I think that is a pretty fair price, shipped, and shipped well. We have been using a local baker for all our needs for the last 5 years. She is amazing and will do whatever we want. And that is about what we pay for a cake. That is not celebrity endorsed or shipped from Cali. I might have to contemplate what events we have coming up that might warrant this

Yes, and it was packed really well in a fancy box with ribbon and dry ice. Fed ex and UPS have gotten sooo expensive, I'm not surprised. It's probably an overnight shipping also.

If you think about it, a nice dinner out for two could easily be $130 with drinks. This cake was so special and you get to enjoy the experience over and over. I would def endorse it, but if you're a baker, I would say to find a good dupe and make it to impress. The flavors are just great. but....like I said, there chewy toasted coconut that's directly on top of the sourcream poundcake is imperative for the flavor profile. Most dupe recipes leave that out.

Ahhhh....the Rich's coconut cake!! I spent many days of my childhood, barefoot, standing on the cold marble of the Rich's bakery floor, staring into the glass cases! (yes, yes....it wasn't too unusual to see barefoot children out and about back in the 60s). I've not made the Rich's coconut cake but I agree...the recipe has many steps and you need a full day!

The downtown Richs brings back lots of fond memories. As previously stated I do have the recipe at home. I printed it one day and I swear its 10 pages.
