OK, just bought "The Princess Promenade" for DD2/12 and we watched it for the third time in two days. DH wants to know the dealio with ponies. Why do little girls like ponies?

I tried to explain to him that they have colored hair, sparkly rumps, cute names like "Wysteria", "PinkyPie", "Minty" and my favorite, Sunny Daze" :hippie: .

Then there are the Breezies, little fairy-like ponies. The only thing better than fairies and ponies, I said, are flying fairy ponies. So then he wanted to know how new ponies are made and why there are no stallions. :stir: I explained to him that in the 80s, there were these Clydesdale-like ponies on the show. Anybody remember them?

I bought DD 8 ponies for her birthday as well as the amusement park. DD takes her Easter My Little Pony everywhere.

Am I becoming a Mylittleponyholic? Luckily, Hasbro doesn't make as many Ponies as Ty Co. made Beanie Babies. And Crocs only have 17 colors in the Beach style ... Can anyone help me explain why My Little Pony needs to be in our house?

Just because...it's a girl thing! Since when do we need a LOGICAL reason for any of our obsessions?

Along with the Littlest Pet Shop thread earlier - DD9 was also addicted the MLP. Luckily, she is out growing these as well. I would guess we have 30 MLP. DD loves horses.

She would play with these for hours, and all of her friends loved that she had so many when they played together. DD would also play with them in the pool and in the bathtub.

I fall into the trap of buying these things for her as well because of the ahhhh factor, and as a single purchse, they are a reasonable toy, but when you wind up purchasing one (or more) every week (because I am a sucker and don't know how to say no!) it does get out of hand.

I had My Little Pony stuff when I was little! My first book bag was purple with 2 of them on it!
Watch out, because I still have a pony, but he ain't so little. :p

Do they still have the one with apples on its butt? I think it was white, but I can't remember.

B/c a stallion in pastel and with a cutesy wootsie name--just wouldn't seem so stallion-y. pirate:

My girls love MLP. They got their aunt's old ponies from way back when and we have since added to the collection.

They have turned them into their bath toys. After all--ponies need showers too. :confused3

I had a lot of My Little Ponies when I was a kid. I love them! Sadly, my parents had a garage sale when I was about 14 and my dad sold all of my My Little Ponies! I was so sad. I had a cool boy pony that was white with a blue mane and tail. My favorite pony was one that had wings. She was beautiful and she got sold.

I swear I remember some Clydesdales. They had furry feet. C'mon ladies of the 80s -- I know you remember the original shows!!!

Yes, of course. :) They are called the Big Brother ponies. The episode of the cartoon featuring them is on one of the discs they just released of the original series.

OMG. I remember now! Pony amnesia! I have to admit the new Ponyville is gorgeous -- the animation is really girly. DH just doesn't get it. He needs a boy. Guess we better start working on that. Even our dog and cat are females. princess: ME princess:DD21/2 :dog: :cat:

Angie: I just clicked, and DH and I are in the same room, and he started SINGING THE THEME SONG! He's playing World of Warcraft on his big computer and I'm on the laptop. Is he a closet ponyholic, too? Bet his World of Warcraft buddies would think that's REAL cute. :rotfl2:

My daughter got into these and now my fridge is covered with her Minty, Starcatcher and Rainbow Dash artwork.

I prefer Strawberry Shortcake or Hello Kitty...

I was into Strawberry Shortcake. I remember my 5th birthday party -- my mother was a professional cake decorator and made a TDF cake that had all x-number of original characters hiking through the woods. It was worthy of an award and we ATE it. I brought it up online the other day (one of my best friends lives 6 houses up from me and I was looking for the picture of us with that cake) and she "hung up" on me on AIM when I brought up that cake. :badpc: :cake:

Dang. That was 25 years ago. When did I get so old? :confused3

my niece has a whole stable full according to my dad. Arianna even has MY Minty.
