Ok, spare me, since it is the first time for me to make a trip report in English, hopefully you can read through the mistakes I make.
Let me start by introducing my family:
Me - Sandra
Husband - Marco
Our son - Michael (almost 8, he says to everybody, his birthday is 9 March
. By the way, he is named after 2 Michaels. My husband is a huge Ferrari and Formula 1 fan, so he came with Michael Schumacher. I was crazy about the tv show La Femme Nikita, and especially about...
, Roy Dupuis, a.k.a. Michael )
DH and I went to Florida in 1995 and 1998 so it was really time we would go back again.
In 1995 we did Disneyworld in 11 days, stayed in All Star Sports. We also made one trip outside the World to see Sea World, and we did some shopping.
When we were there, we had no idea the news in The netherlands was telling there was a hurricane in Florida. Not specific where, so our family and friends were concerned about us. (these were the days where not so many people had internet to inform them
) We already knew the hurricane was not near us, but didn't realise that message didn't came through to the Netherlands. Well, next day we went home, and called because our plane was delayed, they were glad to hear from us.
We had a great time in Disneyworld, and promised each other we would come back to Florida.
In 1998 we did go back, although this time we made a roundtrip. We started in Orlando, but stayed offsite this time. We went to Magic Kingdom and the Universal Studios, left Orlando, thinking we would come back at the end of our trip to go home, but that went a little different....
We stayed one night in Cocoa Beach, and visited Kennedy Space Center.
After that we went to Pompano Beach, stayed for 2 nights, and then it was time for the Keys....
Well, we made it to Key West, and were lucky enough the hotel would accept us for one night, since they were starting to evacuate the tourists for hurricane George. Strange way to experience Key West at that day, people were making preparations to survive the hurricane. And I never thought about it, but now I can say it is really silent before the storm comes.
The next day we had to leave the Keys and our travelcompany told us to go to Miami. We stayed there for 2 nights, the people of the hotel were very helpfull, but the people of our travelcompany were not... It was our intention to go to Fort Myers after we had done the Keys, but that was because of the hurricane not an option. I don't know if it was true, but we heard rumours there was a chance they had to evacuate a part of Miami also, so we thought it was better to leave there now, then to be in a traffic jam the next day or so. So we went again to Orlando, stayed there the rest of our time, and still had a great time.
In 2000 Michael was born, and the next year we spent our holidays in Europe.
We went several times to Disneyland Paris, and although that park is great, you can not compare it with Disneyworld.
We really wanted to go to Disneyworld again with Michael, so he can see what a great place it is. Ofcourse we also still want to see Fort Myers and more from the Keys. Last year we decided to make this trip, and save money for it. We heard Michael had holidays for 2 weeks at the end of April, and that sounded much better then to go in July or August, because of the weather, and a little more chance to get a hurricane again.
And now we are counting the days, we leave 26 April to go to Miami, and will go back to The Netherlands at 10 May.
In my next message I will post our itinerary!
