My GF review and a few random thoughts on my 9/5-9/13 stay

Just to answer Janet2k's question about the main lounge. One evening after the parks we decided to have a nightcap, but as we had the kids with us we didn't want to go to Mizner's Lounge. We were able to get our drinks there and take them downstairs- I'm not 100% sure, as I was looking after the kids, but it's possible dh ordered them and someone took them down for us. I would imagine it won't be a problem- if you ask a nice CM, they would probably serve you some drinks down there (esp as you'll be incapacitated).

Warning about quiet pool noise- we were in Sugar Loaf and quiet pool was very busy at night. Most nights we had absolutely no problem (the windows are double glazed), but there was a conference of interns for a large accounting firm on at the time. They must have had a keg party at the quiet pool, as both myself, dh and my mother were kept awake till 3 or 4 am by their antics- very loud and very annoying. It's probably a pretty rare occurrence, but be warned it can happen.

Have a great stay

Joanna

Demosthenes--

Thanks so much for your great review. We will be at GF (10 of us) to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. Our travel agent (a Disney specialist) has put us in Boca Chica--two garden view rooms and one lagoon view for my parents. This trip was delayed from April after my mother broke her hip and foot, had blood clots and sprained her knee in quick succession last winter. She can walk some but will use a wheelchair often at WDW.

How far a walk is it to the monorail from Boca Chica? Could you also help me with bus/boat times to Epcot (40 minutes), MGM and Wilderness Lodge (if you visited it).

Thanks for all your help!

The monorail was about a 5 to 7 minute walk from our room (including waiting on the slowest elevators at Disney.)

Epcot took from 30 to 40 minutes with transfers from our room to the gate. We got real lucky most of the time and rarely waited on a monorail at either station, though we rarely waited on a bus either.

MGM took about 10 minutes to and 20 minutes from.

AK took about 20 minutes to (you stop at BB on the way) and 25 minutes from.

MK was 5 minutes to the MK via monorail and 5 minutes from via boat.

WL is a 15 minute boat ride from the MK (based on my memory of staying there before).

Thanks so much for the great information in your review. I was starting to wonder if I should spring for concierge so as not to miss out (when I should really be saving that money so we could eat, too - LOL). Our trip will be to celebrate our 5th anniversary; we're going three weeks after the actual date so we can see WDW decorated for Christmas - a first for us - and avoid the crowds.

I'm glad to hear that a GV room is special, too. It has been a dream of mine to stay at GF, and we love to walk, so we won't mind having to hike from place to place at the resort (it also helps work off those extra calories). With the air being so much cooler in the evenings in December, I'm hoping we won't have much pool noise!

Is there a place to dance to the music in the lobby? DH and I hardly ever get a chance to dance anymore. We tried the Atlantic Dance Hall at the BW in July, but the music was way too LOUD....we would have been deaf in 15 minutes had we stayed.

Thanks again for the great report.
