My Fork and I Are Friends - Nov. 14 TR RL UPDATE 7/12 Pg. 22

I am tired just thinking about your day! So many people! I love the "every person comes out trashed", true story. I got AP vouchers for the first time (in forever...) and I am a little nervous about the whole process. Seems like a lot of people have issues!

I didn't realize you were going back this week! Christmas week?! Can't wait to see your pictures!

Love the figment hoodie!

Yayyyy for return trips to Disney! Especially with all the Christmas decorations :)

"Everyone Comes Out Trashed" Hilarious and so true!

Have a safe trip and a very mickey Christmas !

Savory waffles are a new-found fave of mine - love them! I hope they have those next year at F&W!!

Best description of EPCOT ever: "or during F&W, Every Person Comes Out Trashed"... yep - sounds about right!! :rotfl2:

I can give you the measurements for the MB if that would help. I don't know which ones are active and which ones aren't, so I'd rather keep them all together. But I can certainly measure it if that would help.

That would be great, thank you! Don't worry about it until after your trip, I don't need to make them until mid-January.

And as a former CM two other common meanings of Epcot were "Experimental Polyester Costumes of Torture" and "Every Paycheck Comes on Thursday".

I loved loved LOVED that waffle. It was a great dish! I had no idea that you could get that nudel normally in Germany. SCORE! I also loved that. YAY, that's a great thing to know.

No shame in the garbage can, I've done it myself.

Love the hoodie and YAY for Wilderness Lodge!

Super annoying about the no cards though but very glad you got it fixed!

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time this August, so these pics are making me happy!

Great update! I love all of the food and wine pictures. I hope to get there at that time of year some time in my life. Being a teacher and football coach though the fall is not the best time of year for travel!

The waffles look great, especially the savory one. I love waffles, but they are not very big here in our part of the country except at breakfast. I think I need to get a waffle maker!

Hoping I can stay at the WL for my bday its my FAVORITE resort!!!

Again I blame for the drool now being caused by the waffle.

I think there is something about the cards and being a dee dee dee cause I got mine in the mail and it was black and I made a big presentation to the DBF about how he had the "lowly" gold card while I got the "elite" black card....yeah turns out my card was wrong cause it was for a seasonal passholder :lmao: he still hasn't let me live it down.

My personal favorite - Everyone's Pocketbook Comes Out Thinner! (now, if we could just get that to work on my waistline!!)

Those waffles in Belgium were my dessert of choice throughout Food and Wine :thumbsup2

You look so cute in the Figment hoodie! Love it!

And :yay: for another trip fast approaching! It will cheer you up after you see the Lions beat the Packers ;)

HAHA you are very funny Dawn. We will be at Lambeau for the game Sunday...... Will be yelling for the Green an Gold though :lmao:
Waffles are also one of my favorite choices too.

Ugh... You are making me so hungry!! I recently tried an amazing daube de boeuf recipe with Belgian ale (one of Andrew Zimmerns... Yes he eats things that aren't gross!) and now I'm going to have to make it and put it on a waffle.

That's so cool that you and your mom can speak to one another. The only time I've had that experience was when I was in the Peace Corps and I could speak to other volunteers in speedy English and no one would understand (I was in anglophone Cameroon... But the English is different there)... Until you'd get busted by someone who had studied abroad! It would be so helpful at Disney though... Especially when people-watching.

I always thought Belgium was French speaking... So you've enlightened me! Does your mom speak French, too? There's huge Belgian heritage in Green Bay where I live... But everything is French-y. Does your mom make booyah?

Love all the Photopass pictures!

Such an interesting fact about your mom growing up in Belgium! Oh, definitely jealous of your homemade waffles and fries!

Ugh what an annoying situation with your AP! Glad it didn't take too long to settle though.

Sounds like an entertaining bus ride back!

All the food looked yummy but I would have been allllllllllllllll over that waffle chocolate delight of heaven. (It would have been a glorious kind of embarrassment!) how long are you there on your next trip? We leave the 3rd:cool1:

Haha, what a great way to start a chapter of a trip report you just started. "So yeah, my next trip is coming up next week."

There is absolutely no shame in using a garbage can as a table, especially in Disney. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I have done that myself on occasion.

I know. The next few trips I have coming up are super close together, so I feel like that's what I'm always going to be saying.

It's absolutely true, and it's better to have it on a garbage can then to carry it around and try to eat it and then spill it!

Wow yeah, I would say you covered Belgium thoroughly. Well done!!

