Because I am THAT mom, my kids will be getting acceptance letters from Hogwarts the week before we leave. I copied the letter out of the first book, cut a pasted the Hogwarts logo from google images, printed on some parchment style paper I already had, aged some envelopes with some tea bags, and I am ashamed to say I ordered a wax seal/stamp kit from Amazon. Luckily, my last name starts with H, so I can justify the purchase (6.95$ plus shipping), by saying I can use it from now on! ;) I even included the supply list. It came out SO cute!!!

I say I am THAT mom, my husband says I'm a dork. :rotfl2: Maybe a little of both?:confused3

Either way, my kids will love it!

I love it! That is a great idea!!! If you get the chance...scan it in and let us see what you did! We love to do little things like that to surprise our children. This year will be the best we have ever done.

What a cute idea! I would steal oops! I mean, COPY the idea, but my youngest can't ride WWoHP yet (he's 5), and I don't know that my teens would appreciate the effort. I'd love to see how it came out, though. Maybe I'll still do one for DD8. She would be so thrilled to get one!

My boyfriend calls me a dork all the time for doing stuff like this. (not for our kids, considering we dont have any)

I say if you enjoy doing it keep on keepin on! Your kids are going to be sooo happy!

For our "no kids" trip last year, dh got a welcome letter from Dumbledore himself! I bet you don't feel so weird now, do you? :lmao: I (I mean Dumbldore) included a kind of scavenger hunt list of things to look for in the shops and on the rides. I used Harry Potter fonts & parchment paper. I was always THAT mom too & now that my kids are older, I'm becoming THAT wife. Hey, we need to entertain ourselves somehow! Me, I'm THAT dork! :cheer2:

I totally would, but have no idea how to upload an image onto here!

You can open a free account with PhotoBucket and upload them there. Then you just copy the IMG code from there and paste it in your reply here. It is actually really easy! :thumbsup2

I think I read somewhere that you can order personalized ones online now too......but that's not as fun as making your own! Don't forget to use "emerald green ink"!

Awesome, Great Job, Great Mom!!!:cool1:

I also read in the last week about these being available (perhaps the ad was on MuggleNet?) - but this is way cooler!:thumbsup2

I had bought some HP stationary from the Univ Merchandise site online and mailed everyone in the group (16) their itineraries and confirmations. But your acceptance letter would have been way cooler. -- I might still do your idea. ;)

Here are some pics of the kids Hogwarts acceptance letters. I typed if straight out of book one, including the supply list. I aged the envelope using tea bags. I had the brilliant idea to wax seal/stamp it, but the "good" wax didn't perform even 1/2 as well as the practice wax they sent, so the "H" doesn't show. Also, I blurred name/address on pics.

Help! I'm sooo blind :headache: but I don't see "messages"?

After you skip the intro at the bottom it will have from left to right:

I mailed the letters to the kids today. I will be sure to let everyone know their :cheer2:reaction!

 My kids received their Howarts acceptance letters. It kind of blew their minds. My 11 y/o DS had no idea what to think. I could almost see the gears turning as he tried to figure out what this means. My 8 y/o DD was giddy! She wants to know why they are inviting her to school at Hogwarts when she is only going on vacation there. I asked her if she had any magical powers that I need to know about and she says no.;) She does now insist that she needs her own owl! She brought it to school to show her teachers. DS is just thinking and figuring on it. He is still very innocent (believes in Santa, Tooth Fairy, etc.) and doesn't know what to make of it. He had the cutest little look on his face!:rotfl: It was well worth the trouble!!!

Just read your post and the last entry by op when the kids received their letters and read them. How wonderful and brought a tear to my eye. Such an awesome thing to do and worth your time and expense. Kids are only little for such a short time and memories like this are priceless. My kids are 14 and 17 and I miss the innocence of their youth. Enjoy your trip:cool1:

LSUBabe, your letter looked great, hope you all have a wonderful time.

I just sent DS and email.
