 3 older kids and we'll ahve the youngest but I would love to go out at night and leave all the kids to go to bed early and not have to move anyone.

Yeah! Thanks for your review DH and I will be there in a little over 2 weeks. No kids yet so it is just the 2 of us! We are getting very excited for POP!

Thank you for the review and pictures. My friend and I head down to Pop Century on Jan. 24 for 7 nights. We've never stayed at that resort and look forward to trying another Disney property. My long term goal is to stay at all of them!

Thank you for the review, :thumbsup2 We booked Pop for early May and I was really worried about how much we would enjoy a value resort, I have stayed at the Coronado and really liked it but it was booked up for the times we needed:sad1: It sounds like you had a really good time good:banana: so I am not so concerned now:yay:

Hi
thanks for the review. I love seeing pictures of the resorts. You took pictures at angles that showed me so much more of the resort that I have ever seen before.

What a great review!! I am booking a surprise trip for me and my 14 yr old daughter, and were considering the this place. Can you compare this to the other value resorts? Would you stay here over the All Stars?

TIA....Lucy
9 days and counting!! SURPRISE!!

Super review and great pictures.

I am SO EXCITED!!!!

We leave tomorrow....arrive on Saturday!!! Staying at POP!

Great review and especially great pix! Did your room have a hair dryer and iron? I've read conflicting info online about whether they were in room or you had to request.

Great review. Very informative. We're heading down February 9 for 8 nights at Pop. We've never stayed at a Value before, but I just thought the theming was cool and wanted to try it out. I'm glad you had a good time.

Did you use your car much or was Disney transpo sufficient?

I know you liked the 80's, but what other areas/buildings would you suggest to someone who wanted a quiet room and wasn't particularly concerned about the walk to anywhere? (DD12 would like to be in the 50's or 70's.)

I think you arrived during the day. We're driving in from Sanford at about 11:00 p.m. Are the signs good even in the dark? (I'm going to get lost!)

Thanks for your help. Loved your post! :cheer2:

Thanks for the reassuring post. I booked POP 2 days ago and have been on the fence about changing it. Now I am really excited!!!

The preferred section is the 60's section. We stayed there in 2005. It has a very fun theme! We loved it!