I'm a waffle fan anyway (way more than pancakes) but adding those toppings does seem pretty heavenly.

Yeah, we felt like we had to, what with Mom's heritage and all.

Waffles are so much better than pancakes! And there are so many different variations on them.

Ok, so basically you stopped eating so you could soon get ready to go eat. Got it!

Oh God I love the Popadon ear photo. The hat (which is awesome of course), but more-so the supreme confidence. You don't learn that, you are born with it. Here's hoping for a future Popadon/Mark hat-off.

Basically, yes, we had to stop eating because we had to eat again later. :rotfl:

Oooohhh, a hat off! I'll make sure we get that on the docket someday soon. He does have a supreme amount of confidence, he really doesn't have any shame.

Ugh, yeah. Still need the AP card. Kinda defeats the purpose of the MB a little. But that said, I still like having the card anyway for show off purposes, so there's that.

Bahahaha, I can totally relate to the "Bob" question. No lie, when I was a kid and we were in the States, when hearing we were from Canada would often get, "Oh, do you know Bill?" Serious question too.

You would totally think that they could figure out from your band that you have an AP. I wish they would, because I don't like to have to carry the card around.

Gotta love it when people do that! I've gotten it in Chicago too. "Oh you're from Chicago, do you know...." Yes, in this city of millions upon millions, I know this one person.

Your trip is coming up so soon - yay! I'm sure you're super excited to be going back!

I love all the PhotoPass pictures.

Call me crazy ... but I think garbage cans are a perfectly fine table. They're a flat surface, that's all you need. Plus, when you're done, it's easier to throw our your garbage. So whether or not it matters, I approve of using a garbage can as a table when necessary.

It's exciting! I love the fact that we're going back for a short jaunt.

They are a perfectly fine table! It's not like you're actually eating off of it. There's a plate. :rotfl2:

QUOTE=SarahDisney;52779284]That Figment hoodie is super cute. I can't believe the saga with not having the AP card ... insanity. Shouldn't they be able to scan your MB and see the AP on there or something??
I love the Figment hoodie. I'm really glad that I got it. You would think that they could scan the magic band, but I guess not. A billion dollars, and you don't know if I have an AP.

QUOTE=SarahDisney;52779284]EPCOT ... Every Person Comes Out Trashed ... I love it. So appropriate.

I love those VWL pictures ... what a beautiful view! I'm so glad to hear that you survived almost being assaulted by the murphy bed.

In case you don't update before next week ... have a great trip!!
It really is! That's Epcot to me on a normal trip without food and wine!

The murphy bed situation was pretty humorous. That would have been a disaster if we didn't figure out it was happening! :rotfl2:

You do look pretty happy in those Photopass pics, given that you were starving and had just waited for hours at GR!

Ugh, I'm dying to try that Cidre. I'm not a fan of beer but I LOVE hard cider. It's like apple juice with a kick :thumbsup2

Drooling at that chocolate waffle. It looks amazing!!

That Figment hoodie is FANTASTIC. So glad you decided to buy it!!

We were just happy to be there more than anything.

It's really good. Now, I will say that the Stella Cidre has a stronger beer flavor than Red's Apple Ale, but I prefer that. Still give it a try though, it's super yummy.

The chocolate waffle is amazing.

The Figment hoodie was a must purchase at that point. I couldn't resist it.

Oh yes the food we had after all the stuff we had to endure that morning was fantastic for sure. Belgium...... yes I am a bit biased being from Belgium, the waffles were all good. And the beer was OK. Like you said Danielle there are so many more good beers and so much food to pick from.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

They were all good, I was glad about that. I just wish for more variety, especially with the beer!

Love love love the Popadon ear photo. Has he ever actually worn a pair around the park? Your mom looks like she was having fun trying on the ears.

Love the figment hoodie...when you posted on Instagram, I was sad we couldn't pick one up at DL. I hope they have them when we are at Epcot next year (my hubby not so much). Especially like the wesie on figment.....your new look. We wouldn't expect anything less from Popadon.

He actually hasn't worn ears around the park before. If he did though, I guarantee they would be completely fabulous ones.

Hopefully they do have the hoodie still when you go back! You could always call the Disney World merchandise line and see if they'll ship it to you. They can pretty much get anything from the parks.

One of your other IG photos got us to spring into action and hit DL for a purchase.

