Help me stick with it. i need to get back on the exercise wagon outside of work. I have previously lost 60lbs just by exercising and changing some bad habits such as desert and soda. I have kept it off for 5yrs but not really lost any more. So today I'm stating that i want to lose 40 more by the end of hte year. Entirely doable.

I'm posting here because I never visit the WISH boards and I need to be held accountable. So right now I'm off every Weds and 2 weekends a month so on my days off I will post my progress.

Right now I'm making plans for starting step aerobics. Looking on Ebay for steps as i don't really want to spend $100. Also going back to my stability ball but may opt for new workouts with that. My job at Target usually gives me decent exercise each day and we can add in walking the dog as long as its dry out.

Right now I weigh in at 241.5. Not bad, also not great. Thinking about rewarding myself with each 10lb loss. Not sure what the rewards will be though. Any ideas?

So for anybody interested keep checking back and Beating me over the head.

TIA

Just wanted to say....YOU CAN DO IT!!

Make sure you post over on the WISH boards, lots of great people with good advice and encouragement.

I am targeting myself to lose 60lbs this year. So maybe we can do this together! I started WW last week and so far so good.

Good luck! I want to lose 30 by June. We will see how it goes, so far if I can at least keep up with the working out every day and drinking more water that's half the battle.

I have also set to lose 40 lbs this year, let's do it together! Have you tried any FIRM videos? They are really hard, but I have been sore for two days. SO even though I could barely do the workout, it must be helping! I recommend taking some DVDS out at the library, that helped me decide what to buy.

WHo else is on board?
:goodvibes

We need a community board on a diet thread. :) I am actually headed out to go to the gym today. I start back at school next week, so that is when I will REALLY need you guys to check up on me.

You can do it!

Its tough to start but once you get going it feels so much better!
Im doing it too right now. So far I am down 12 pounds since Middle of December. I decided on a whole new life when moved here and thats what Im doing.

What plan are you going with? I am using www.sparkpeople.com it really helps me stay on track and I know how much I have left to eat in a day.

This is my goal too. I just ordered Jillian Micheals 30 day shed from Amazon and plan to start that next week when it arrives. For now I am eatching what I eat and drinking water.:thumbsup2

I like this thread...could be the kick in the butt that I need to just get going one small step at a time:thumbsup2

I have the FIRM. I have the old VHS ones for the step as well as the new DVD's. They really kick butt when you actually do them. :rolleyes1 I have made a commitment to get back into exercising. DH got me WII Active for Christmas (I asked for it) but I was sick right after so haven't had a chance to try it yet. Tonight will be my first test of the workout.

I love the idea of a weight loss thread on the CB! We can all use the support!

Good luck! Just wanted to say you CAN do it!! I lost 40 lbs last year in 6 months!! My goal this year is 20 more (at least), I'm down 5 more so far, so 15 more to go!!

I'd love to stick with you guys as motivation/support.

You can do it!

I am trying to lose 15 lbs by March, but a total of 50-ish lbs this year. My dr is holding me accountable...I have to go for a re-check/ "weigh in" in March. I've lost 6 lbs since Christmas doing South Beach.

I like the idea of accountability...it always helps me do better.

Good luck OP...and all the others on the weight loss wagon.

Do you own an iPhone? If so, check out the app: LoseIt!

It's a calorie-and-exercise tracker that *really* helps you get a handle on how much you're eating vs. how much you need to eat to still lose weight (at the weekly rate you choose).

My DW lost 35lbs (in about seven months) with the help of the app. And, by doing essentially the same thing with a MSExcel spreadsheet, I lost 35lbs, too!

According to the research (on which LoseIt! and other calorie calculators are based) if you burn 3,500 more calories than you eat, each week, you'll lose about 1lb of fat.

Getting 3,500 extra calories of exercise in a week is NOT easy. Losing 3500 calories from food is "easier" but you really need to know how many calories the food you're eating has. That's where programs/tools like LoseIt! and www.TheDailyPlate.com come in....

Good luck!!

Good Luck!
I also want to lose 40lbs! My family has just gotten a gym membership at the beginning of the year and I've only gone once. I keep putting off going because of my "college course load" and I still put off my school work as well. I just really need to get myself together!

You are starting almost exactly where I started! :goodvibes I was at 242 when I finally got the right motivation to get started. I plan to (hopefully) get to "One-derland" (under 200) by my birthday on March 25th. Pushing it, I know, but it's just a mini-goal I'm hoping for. I've been going to the gym, DRASTICALLY changed how and when I eat, and I'm down to 221 so far. Heck, at this point I'm not even interested in junk food; just thinking about all the hard work I've done and ruining it over a few seconds of yum... just can't do it! :thumbsup2

I hate the saying that's been bounced around lately: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels", mostly because (I'm told) it's a motto approved by the pro-anorexia sites, so I went ahead and changed it to "Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels!" I even printed labels and stuck 'em on my daily planner. :cutie:

I think the biggest change I made was that I switched to 5 - 6 small meals a day, and not eating anything after 7:30 or so. I'm terrible at "planned diets" like Weight Watchers and the like, so I'm kinda playing it by ear. I'm a lot more concious of the calorie counts of things, too!

I've been going to the gym appx 5 times a week on average; doing a half an hour of cardio on my lunchbreaks, and spending a bit longer and adding a few weights as well.

Water, water, water! Drink loooots of water; I can't believe how much better I feel since I've almost cut out my Diet Coke (I have about a can's worth a day now, as oppoed to several can's worth before). As an added bonus it's making my skin look better as well. :)

Good luck, I know you can do it! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

First best of luck and I know you can do it. I say slow and steady. But I wanted to let you know of the great luck I'm having with the wii fit. It's not too much to start, helps you do the moves right and can track your weight and BMI. You can do it for hours or just a few minutes plus there are so many things you can do like the wii dance that you don't even know your exercising because your dancing and singing.

Oh and I too say water, water, water it really helps.

You can do this!!

Hey everyone! I'd like to lose weight and get healthier this year too. I am a Pepsi-holic and am trying to switch to water, except for my one Pepsi in the morning. My goal is 60, but would be thrilled with 50, or even 40! I'm starting at exactly 200. Please help! :)

Good luck to you! I've lost 20 last year, and now have to last 10 to 15 to get off!

Hello there and good luck!

I've used Wii fit for my weigh-ins rather than WW. It saves me a bunch and I really like the exercise. I walk and do games like "Just dance".

I've lost close to 100# and want to lose another 30# this year. I feel terrific! This board is a great place for support and encouragement.

I like using my Disney trips as my goal. We are planning our first "surprise" trip for August. It so nice to have energy for all that touring.

Keep us updated on your progress!

This is a great way to accomplish a goal like this - TELL EVERYONE! Then let them offer positive and negative reenforcement, as needed, until you reach your goal.

I would also suggest a physical goal - like completing a marathon within the year. Pick one out near you or someplace that you would like to go, then start training. Again, TELL EVERYONE about your goal. Give them details - the more the better. They will ask you how your training is going. If you fail to accomplish the goal, it will be a public failure - and most people will not allow that to happen.

You can do anything! :goodvibes
