I am putting together the Disney countdown chain (77 days) for my 19 month old son. As I am in my Disney glory DH goes why are you bothering Adam won't get what it's for!!! Yes, I know he does not get where we are going but he will love ripping a link off the chain every day and It helps me handle the wait for the trip! DH totally killed my Disney buzz :@(

So sorry! Just ignore your husband and have fun with your son. Sometimes husbands just don't see the "fun" parts of things like that. My DH is like that sometimes, I just ignore him and do my own thing. When he sees me and the kids having fun where he didn't think there was any - light dawns  and then he gets it. Hopefully yours will catch on that it's just fun and games!

I'm like you. I "enjoy" WDW for months before we actually get there. I plan, make schedules (constantly revising!), calendars, send emails to our group, read the boards, etc. That extends the Magic to me. Why just enjoy it for 1 week? Why not enjoy it for MONTHS? Not everyone agrees...your hubby fits in that category. My hubby has learned from our many years together to just roll his eyes, but keep mum on his opinion of my over-the-top (per him) activities.

I like the idea of a chain. I haven't heard of that. Is it just a regular construction paper chain or do you use special paper? I think I'll have my granddaughter make one!

Husbands really do not get it sometimes but your Disney Buzz will be back when you see the happiness and twinkle in your DS eyes each day as you tear off a link, nothing like the look of joy on a small childs face to feel the Magic over and over again

Have a great trip!

Dittos on what everyone else said.
Husbands can be a major buzz kill sometimes. Ignore him and keep the buzz alive. Maybe your DS won't remember but you two are spending quality time having fun. That's all that matters.

Someoene on here sent to me. Each link has a Disney character on it and says how many days. Print it on regular paper and assemble. Super cute!!!! Pm me your email or post it here and I would be more than happy to send it your way!

Yeah my husband is not one to plan or get excited about anything until a day or two before. And here I am planning, replanning, reading, enjoying the buzz.
I've been doing 1 month gifts to DD's, (21 & 24) for the last 6 months he thinks I'm crazy.
shinysparklybubbles just keep reading these and get that buzz back

Have fun with that Disney countdown chain! I know I would.... probably more than my children would have :) As a joke, make your husband one at your one week mark. Start with Grumpy! :) Happy planning and happy countdown. I actually hit my 3 month mark today Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

If it was December 1st right now, would you give your son an advent calendar so he could open the windows each day? Same thing to me. They may not understand it, but they love doing it. Just let him enjoy it. And you enjoy it with him. We all do things for our children that are as much for us as for them. The beauty is that we do this because we all have a natural need to share what we love with those we love. :goodvibes

My husband has all but forbidden me to say the word "Disney" in this house anymore. So I feel your pain!

We just use regular constuction paper...love making it and taking off a link everyday....helps the time pass

I think you are spreading a whole lot of magic on here by sharing your chain with others. The magic doesn't get killed - you just sometimes have to find different outlet sources for it ;)

I too would love a link to this countdown chain!

We just booked for Sept 2011 and I am already counting down . Our daughter will be 23 months when we go and I'm so excited! I've been picking up age-appropriate Disney things for her ever since we decided to go. The dollar section at Target has some good things right now!

Thanks in advance for the chain and happy planning!:woohoo:

Dont let it bother you!

He's thinking logically not emotionally like we do! LOL

I would just say you know honey, pls let me just enjoy this, I know he may not understand yet but it means something to me.

Have fun!

Glad I'm not the only one with GRUMPY for a husband.
My DH wanted to go to Universal instead and thinks that our 10 year old son (who has never been to Disney) is too old for Disney.

Son and I are SUPER excited and we talk Disney all day and all night.
It got to a point the other day where I told him that he didn't have to go if he didn't want to, we would be perfectly fine without him and he could go to Vegas or something.

I haven't heard a peep since.
