My Fork and I Are Friends - Nov. 14 TR RL UPDATE 7/12 Pg. 22

Great update! F&W is my favorite time to go. I LOVE the Figment hoodie. Good choice. I'm so ready to go back. I'm a passholder too. I'm used to going several times a year. I got laid off from my job of 20+ years a week or two after I got back from my May trip. So, I decided to wait a bit before planning another this year. Thankfully I'm employed again and will have vacation time again in a few months. I'm trying to plan something now :)

That sounds like stoofvlees, which is something that my Mom and I will make occasionally. It's super yummy. You can put it on fries, potatoes, pretty much anything. It's actually a common misconception that Belgium is French speaking. The country is divided by language. More than 60% of the country is Flemish speaking, and only 33% of the country is French speaking, with the remainder being German speaking. However, the French side ran the government for so many years, and actually didn't even ALLOW Flemish speakers to even be represented in government. That happened in more recent years. Add to the fact that when the French go to the Flemish speaking side, they refuse to speak Flemish. It just adds to the misconception. Ultimately, they're kind of stuck up. :rotfl2: It's a huge issue in the country still. They really don't like each other very much.
fascinating!!

I have made a form of Booyah when the kids were little and I was home and not working. It takes time to make it so I haven't done it for many years. Danielle is right about my French.... I think it's a mental block still to this day. We were required to learn it in school and hated having to.

Great PP Pictures.

Great hat pictures. I love that super cute figment hat you had on. :thumbsup2

Great food pictures.

Great pictures of the studio. I love the way they redesigned those rooms. They look SO much better. Love the view from your little patio. I'm not usually a fan of the first floor but it looks really cute down there.

I love the grapefruit beer. It is the best. Stella is my new favorite Epcot beer. I kept buying it over in England. It was the perfect temperature. So refreshing.

Oh Popadon...always with the mouth open. Probably because he figures it is the only way he can get a word in. ;)

:yay::yay::yay: for the beer flight in Germany. Mark is so happy you agreed with him.

I want that GRATIN now!

I think, if my memory hasn't totally failed me, that Mark has that Berliner later in our trip.

And the answer is a resounding YES for teh invite for the Belgium Waffles and fries. Especially after seeing all of your pictures of those scrumptious things. Plus...we like the company.

Your photopass pictures are terrific.

I never saw that hat you tried on and Mark said you did him proud.

I absolutely love your hoodie.

Great room pics at the Villas at WL.

Yum. Just yum.

And although I read the whole report, all I really took away was a possible regional beer meet up with Kathy, which sounds like the best time ever!!!!

So excited to meet you and your mom so soon! *squeeeeeeee*

So interesting. I haven't had booyah yet... Apparently it's only acceptable to eat it from Catholic Church picnics and I'm not catholic---so. I know that the word comes to a kind of slang for the French verb for "to boil".

Up here I've heard that you can sometimes get a batch with mystery meat.. That scares me a bit. What would you want to see at the Belgian booth instead of waffles? What is the quintessential Belgian food?

Hopefully you can! It's really a great resort. I'd only stayed there once before for a short trip, so it was really nice to be there for the week. Hahahaha, I'm always to blame for the drool! This TR has a lot of food in it. Elite black card. That is too funny! So true though. If only we could get that to work on our waistline! Um, yes we will! Go Pack go!

I'll be at Lambeau too! Are you tailgating before hand??

So apparently I up and missed an update - truly sorry for that ... but I figure late comments are better than no comments ....

I like that "taste your way around the world" boarder on your EPCOT PP picture, hadn't seen that one before but definitely fits how we like to tour EPCOT :thumbsup2

I'd say you truly haven't experienced the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival until you have photographed your food resting on a garbage can :rotfl2:

I think overall Disney has stepped up their beer selection, but that is a bit disappointing what they have at the Belgium booth ... I mean, can we get some St. Bernardus or Gulden Draak or even some Duvel or something?

all the waffels look really good! Be cool if they did some mussel pots or something one year as well

Best of luck with the new camera! That is great that you will be able to just take it a little slower and take the time to get some great pictures!

