My first trip to WDW and DH's first time being arrested (Dec 2009)

Hi there! I saw this TR the other day but didn't want to post until I read the whole thing. I'm enjoying the TR. My hubby is currently in Montana at the family farm and ranch for harvest and he can barely get an internet connection and cell service up there but there is only one carrier that has decent service in Montana - you know what I'm talking about ;)

It takes a lot of time and energy to post such details and as a DISer, I appreciate it! I love the details!! So thanks for taking the time to write the TR. And now that I'm caught up, I can't wait to hear the next installment popcorn::

Okay, I just read it all. Long tall tale from Big Sky Country or not, I believe, and that's what WDW is all about.

I'm loving this TR. Can't wait to read more!

Some things are just really hard to believe,:confused3

Boy they really aren't going to believe me when I tell them that on our last day at Disney, Rig and I were abducted by aliens and taken into another galaxy. I am writing this report from the spaceship and Rig has officially changed his name to Deathstar.....:lmao:juuuuuust Kidding.

Thank you for reading, I will be posting another chapter this evening.

I am so Glad you don't sweat the small stuff :goodvibes
Can't wait to read more!

Hey funny thing about BB I really never watched it and then my neighbor across the street her sister's boyfriend at the time. He was on BB season 9 - he only lasted like two episodes and he ruined any kind of relationship/friendship with my neighbors sister.

See they were dating off and on (they had a combative relationship) anyhow she called him and could not get a hold of him so she finally called his mom (they were young) and she said he left, that big brother called and he had a day to pack and go. He never called her and then when the show aired he was all cocky and said he was not in a relationship - pretty much lied about everything. My sister's neighbor is gorgeous and a model (A real model, goes all over the world) - my husband thought the kid (Matt was his name) was crazy.
My neighbor is one of 8 girls (big italian family) and all of them cannot stand him now, not even all there husbands.
Thought I would share since I know you love this show.
He will still call her and she will not give him the time of day

Now that does sound like fun. Did you ever get to see any of the stars of the Mickey Mouse club?

I actually grew up not far from Orlando and our class got to be in the audience for a taping. A girl I attended school with was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club cast, Lindsey Alley. She didn't end up like Brittney or Kari or Justin, but she has done stage work since then, or so I've read.

Back in the day you could take the backlot tour and itd go past a large window where you could look in on the MMC set.

Did you check on the pictures of the parks and stuff? I cant wait to see it all:banana::rotfl:

AH-mazing TR!!!

Just found this today and am absolutely LOVING it!!!! Your Rig sounds like quite the charmer! :cloud9:

Eeekk, can't wait for your next update!!

When the lights came up after the little mermaid show, the little girl in front of us whipped around so fast she nearly fell. If looks could kill Rig would have met with a tragic ending. As we were making our way out of the theater the little girl kept turning around to glare at Rig, and right before she disappeared into the crowd with her family she turned around once more and stuck her tongue out.

she was a cute sassy girl and Rig and I just lost it. Outside of the theater Rig was putting on his hat when he said, "she did not like me."

"No, she didn't," I was still laughing from the tongue incident.

"I don't know what I did wrong."

"You told her the fairytale kiss was gross."

"Fairytale kiss? all they did was sniff eachothers necks, it was gross." Rig had taken my hand and we started walking to the front of the park to hit up some of the shops we saw earlier.

"It's called a stage kiss." I wondered then if they were allowed to kiss for real, or if that is forbidden, what if they really liked eachother? What if they didn't? what if Eric smelled like B.O. or somthing.

We talked about stage kisses, real kisses, our first kiss and we might have even kissed, but once we got to the shops it was time to focus on the task at hand.
We found a couple shirts we liked. I wanted something simple that said Walt Disney World and the year on it. It was scarce pickens, we couldn't find anything matching with 2009 on it in both our sizes, they either had his or had mine, but never both. We asked a CM and she said that was all they had left and the 2010 shirts were soon going to be put out for sale.

Rig said he would probably never even wear his shirt again. "I don't wear shirts with words on them, I don't want people reading me."

