Hey! For all you camping Vets: My grandparents are giving me their old B Van and i am EXCITED!!!!!

I have not camped in 20 years...although I have never camped in a van (only tents). Not sure what to expect!

We have a lot of fixing and cleaning...but we want our first trip to be FW. How early do we need to book? Fort Wilderness has been a dream of mine FOREVER~!

Book ASAP. Up to 499 days from now can be booked. Remember holiday periods fill up quickly and they often get cancellations, so you may have to adjust your desired time or keep trying to secure what you want.

We never book more than 6 months in advance, but also do not go during holidays ever. Our next trip is end of Nov. 1st week of Dec. Sometimes we book just a few weeks in advance, but if that's the case usually have to keep trying until we get cancellations - don't like to cut it THAT close

See that you mentioned about pet loops filling more quickly. I don't know, but would think it would be the other way round. We do not camp in the pet loops (only 100-200 pet free) and seems because they are so limited that they are the ones that go the fastest - not sure though!!

Welcome to the ideal way to vacation - camping We have been going to FW since '72 and we love it Of course we go many other places too!!

We started out with a new VW camper "back when" and we had one baby, then two, and we were definitely "snug as a bug" We used it as our main vehicle, wanted to camp BAD, so we made do a few years

Of course fixing up a van camper that is 21 years old could be a challenge to say the least to make it safe, but excitement, money and expertise can go a long way

So OP, go for it, you will definitely be snug with two larger children, and hopefully you won't have to spend more than it's worth to get it ready.
Camping is the greatest with children

Oh, just realized you have a dog too - will be very interesting finding the room - good luck!!

I'm excited for you!! We have an '89 Class C, so I know all about cleaning out and fixing up

You will absolutely love the Fort! Reservations can sometimes be a challenge. Usually we book a few months in advance. Sometimes we've had to book a 30-day stay and then drop the days we didn't want. This last time, I couldn't get anything at all online, so I had a travel agent book for me (a Fort specialist), and she got me exactly what I wanted. So don't worry...there are options, but the sooner you book, the better! We always book a pet site and never have a problem with getting one.