Those are pretty darn cool hoodies - glad you remembered having the Disney visa at least and also glad that it wasn't much of a wait this trip to guest relations

"do you know a bus driver named Bob?!!!" :rotfl: Reminds me when people ask if I know so-and-so from Long Island as I grew up there ... um, there are literally 8 million people on Long Island so, chances are slim

You know you are having a rough go of it when you get attacked by a bed ... I mean, they aren't the nimblest of creatures! ;)

Hope you and your parents have a wonderful holiday and a very Merry Christmas!

My Mom did speak fluent French when she lived there, because it was a requirement that they begin learning it at the age of 5 in school. However, she stopped using it when she came here, and since it wasn't her first language, she lost a lot of it. She understands a lot though, just can't respond.

I'm not sure what booyah is. But I looked it up. She doesn't make anything like that, she made a form of goulash for years, but not that.

Me too! I'm looking forward to taking even more on my Mom's and my upcoming trip.

It's a fun fact. Most people would have no idea, because she speaks with no discernible accent at all. She was made fun of when she moved her, so she took speech correction.

Seriously though, my Mom makes the best fries ever.

Thanks sweetie. I'll have to make fries again soon.:thumbsup2

I'll be back to catch up soon, but wanted to say Happy Holidays to you and your family!

I am seeing quite a few new items at F & W and well as always some old favorites. :goodvibes

I think you did a great job of getting around the world once you were IN EPCOT. :thumbsup2

Hooray for the figment hoodie, that is so cute. Great thinking on the receipt instead of the card. I think after that long of a wait to get the AP I would have forgotten about the card too. :crazy2:

I was in VWL in Aug and had the murphy bed not lock back in when I had to take a look at it. The latch on one side would pop back up.

Beer, bratwurst, beer, noodles, beer, donut, beer, waffle, beer, chocolate, beer, godiva - sign me up please.

The Germany beer looks great, but agree the food not so much. What's up with the bratwurst to bun ratio - seems way off. But oh how I love the grapefruit beer. Sounds weird, but oh so good. And that waffle looks amazing. How did I miss that on our trip?

Oh, the glorious figment ride. We had to ride that lovely attraction at least 5 times last trip per my daughters request. I still can't believe there is never a line for one of the most up to date attractions in all the world ; ) Love the hoodie. Will have to see about getting her one next time, or better yet the hubby.

I still can't believe with all the "magic" of the magic band you still have to carry an annual pass around. Seems they could find a way to see you have one from the band alone.

Oh, wilderness lodge. Stayed for the first time last trip and completely fell in love. Is that a view of the bus stop from your room???

Mmmm, SO MUCH F&W! Everything looks so so good. All the Belgian waffles, YUM! The Bratwurst and the Noodle Gratin look delicious. Uggghhh, I need to go next year. One way or another I must go.

Love all the Photopass photos! You guys look REALLY fascinated by Tink haha

Yay for Figment! It made me so happy when you said you bought that sweatshirt on IG. I kinda want to get one myself :teeth: Love all the hat photos, so cute! Sorry to hear about the whole AP debacle. They really were a bit of a mess at Guest Services that day :/

LOL @ Willy Willy! :lmao: I'm going to have to listen closely for that if I sit close to the front on a motorcoach next time.

Your Wilderness Lodge villa is gorj! #dreamresort :goodvibes So perfectly rustic!

Can't wait to read about your ADR! :mickeyjum

P.S. Hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas Danielle! :santa:

Had to take a break from the DIS cuz just so sad that we have no trip in the works but had to come back to catch up on your trip reports! Love them!

I love your trip reports! We are at Disney all of the time since moving to Orlando- but I still find places from your reports that I need to visit!

It seems that everyone uses garbage cans as tables during F&W! We certainly did and the CM's keep them pretty clean.

DH and I are huge fans of those Belgian beers. So we would probably like the others that you mntioned?

I know several people who LOVED the Leek Waffle, but I just couldn't get over the fact that it was savory and not sweet. I swear i'll try it one day!

LOVE THAT HOODIE!!:cloud9:

I just returned to teaching this past September and love it, but Food and Wine is the one thing that's making me regret that decision, haha. I can't imagine being a local and having an AP and being able to be like, "Hungry? Wanna eat at some booths?" I know I wouldn't be able to try many things unless I had a good group of people with me who were willing to share!
