My first world rant - you're welcome to share yours as well

But their CEO trophy hunts elephants and other big game. I cannot bring myself to eat there ever again. Voting with my dollars.

Meh, hunting of elephants is actually completely necessary to their survival. They're one of the few animals on earth that readily destroy their own habitat when they overpopulate - and by destroy, I mean make it inhabitable for hundreds or even thousands of years. With ever shrinking habitat, it's imperative that local populations be maintained at a level below carrying capacity. So, the choices are to pay professional game managers to cull the excess, or to have trophy hunters pay for the privilege. Either way, a certain # of elephants MUST be harvested, but in the latter version, some $$$ is brought into the local economy.

Me too. Even when they drop off free samples at work, nope. I have no problem with hunting for food. Hunting to show what a big bad man you are by shooting things just to show you can? Disgusting.

Last spring DH and I decided to bite the bullet and do a full kitchen remodel. Tear out everything including the pantry and gut it. The old kitchen was nonfunctional in many, many ways and we've always hated it. We really want to sell this house within the next few years and no one would look at it with the old kitchen. Got the money together, ordered the cabinets/flooring/lighting and waited and waited and waited. Apparently they take 8+ weeks to build and ship cabinets, that was not explained to us but ok, we'll manage. Really wanted to complete this over the summer because DH could be easily available but hey it's only August, they'll finish soon right?

Well, now it's October, I haven't haven't working plumbing in my kitchen for almost a month thanks to Irma and the remodel. Our little town also turned off the sewer pumps during and after Irma so that was a not enjoyable week. I have partial bottom cabinets but some of them are not what we ordered so that's stalled while they figure out what went wrong. The tile guy may be here sometime this week if I'm lucky. The coordinator is a flake and getting her to respond to phone calls and texts is impossible. The new lights are fantastic but the electricians didn't recess the plug behind the stove like we asked and the stove can't fit flush against the wall unless it's changed. Most of me feels guilty complaining because there's people here who lost everything in the storm, but on the other hand we started this what feels like forever ago and I'm tired of not being able to wash even a spoon unless we use the tub.

Everyone tells me it'll be worth it in the end, but dangit, I just want to scramble an egg and use my dishwasher lol

I have another one: People who hang out by the shopping carts in the store. I want to walk in, grab a cart, and go. I don't want to wait for you to finish whatever conversation you felt needed to be done while you block all access to the carts. Or wait while your 4 kids stand in front of all of them while you wipe down the cart you are going to use. Or while you try to convince your toddler to get in the cart! Take a cart, and then get the heck out of the way!

Maybe I have a first world problem... certainly a frustration. I have all these nice fall outfits, but it is usually too warm to wear them.

My DS14 would like to add this:

I will be running the cross country regionals tomorrow. The weather forecast is torrential rain all day and they are not cancelling.

I always chuckle to myself at the people who wipe the handles on grocery carts. Don't they realize they're going to get germs on their hands from the very first items they touch/pick up in the store? Now, I can see wiping it down if a child got it all gooey with chocolate or something, but if there's nothing visible then why bother? :confused3

And I understand your frustration about people standing and talking in front of the carts. I was in Joann's (craft store) the other day, didn't find what I wanted (fall colored garlands, they had NO fall flowers at all) so wanted to leave and there was a woman, yapping on her cell phone, standing directly in front of the door. Seriously? You don't think you're in the way of people coming in/out? Good grief!

And the moms trying to convince their toddler to get into the cart. Saw that yesterday in the bakery section of the grocery store. Mom said "honey, do you want some donuts" as the little brat was running around the tables of baked goods actually pounding his fist ON them! "Honey, please don't touch anything." "Honey, what kind of donuts do you want?" Pound. Pound. Dashing here and there. Pound. Pound. "Honey, Mommy said please don't touch anything...if you keep doing it you're going to have to get in the cart." Kid never once listened. Just kept running around pounding cookies, donuts, etc. Mommy picked out the donuts and they finally moved on to another aisle. I wanted to pick the little monster up and plop him into the cart myself. At one point our eyes met and she just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. Really? :headache:

One of my co-workers has a daughter that runs cross country. During a meet the other day they had to stop and re-route the path. Apparently bees had taken up residence along the first course, and the girls were getting attacked as they ran by. :scared:

Btw, how did you do?

Dh and I are both hot messes he might have have to get his wisdom teeth removed and I might need surgery as well and it all had to come up right before our Disney vacation the good news is we live close enough to reschedule

This reminds me of something that just happened today... DD and I went grocery shopping and I decided we could carry the bags of groceries and leave the cart inside. I pull to the side of the cart section to remove my bags, and this guy comes up and pushes his cart and blocks me between our carts! I just looked at him and chuckled, pushed his cart out of the way and walked out. I was just shocked that he would do that - the cart area was huge and no one else was in there, but he just had to squish me in there. Ugh.

Same grocery store trip, we have a Starbucks in this grocery store. DD and I were craving a tasty beverage, so we stopped on our way out. It is a small Starbucks that usually only has 2 workers - 1 taking orders and 1 making drinks. There are 5 people waiting for their drinks, and 5 people in front of us waiting to order when the woman ordering turns to the people behind her and laughs a little while telling us "Sorry, I have a big order". Whatever lady. Well, the cashier mentions to another customer that this woman does this all the time, and they have repeatedly asked her to call in her order ahead of time but she doesn't. I don't know how many times this woman "apologized" for having such a large order and making us all wait. (I use the quotes because she certainly wasn't apologizing, she was just bringing more attention to herself.) But then she kept talking to the barista, delaying her order (and everyone behind hers) even more.

I forgot to reschedule an appointment for tomorrow. Now I'll have to go.

My local Kroger is remodeling and the store is chaos. Today they had probably 30 extra workers moving stuff all over the place, and they blocked the aisles and shelves and seemed oblivious to shoppers standing there waiting for them to move. The new layout of the store makes absolutely no sense. And with all those Kroger employees in the building, you'd think check out might be faster. Nope. Still only two lines open. I may not go back there.

I'm right there with you. They are remodeling our Kroger too. About a month ago I asked the checkout clerk when it was going to be finished thinking she would say "a couple more weeks". No, she told me they were hoping to have it done by THANKSGIVING!!!! They just did a full remodel of the store about a year ago and now are changing everything again. It makes me crazy going in there because you never know where you are going to find things - bread next to lightbulbs, cereal bars up in the pharmacy, etc.

Rehearsal tonight was supposed to go over our lines. They wanted to run the entire 1st act. I wore heels for the entire rehearsal. My legs hurt!!!!