I thought our 1st trip would be a one and done. Now we are going back in 2015 during the Christmas decorations. Would love to hit F & W, Halloween, and F & G. Until then, I will enjoy your trip reports.

F&W is definitely my favorite time to go, but it's difficult for me to go during that time of year due to budgets, so I can't do it annually. F&G is awesome too, and now they have food booths, so it's kind of like food and wine, which is an extra bonus!

“I finally got my Photopass pictures. I was waiting to download them, because I'm greedy, and I wanted to use this one Memory Maker purchase for two trips. Call me frugal.”

I call that perfectly reasonable and smart. ::yes::

When I was researching the time frame, I calculated it and I figured I could get two for the price of one, so I waited to download. I love saving money!

Definitely familiar with the lovely easy-disposal-dining-tables at Food & Wine! We have used them before and, really, they are basically the same as a stand-up table, just with built in trash cans. :lmao:

Mmmmm, thank you for recommending the Nudel Gratin previously – I had that in August and Izzy and I loved it. But this one with ham – yum! Sounds even better!

Yes! Your trash can is right there so you don't even have to go anywhere else to throw your things away. One and done!

I'm so glad you liked it! I love it when people enjoy things that I recommend. I actually prefer the one without the ham, but that's because I'm not a huge ham fan.

So glad you had a perfect weather day. Makes Disney even better when that happens.

I was hungry for a snack before reading your update and now I am just dying after those waffle pictures! I think I will need to go eat chocolate after posting this. That all looks just delicious! (and why is there not a drooling smiley?!)

That is such an adorable hoodie! And suits you quite well. :thumbsup2

It really was a perfect day weather wise. Couldn't complain at that point.

I'm always hungry for something when I write an update! :rotfl2:

Thanks! The hoodie was a must buy, it was just too cute to pass up.

Huh, good to know about the AP card. I have one, but wasn’t sure what I needed it for with the Magic Band. Thanks for filling me in. Sorry you had those issues. I know what you mean about those moments where you could be a jerk about things – I am like you and always try to handle things “with honey”, but Dug tends to be a bit faster to get frustrated (but always apologizes afterwards if he was not as nice as he should have been to a CM).

The only reason you would need it is to get the discount on your purchases. I do have some minor jerk tendencies at times, but because I worked in customer service for so long, I try so hard to just be nice to people in those positions.

Ha, the bus driver named Bob! Just like how I always get asked if I know so-and-so at Target (it’s a ginormous company and I work for a small subsidiary, so the odds are not good). Except for the one time I got asked and actually DID know the person. Small world and all that. Of course, it was a much more unique name than Bob.

I like your new EPCOT F&W acronym. Funny to see them as I was just re-reading my first TR the other night (1990 – I wrote it when I was 13 and posted it here many years later) and both of the first two acronyms were in there! :goodvibes

Your room looks really nice! :thumbsup2

I used to get that when I worked at Six Flags. We had 3,000 employees, and people would ask me if I knew this person, or this person. Generally, it was a resounding no. :rotfl:

The room was really lovely, I was so glad that we could stay there.

The beer flights are gorgeous! Seriously yummy looking. Yes, it is 5:00 in the morning, but you know what the man says "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere!"

I did not know your mom came from Belgium. Thanks for sharing the background.

These are great pictures.

I love the Figment hoodies!!!

What a great exchange you had with the bus driver on the way back to the resort. You really can have a memorable experience if you just ask once in a while "Do you know Bob?"

:goodvibes

The beer flights were really yummy! The only thing is that I can never remember which one is which.

Yup, we make a joke with Mom that she came over on a boat, because that's how they actually got here. :rotfl2:

Exactly! If you have a fun bus driver, just ask him if he knows Bob.

Those waffles in Belgium were my dessert of choice throughout Food and Wine :thumbsup2

You look so cute in the Figment hoodie! Love it!

And :yay: for another trip fast approaching! It will cheer you up after you see the Lions beat the Packers ;)

They were super yummy, I was glad we got all of them.

Thanks, I love that hoodie!

Hahaha, the trip is definitely coming up at a great time. We'll see what happens with the Packers. ;) I might need to cheer you guys up when I see you.

I know, but everything turned out in the end.

Do not let my AP experience scare you. This was the first time in all of my years of having an AP that it's been an event like this. Normally, it's super quick, because they can do it at any ticket counter. This was just a very unique circumstance.

Nope, not Christmas week, the New Years week. I should have said next next week. LOL.

Love the figment hoodie!

