My iPod Touch is driving me crazy

I know it is something I did, but I can't figure out how to get the control slide bar for the place in a podcast. I can get to the beginning or the end, but the control at the top isn't there for me to get to someplace in the middle.

ETA, I just gave it another hard tap and the control popped up. Technology hates me sometimes.

If it's the same as an iPhone, just touch the screen underneath the black line with the title of the podcast.

I spent days trying to figure out what I did wrong when the slide bar disappeared on my phone but a quick touch brings back the slide bar and if you touch it again it disappears.