I knew what ever shirt he got would eventually end up in my dresser as a night shirt for me. We gave up the search for tshirts at that park and just shopped around for nothing in particular. I picked up a magnet for the fridge and a small tin with mints in it. I didn't really want the mints, I just liked the tin.

We found ourselves down by Beauty and the Beast. I really wanted to see this show, We had an hour before the next show. "We could probably get in a ride first." I could see Rig eyeing the Tower of Terror.

Omagosh, all my fears came back, the only fear I didn't have was the fear of the unknown, and I don't know if that is better or worse. I knew it scared the tar out of me the first time, but I also know it wasn't a "painful" ride like Rocknroller coaster was. After a few seconds of mulling it over I decided to go again, I knew it would make Rig happy and I love making my man happy.
I even took the time to enjoy some of the "dark places" That Rig likes so much;) (I like them too)

The ride was scary the second time too, but I was able to focus more on the other things since I knew what the drop was going to be like I wasn't concentrating on only that. It seemed like it didn't bounce usup and down as much this time, the ride was shorter. And when the ride was over the picture didn't look too bad. We still didn't get it, but it wasn't all tonsils like all the other pictures so far.

Rig asked if I would be willing to try Rocknroller coaster again and I said "no way, never again."

We headed back to Beauty and the beast, they were letting people into the theater by then, we went in and found seats near the top. I leaned back into Rig, he put his arm around me. we didn't really talk, we just relaxed and watched people, after a while Rig nudged me and pointed down to the front. "Look my nemesis is here."

I looked down and saw the little girl from the little mermaid show and giggled, "Maybe she won't notice you"

Rig laughed, "Yea, I'll do my best to blend in, it shouldn't be too hard."

I gave Rig a playful backhanded smack to his chest. "Ouch Babylee, your man needs affection, not affliction."

I got a text from Jenny around that time, she just wanted to know how we were. I texted back, we were great.

the show began and for the next 30 minutes I am caught up in the story of Belle and the Beast. The music and the costumes were amazing. I again wanted to sing, and again I held back. I would go from laying back against Rig to sitting forward in my seat to laying against Rig again. It was extremely intertaining, (the show, not me moving around constantly) They took a whole Disney movie and shoved it into a small amountof time and the story didn't suffer at all.

the little mermaid has that part of the cartoon montage to fill in the middle of the story, but it's still a great show because of all the extra effects. Beauty and the Beast is great just because.

I liked them both but I think I would pick the little mermaid over Beauty and the Beast, when it was over and we were leaving I asked Rig which he liked best and he said the little mermaid.

"Because of the special effects?"

"No, he answered, the seats are more comfortable in there."

We had early dinner reservations for 50's Primetime Cafe. Emily said it was home cooking and Rig being a meet and potatos man would really like it. she also told us that we would be treated like family here. It's not your ordinary restaraunt.

We were pretty early for this dinner. We walked in and we could both see why it called 50's, I have only seen kitchens and decor like that in the movies or on TV. (Pleasantville was a good movie by the way.) It was crowded in there so once we gave them our name we went and sat out front. The sun had started to go down. It wasn't chilly but you wouldn't over heat if you wore a hoodie, I guess the temperature was perfect.

I like how the parks start to take on a different feel at night. It carrys a different kind of energy. Mornings you are pumped and ready to go, but evenings come alive and make you want to smile and breath deep.

We just sat on the bench wrapped up in eachother and our conversation waiting for them to call our names. they were running a bit behind, but Rig and I didn't care, we had all the time in the world and we were just enjoying it.

When our name was called we were taken into the back of the restaurant and given a table that had an old TV at it. The hostess took our drink orders and left.

"Omagosh Rig, it's a restaurant that looks like a kitchen, isn't this neat?"

Rig nodded. "My folks always had a TV in the kitchen and I hated it cause one of them was always gone and when they were both home nobody talked, we just watched TV."

"We had a TV in our kitchen too, but it had to be turned off for dinner."

We were caught up in our conversation when the waiter came with our drinks. He placed them in front of us, he took one look at Rig and said, "still getting into trouble I see."

Rig was taken by surprise, "What?"