Yayyyy for return trips to Disney! Especially with all the Christmas decorations :)

"Everyone Comes Out Trashed" Hilarious and so true!

Have a safe trip and a very mickey Christmas !

It's my new favorite. It will be coming along with me this upcoming trip.

I love going to Disney when the dreamlights are on the castle. It's just my absolute favorite.

It's so true though, right? That's Epcot for me every day. :thumbsup2

Savory waffles are a new-found fave of mine - love them! I hope they have those next year at F&W!!

Best description of EPCOT ever: "or during F&W, Every Person Comes Out Trashed"... yep - sounds about right!! :rotfl2:

They are great, aren't they? I need to make them at home.

It is right! But that could be Epcot every day too.

That would be great, thank you! Don't worry about it until after your trip, I don't need to make them until mid-January.

And as a former CM two other common meanings of Epcot were "Experimental Polyester Costumes of Torture" and "Every Paycheck Comes on Thursday".

No problem! We'll measure them and then I'll message you on Facebook.

Hahahaha, Polyester Costumes of Torture. They really are though, we had similar ones at Great America. :rotfl2:

I loved loved LOVED that waffle. It was a great dish! I had no idea that you could get that nudel normally in Germany. SCORE! I also loved that. YAY, that's a great thing to know.

No shame in the garbage can, I've done it myself.

Love the hoodie and YAY for Wilderness Lodge!

Super annoying about the no cards though but very glad you got it fixed!

It was a great dish! I really want to try to eat that at home. Yup, you can absolutely get the nudel in Germany normally. It's a great snack / meal.

The card thing was really annoying, but at least it only took us a few minutes to get it resolved.

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time this August, so these pics are making me happy!

Yay! I love that resort, it's really lovely.

It's difficult for me to go during F&W too, because I'm in Accounting and we do budget all throughout September and October. So for me, the last weekend of F&W is really the only time I can make it.

Our area is now getting into the whole chicken and waffle thing, so hopefully it's a sign that more savory waffles are to come.

Hopefully you can! It's really a great resort. I'd only stayed there once before for a short trip, so it was really nice to be there for the week.

Hahahaha, I'm always to blame for the drool! This TR has a lot of food in it.

Elite black card. That is too funny!

My personal favorite - Everyone's Pocketbook Comes Out Thinner! (now, if we could just get that to work on my waistline!!)

So true though. If only we could get that to work on our waistline!

HAHA you are very funny Dawn. We will be at Lambeau for the game Sunday...... Will be yelling for the Green an Gold though :lmao:
Waffles are also one of my favorite choices too.

Um, yes we will! Go Pack go!

Ugh... You are making me so hungry!! I recently tried an amazing daube de boeuf recipe with Belgian ale (one of Andrew Zimmerns... Yes he eats things that aren't gross!) and now I'm going to have to make it and put it on a waffle.

That sounds like stoofvlees, which is something that my Mom and I will make occasionally. It's super yummy. You can put it on fries, potatoes, pretty much anything.

It's actually a common misconception that Belgium is French speaking. The country is divided by language. More than 60% of the country is Flemish speaking, and only 33% of the country is French speaking, with the remainder being German speaking. However, the French side ran the government for so many years, and actually didn't even ALLOW Flemish speakers to even be represented in government. That happened in more recent years. Add to the fact that when the French go to the Flemish speaking side, they refuse to speak Flemish. It just adds to the misconception. Ultimately, they're kind of stuck up. :rotfl2: It's a huge issue in the country still. They really don't like each other very much.

My Mom did speak fluent French when she lived there, because it was a requirement that they begin learning it at the age of 5 in school. However, she stopped using it when she came here, and since it wasn't her first language, she lost a lot of it. She understands a lot though, just can't respond.

I'm not sure what booyah is. But I looked it up. She doesn't make anything like that, she made a form of goulash for years, but not that.

Me too! I'm looking forward to taking even more on my Mom's and my upcoming trip.

It's a fun fact. Most people would have no idea, because she speaks with no discernible accent at all. She was made fun of when she moved her, so she took speech correction.

Seriously though, my Mom makes the best fries ever.

All the food looked yummy but I would have been allllllllllllllll over that waffle chocolate delight of heaven. (It would have been a glorious kind of embarrassment!) how long are you there on your next trip? We leave the 3rd:cool1:

It was soooooo good!

We are there from December 31 until the 4th. You leave Disney on the 3rd, or you leave FOR Disney on the 3rd? ;)
