My Grandpa passed away last night

Hi all!!

My wife just woke me up (I work nights) and said that she just found out (from my mom) that my paternal grandfather, Raymond Frank Rider, passed away last night at a hospital in Detroit. He had been very sick for quite some time, so it wasn't completely unexpected. He was, I think, 86 years old, and had been married to my grandma for just over 66 years! In accordance to his wishes, he will be buried in St. Clair, MI (where he lived for the first 30+ years of his life) later this week.

You may think I'm nuts, but right after I found out about his passing, I thought of you guys. I knew I had to tell you what was going on.

Please say a prayer and send Pixie Dust, especially to my dad. I haven't spoken to him yet, but I just know he's taking it hard right now. He and Grandpa hardly ever talked the last past 5 years, and really needs some comfort.

Dave - sorry for your loss. Sending P & PD to give you and your family strength in this difficult time. Even when a death is not totally unexpected, it is still tough to say good-bye.

My 99 year old grandfather passed away 4 days after the birth of my second child. It was a bittersweet time for me and I was devastated that I was not able to attend the funeral. Everyone was ready for his passing but that did not make it any easier.