"I thought so, said the waiter, "Maybe if your Momma brought you around more you would recognize your Uncle Tim."

Rig laughed, "she's been busy."

"Too busy for family?"

Rig just shrugged, Uncle Tim looked at me, "and who's this?"

"My wife, Lee."

"I didn't get an invitation to the wedding."

"We went to the JOP."

"Eloped did ya?"

Rig and I just loved this. This was the best restaurant experience for us. Uncle Tim gave us our menus and said he'd be back.

"Wow Rig. Emily was not kidding when she said you are treated like family here."

We looked over the menus and both decided to order the meatloaf. I make a really good meatloaf, I wanted to see how it compared.

Uncle Tim came back to take our orders and told us there would be no dessert if we didn't eat our vegetables. I asked if I could swap out the green beans for carrots and Uncle Tim said, "Does it look like I'm running a restaurant here?"

I can't say it enought, this waiter was so funny and on top of things. whe he brought our food back to us, I did get the carrots, I wasn't sure if I would. He asked if we had washed our hands and when we told him yes, he asked us what color was the soap?

the meatloaf was so good, the potatos were heavenly, and the carrots were cooked just right, they weren't crunch and weren't nasty mushy.
I ate almost all of it but gave alot of my meatloaf to Rig. It's funny because we were so afraid we would get caught. I didn't want to get in trouble and lose out on dessert.

"I can't finish my meatloaf Rig."

"pass it over."

"What if Uncle Tim sees us, I won't get dessert."

"Oh my word Babylee, give me that danged meatloaf."

But I could see Rig take a look around before actually taking the meatloaf onto his plate.

We finished up, Uncle Tim was proud of us for clearing our plates and gave us a view finder. I looked through it, thinking it was going to be something Disney. "It's the dessert menu Rig." I read the menu off to him.

We both got s'mores. they were so good. I couldn't finish it, neither of us could. But we didn't get in any trouble for not finishing our dessert. Uncle Tim asked us if we were going to take it with us. We told him no, so he said he would wrap it up and put it in the fridge for if we stopped by later, but don't be surprised if somebody else ate it first.

Uncle Tim got a big tip, He was something else and really made that dining experience the best.

We left and went to find the Osborne Spectacle of lights.

The park wasn't real crowded at that point, actully it didn't seem real crowded all day, it was busy but the biggest crowd I saw all day was just all the people waiting for the rope to drop.

We passed by Indiana Jones and Startours again and eventually found the streets of America, whenI first stepped up and saw the whole street lit up I was in awe, I just stood for a few minutes. It really was spectacular. I still liked the castle lights better, it just seemed more majestic, where as these lights were fun and festive. It reminded me of the first Christmas Rig and I were together, (dating, not married) and we went driving around some neighborhoods looking at christmas light decorations. Some things just bring back wonderful memories. and this was one of them.

The music played, the lights danced and for once I sang, Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad prospero ano y felicidad

Every year in elementary school, our music teacher would have us sing this. I never thought back then that one day I would be singing along with that song in disney world while holding onto the man of my dreams.

Something about christmas lights in abundance and christmas carols blaring in your ear just makes you giddy. You want to skip to the music, and twirl under the fake snowflakes. I only skipped and twirled in my heart, physically I just leaned back against Rig and just took it all in. We watched for a good bit and then went futher in where we were completely surrounded, we never tired of the lights, we just walked and took pictures, each turn of the head seeing something new. This is worth seeing.

We walked from one end of the street down to the other and looked back one more time before deciding to head back to the resort for the night. the park was offering extra magic hours that night, we talked about staying. Maybe if we had gone back to the resort earlier in the day for a refresher we would have stayed longer, but for the time being I was just done.

We got back to the resort on an almost empty bus, and went and got our refillable mugs. I got hot cocoa and Rig got coffee.

I was so ready for a bath and my comfy jammies, just a night of relaxing, maybe taking a walk, but my mind was still up in the air about the air about that.

I have to say that I am truly addicted to your story! I have spent most of my day reading your TR when I should have been doing house work. I almost forgot to get my kids from school I was so wrapped up in it!! I really enjoy the way that you describe the love between you and Rig, I think we all wish we could have love like that. Can't wait to read how the rest of your trip went!

