sounds like my situation. When i first saw my "dream dress" I thought I would never be able to get it b/c it looks like it should cost thousands of dollars, and my mom tried to prep me b4 we asked about the price so i wouldn't get my hopes up (pathetic I know!) but it ended up being under 800 and i was in shock b/c it is so beautiful! its from www.maggiesottero.com the capri lynette dress! i also agree that alfred angelo has a lot of pretty dresses!

thanks for that website! so many beautiful dresses!!! and yours is STUNNING :)

thanks pintradingwedding! I fell in love with it the moment i saw it on the internet (although I must say it was quite tricky tracking it down since its part of the new collection!)

Or CAPRI ANN ? I'm torn!

are you getting your gown in ivory or white?

thanks!

:)

btw, my gown was a 2-piece mix & match...I hope to be able to wear the bodice on our anniversary with maybe a nice pair of pants...it'd probably look fab with jeans! LOL

WOW $8000 if i could have easily afforded it then yeah i would love a dress like that.
I absolutely love my dress, its hand made with lots of detail on it. With Alterations its going to cost me about $1700.

the capri ann is beautiful too, is that the strapless one? I have scoliosis and the strapless one put way too much pressure on my back, so I ahd to go with something that had straps to take the pressure off, b/c it is VERY heavy!

i can't wait to see your gown!!!

:)

Hi PinTrading...Thanks! I will be sure to post pics and a TR after my wedding at the end of this year. My dress is made by Mon Cheri and to see it, you can go to www.mcbridals.com and then click on "bridal,", "collections," and then set 4 of 5. It is the last row, second dress, style # 14271. I don't think the Web site does it justice though! There is so much detailing on the bottice, the hem and the train of the dress.

Hi Heather...I LOVE maggie sottero gowns and yours is beautiful! When I first started looking, I thought I was going to end up with a maggie dress but then tried on my "dream dress" by Mon Cheri (see my other post for the link to the dress) and never looked back. It was also under $800 and what I LOVE about Mon Cheri is they will make the dress a custom length to fit your height (with the shoes that you are going to wear) so no alterations have to be done to the hem which is very important when you have a detailed hem like the dress I picked. It's also important for short girls like me :)

honeybun7677, your dress is so pretty! i never really thought about the hem like that. i have the opposite problem, I am 5'10"! haha. I love all teh details of your dress, i am sureyou will look beautiful! :thumbsup2

Thanks Heatherlynn444! So sweet! Yeah, there really is no reason for a girl who is 5'10" to worry about the dress being too long...LOL.

I love wedding dresses!! Have any of you thought about renting gowns? I went to my local Rent-a-Gown store and was shocked to see the rent prices on average gowns! They didnt have any dessirable gown makers at all! But i have heard that at some of the bigger cities have a better selection. For my wedding i ended up with a jessica McClintock for $600. I just loved it! I did not have the resources to buy a couture gown but i didnt even looked bc i knew i would fall in love with them! I had a set budget for under $1000 and I found several designers who have very well made gowns that fit my budget. I can safely say i tryed on about 50 dresses! I could go and try some more on right now.... :bride: How soon can one do a vow renewal??? :wizard: :bride:

You know, if we are talking about what designer makes good dresses for less. I would suggest Morilee! This company has been around a long time, because I would get my high school formal dresses from this company. I remember when i was in high school I looked at her bridal gown collections and I found one that I absolutely loved and swore it was going to be my gown...unfortunately it was discontinued long before I was even engaged. That dress was 700 dollars and I was looking at her recent catalogue and the dresses are mostly all under 1000. They are nice quality too. :cheer2:

I would be proud of you too! That's some AWESOME shopping skills if I do say so myself!

Thanks, I thought it was beautiful. Here is a pic of the back, when I tried it on (after about 100 others... :rotfl: ) it was just PERFECT!! Then, I found out the price, and that sealed the deal!!!

I absolutely love the back! how elegant!!! are you going to wear your hair up? have a veil? some veils take away from teh back of a pretty dress like that so make sure you can still see it!

$8,000 on a gown? wow! our whole wedding and stay at WDW as probably close to $8,000. i went to David's Bridal, too, to get my dress. and it only cost me $350.

I am wearing my hair pulled back, with the curls "bunched up" at the nape of my neck. Instead of a tiara or crown, I am wearing 2 antique gold hair pins at the top of the curls, if that makes sense to anyone but me... :rotfl:

The veil was included with the dress, but I don't think I am going to wear it. If I do, I might have it shortened considerably so that it won't take away from the back of the dress....

Thanks girls for the support. I was starting to waver a little on the dress itself, you know how it is. You start to second guess EVERY decision you have made thus far. You don't know how important your support is.... Sometimes, you thank goodness for the girls on this board.... :goodvibes
