My husband's going on a trip & I'm nervous

Can your husband take my husband with him? :rotfl::lmao:

Yeah, that sounds awful, I best explain. I had a girls' weekend last month and I had the best time. Husband tried to do something with his friend (who has a young child) but it didn't work out. He's due for a Manly-Men weekend with his buddies and it is only fair since I've had my fun.

my husband is in the military-he has been gone for year at a time more than once-its tough at first-but you adjust and learn to be a stronger person

Get a body pillow. My husband is in the Army and he got home in March from a 16 month deployment. I put the pillow on his side of the bed and it worked. KINDA Good Luck!

I cannot stand it when my DH is gone. I just don't sleep at all. Like someone else, I read or watch t.v. until my eyes won't stay open.

I am in Indianapolis!! If it makes you feel better, I think the best emergency room is St. Vincent's. It is, however, a little far north if he needed quick action. I think Methodist would be the best downtown hospital. I am sure he will be fine though!!!

I've never been to Gen Con, but there are always interesting pictures in the paper. Some of these guys don't even get hotel rooms. They just stay in the Convention Center playing games!

My DH is retired military and I think we figured it out once that he had been gone over half our marriage at the time he retired  It took a few days for me to get used to it when we first got married but I didn't have a choice.

Now he has a civilian job where he travels quite a bit, our kids are adults and have moved on and now its just me and the dog and I love it because I just do whatever the heck I feel like doing :woohoo:

Just take it one day at a time and you'll do great!!!!!

Mom? Is that you? :scared1: Seriously, this post could be from my mom. My dad was active duty Army for 26 1/2 years, gone a lot more than he was home and now travels quite a bit for his civilian job. I'm out of the house and my brother is sorta out of the house (he's in college), so oftentimes it's just my mom and the dog at home. I'm not sure my mom would be able to handle having my dad home every night after all those years of him not being home.

He's told me about the hard core gamers who sleep around the convention center floor. Him and his buddies have a little thing going where they will pose next to the sleeping people and take their picture with them!

He's called and is having a great time, and so far no allergy problems. I called the doctor today to find out if they had the results of his blood work back so we could maybe confirm what his allergy is, but they still weren't back.

For all the people who have to deal with this regularly, I know me being here with the kids for 5 days is nothing compared to that. It's just surprised me because I've never been this way before. In my first marriage, I was home alone a lot because my ex would have preferred to be someplace else most of the time. For 6 years after I divorced, it was just me and my older son, and it never bothered me. He's so stable and always here, that I've just gotten used to him being here I guess. All of you who have to make due with out your husbands on a regular basis, to you!

I'm in Indianapolis too. Let's see there are 3 major hospitals right downtown. and more along the outskirts. If your hubby has a problem, away from GenCon, then he will be able to get help fast and I am sure at GenCon they have first aid on hand as well.

As for missing your hubby, well, I'm not much help there. :)

My dh was in the Air Force for 21 years and as many times as he's left, i've always gotten a bit nervous. For me and my kids, I find that planning fun things to do makes the fiorst day or two easier. Then we start enjoying the freedom of being able to be unstructured. then by the time that wears off, it's time for dh to be home again.. Don't worry, y'all will be fine. My dh is leaving on Monday for a week long conference and i can't wait. A little space in the togetherness can be a really good thing. Embrace it.
