My pig "Cookie", aged only 9 months old, pictured below (having a bath) has had a growth in her ear for about 2 weeks. We have been treating it for ear mites (that's what the vet says it was) but i just had my doubts about the way it was growing. After visit to another vet, and an operation today we have found out that she has a tumor growing out of her skull and up through the ear canal. He has removed as much as possible but couldn't make any promises as to whether it would come back. He had never seen a similar thing in anything other than a cat. I really want her to be better but as any of you will know who have pigs they don't really rally round after operations.

I will keep you informed...

Did the vet send a biopsy away so you would have a better idea about getting better or spreading? i hope gp's felling better.

No - biopsy wasn't mentioned. I have just checked on her now (she is kept in an indoor run with her best friend Leona) and she has her head in the food bowl:thumbsup2 When we brought her home this afternoon, Leona spent about an hour licking her all over:love:

Thanks for all your replies - they mean a lot to me x

That is so good she is eating, I lost my bunny a few wks ago, I feel so bad for the one that is left but she is nearly 8 and would not like a new friend, apart from that I do not want a never ending spiral of bunnies, even although I love her and really miss him. just take every day as it comes, Lynne

Loads of :wizard: :wizard: to wish Cookie a very speedy recovery.

We miss all the piggies we've had over the years, they are such funny little characters:love:

Aww I hope she is feeling better soon, I have never had a gp, lots of hamsters though. :)

So sorry to hear about Cookie. We have had quite a few rescued guinea pigs over the years from a lady in Cambridge. The Cambridge Cavy Trust have a guinea pig hospital who may be able to help you. Sending lots of pixie dust.pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Cookie is a bit quiet today - they have been on the grass for half an hour this afternoon and she was munching away. She has a larger than life personality so we are not used to her being good!! She isn't shaking or scratching her ear....so all in all not as bad as i was expecting (I feel rough today because i couldn't sleep last night with worrying about her!!).

Thanks for all you good luck wishes and i will keep you up-to-date with her health.
