My Hot August DDP Intentions! Crazy???

We will be at WDW on the 16th of August for five days. We have never done August and it will be hot and steamy for sure! When the weather is like that in New England, we just don't eat huge meals. We are on the DDP since I have two bottomless pit teenagers.

I have booked two signature dinners to use our TS credits at Flying Fish and California Grill. The 3 course meals at signatures seems to be more doable because I find the quality high and the portions much more moderate in size.

The other nights we won't be ordering an appetizer for all of us, maybe one or two to split and possibly no dessert for the adults. My husband is not a sweets eater and I am working hard on eating well and taking off that last 10 pounds.

It may sound screwy because we will indeed be dining at Wolfgang Puck's and the Kona Cafe the other nights but I think it will be best for us. We'll be spending more on food but eating at two wonderful top end places.

Any thoughts about DDP dining in the heat?

Thanks goodness for these Boards!

P.S. This will be our last trip with DD. He is a non-loving Disney vacationer and is only tolerating this one because of my having to celebrate my 50th birthday in February getting radiation for breast cancer. A little guilt mongering on my part!;)

hi pennyplanner -

We, too, will be using DDp starting the 16th of August! Would you like to throw that extra appetizer to MY 15 y/o bottomless pit teenager???;)

I like your choices - we have two Signature restaurants booked as well - CG is one. I loved the FF menu and we may yet change ADR's when we get there.

As far as the heat, we are repeat August visitors - I think this will be the 4th time in August. September is not much better. I would recommend that you not let yourselves get too hungry, and stay hydrated. The more we drink, the more endurance we seem to have.

With DS on FDP last fall, we did fine w/ all our TS, but using up all the CS was challenging - even for "eaters". There's just me and my kids, tho .

I applaud your weight loss and your healing - and many prayers for thr rapid reformation of your non-Disney lover!!!

Because of the heat we are looking forward to cooling off a few hours each day at the Restaurants.
We had the free dining last year and loved the time we spent eating.

We are going August 10-20 and 3 of the days we are doing 2 TS a day.

Alfredos and Lecellier the 11th, Prime Time and Planet Hollwood 12th,
Prime Time and Momma Melrose 16th.

A lot of the fun is eating at all the great places Disney has to offer.

It will be hot but there are many places to cool off at.
Have a great time!

We are also August visitors from New England. I have had success mixing up our sit down meals on the DDP (breakfasts, lunches and dinners). I must say there is nothing better than going into a restaurant with A/C around mid-day. Eating a somewhat hefty meal, and then going back to the hotel (more A/C) with a full tummy for a nap/rest and then a swim.

I felt the worst when we would have a sit down dinner around 6:00ish, and then try to walk around the parks and go on rides....uugh! It is still hot in August at our dinner time!

Your signature meal idea is a good one and we also have two booked (CA Grill and Artist Point). ENJOY!!:)
