My Little Pony at Once Upon A Toy

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows how much it costs to "build your own My Little Pony" at the Once Upon a Toy Store?

At the end of April it was $18. We did a potato head but DD is now into ponies so this is a must for our January trip!

It was $18 in October. It is so worth it. There are disney princess and tinkerbell costumes. DD 8 and myself did to boxes, (one for her friend) we got 3 ponies, one of each outfit (i think 6) hair accesories, a bed, blanket, and shoes camera and mickey bar in each of the boxes. They can be bulging you just have to be able to close.

You get a box and you get to choose which items to stuff inside.
With some creative space management skills you can stuff LOTS of stuff inside your box. The DISNEY accessories are the cutest!!
She picked a minnie outfit, cinderella outfit, a boombox, icecream cart, 3 mickey ice cream bars (1 for me)
mickey balloons, shoes, disney head accessories (headbands, ears, crowns, veils.) She got ALOT of stuff.
It's a fun thing to do. I think my DD will get a set next time.

The best thing to do is find a nice CM who will help you cram everything into the boxes. A very sweet CM came over while DD was packing her box and showed her how to fit everything in a certain way so she could get as much as possible in her box and still have it close. We got everything DD wanted, except the big teacup. The box did pop open when we were checking out, but the CM at the register just winked at us and said, "I didn't see that!". It's really a great deal!

Has anyone got a picture of one of these? I am not familiar with them.

My son is into Legos and Knights, but he also really loves "cute" toys (he bought a Jasmine doll at Disneyland and it kept us company for the trip, playing nicely with his Bionicle warriors in our room )

For kids not into My Little Ponies, they also have Potato Heads.
There are Disney accessories for them too.
When we went at the beginning of this month, the Potato Heads were the same price as the ponies.
The concept is the same...stuff as much as you can into a box.

For $18 I managed to squeeze into one box:

boombox (really plays music...cute)

sugar bowl and creamer

Ariel skirt and princess hat
Cinderella skirt and princess hat

Minnie Mouse skirt and mouse ears hat

Minnie w/veil ears hat
Belle skirt and princess hat
(3) ruffly tutu type skirts
TinkerBell skirt

(2) barettes with ribbons
antenna type Mickey ears headband
Mickey sunglasses
(3) crowns
(2) blankets
(2) beds
and one pony!

Could I ever do it again? Probably not, but it sure was fun! My box closed to check out, but it did tear. I asked the CM if it would be okay to take a new box with me to repack in since it was a gift and she said that was fine. I didn't even try to get everything into the new box.

Where is 'Once upon a toy' store? Can you buy them anywhere else? I am going next week with the girls and would love to bring a 'kit' back for my dd.

Once Upon a Toy is in DTD . I did see the MLP station somewhere else but I dont remember where since we had already stuffed a box in DTD

LOL, yes, even I was surprised, but DH does call me the packing queen. We take an amazing amount of 'stuff' on vacation with a minimum amount of luggage. I work wonders transporting all the Christmas gifts home from the grandparents' houses. DH will say there's no way I can fit it all in the car...but I do! I couldn't get all the pony stuff back into the new box though. Once I unpacked it was like a map...no going back. I fit everything except the tea pot and cups back in, but had I crammed those in I would have broken the box I think. The trick is to use every available space. If you can stuff something into the picnic basket, like Minnie ears, do it. You can also fit a hat into the sand castle. I put the beds on the bottom of the box, upside down, but first I checked to see how much space would be left underneath and filled that with the soft clothing items. More clothing went into the underside of the beds, then the pony, then I started packing around the pony. Good luck, it's really quite fun!

My DD's did these during our last trip. We brought their ponies from home and just loaded the boxes up with accessories. I can't remember them all, but a few I remember

mickey bars
juke box

Some other cute stuff. My advice: skip the pony and stock up on Disney exclusive accessories

It was too late for this trip, but I had the idea of not getting a pony (DD has tons at home), and getting extra accessories. Could not do it this year, DD could not have played with her new toy without a pony. Next year I will be sure to bring ponies from home in our suitcase and get lots and lots of accessories and outfits. The ponies are not anything special (Disney).

We did this and we certainly got our $$$ worth. We came home with one of each of the ponies, 2 outfits for each, slippers for each, a juke box, an outfit for each of the 5 ponies my daughter had at home already, brushes for each, barrettes, and more....

The trick, like mentioned before, is to use all of the space. Dress the ponies before you put them in. Put a pony in the bottom of the box and fill in the spaces between their legs, by their heads, etc and put another pony or hard item in and fill the spaces again. If you have a bed or anything with an open space, fill that space up as well and set it in the box with that filled space down and continue to fill in the gaps. As long as you can close the box correctly, that is all that matters....well, and not have it tear at the seams. My daughter's box bulged and they did not care because it closed.

Are these ponies the "regular" size My Little Pony or are they larger? Any pics?

Heather, they are the normal size ponies. Just like the ones you would find at Target, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, etc.