Melissa
I'm sorry, I must have missed this post earlier, Thank you for reading. And honestly anybody can have love like that, it just takes two people wanting to work at it.

Waiting for your next installment! I am so enjoying your trip report!
Thankyou, I just put up another chapter.

I am racking my brain trying to figure out which guy you are talking about. I can't picture it. That is such a crazy story though, I have never known anybody who was on a reality show. that just seems a little scary to be putting yourself out there like that.

I actually grew up not far from Orlando and our class got to be in the audience for a taping. A girl I attended school with was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club cast, Lindsey Alley. She didn't end up like Brittney or Kari or Justin, but she has done stage work since then, or so I've read.

That sounds like an awesome class field trip. WE always went to the planetarium, that was cool, but no where near as cool as being in the audience for the taping of a show at Disney.

Did you check on the pictures of the parks and stuff? I cant wait to see it all:banana::rotfl:
I was able to open up a photobucket account, each time I scan my picture the page expires before the picture can upload, this dial up is too slow, but i will keep trying, But you know if you want to see christmas pictures so bad, there are alot of people with Christmas reports and pictures in them, you could see them there just go to the complete trip report forum and there are some people even working on their Dec trip report now. :confused3

Love Love Love the last update. The Osborne Lights are my favorite holiday attraction at WDW.

We took my MIL this part December. She is a Disney regular but somehow had never seen the Osborne Lights. It was so cool to experience the lights with her. They are spectacular!!!!!!!!!!

Trying to upload a picture to photobucket with a dial-up connection is the most frustrating thing on the planet :sad2: This trip report is fasinating, even without the pictures!!

A little "Pop vs. Soda" enlightenment:

Now, does anyone else here call a drinking fountain a "bubbler"? :confused3

:rotfl:

I do!!! I live in Milwaukee and we call them bubblers. This made me LOL

Lee- I want to know if you ever finished The Glass Castle and what you thought of it? I read it on vacation in Maine this year and I loved it. It is a very inspiring book. Plus I can always tell my kids..."you think you have it tough? in this book I read....."

by the way I love this trip report!!!!!

I loved Pleasantville too. Such a cute movie! I really like 50's prime time.. we have an ADR there this december!

Another amazing update Lee! I feel like I am standing right there with you. I love the Osbourne lights, there really is nothing like them. Can't wait to read more about your wonderful trip.

I loved reading this book as well. Unreal! Have you read Jeanette Wall's second book "Half Broke Horses"?

Lee, you seem very calm, cool, and collected to me. I'm enjoying each and every update.:cool2:

The lights are one of my favorite things about DHS at Christmas. We always spend atleast an hour if not more walking in them or sitting on the curb watching.

:rotfl:

I do!!! I live in Milwaukee and we call them bubblers. This made me LOL

I live north of Milwaukee, and my teachers always said, 'go get a drink at the bubbler'.

I have come so close to seeing the Osbourn lites. I booked our vacation in Nov., because Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel, said, Disney turns on the Osbourne Lites in early Nov. In Nov. 08, Disney decided to conserve energy, and didn't turn the lites on till Thanksgiving. But someday, I will get to see them.

She also said the jail is open 9-5 didn't she. No they are not. Again, personal experience of the FL jail system

Actually, I'm pretty sure she stated that at the time she didn't know HOW the jail system worked....

I've been quietly following along here, and I just don't understand why people keep picking this apart. Regardless if the conversations RigLee is writing happened word for word or not, I'm sure she remembers the general jist. What does it matter if this trip report is from this one specific trip or a compilation of memories - the author has obviously taken a trip to Disney at some point, and is writing of her experience there.

When I read a trip report I am looking for insight and entertainment. This wonderful report has given me both. Those who are continually trying to discredit this author just come across as spoil sports full of sour grapes, the antithesis of what Disney is supposed to be...jmho.

I have to say that although you're overly descriptive, in an entertaining way, I also think you've shared some great insight into the rides and shows. Love your posts
