DAY 6JUNE 11, 2002
Sleep in and do downtown Disney!
We slept in finally!! Oh and we needed to so bad .we were just beat. Erika ended up getting up at 9am or so because she just had to lay out. Mike and I slept for another hour (yawn). We got up and leisurely ate breakfast while one of the infamous talk shows was on. Erika came back around 10:30am and we decided based on the clouds outside that it would be a good day to go Downtown Disney and try out Disney Quest. Mike was supposed to golf on this particular day but because the weather has been so unpredictable that we called exactly 48 hours before on the way to MGM and cancelled it. We got ready and headed down to the bus stop. We waited like 20 minutes and still no bus to DTD. We saw two come for both AK and MK .I picked up the phone and was about to ask the front desk what was going on when one pulled up. We got on and the bus went to Typhoon Lagoon first .that park looked so lushwe couldnt even see the slides unlike BB. We had decided to go to BB during our stay though, so Id have to wait to try out TL. We also passed Coronado Springs .it looked great! I would like to try it out sometime .my fiancé is from a Mexican family and Im sure he would enjoy it as well. Ok, so back to Downtown Disney We got there and decided to get off at the PI stop since its closer to the West Side. We walked towards the West side and searched for a place to eat we were hungry. We ended up choosing Wolfgang Puck Express. I thought it was great. Erika and I both got sausage and pepperoni pizzas and Mike got some tomato kind I dont remember the kind. We all loved it .for 8.00 those pizzas were a great dealdelicious and filling. The cookie was gross though. From there we headed to Virgin Records to look around. We stayed on the first level and looked around. Erika was searching for Shakira and she didnt know whether she wanted that or Enrique Iglesias. I was looking for the Jennifer Lopez remix CD and found it. Definitely buying this onegreat CD. Erika ended up choosing Shakira and I bought the JLo CD. Then we headed to DisneyQuest. That elevator thing that takes you up is pretty cool. When it let us off we decided to head for the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction first. That had the longest linewe probably waited 30 minutes for it. It was a great thing thoughprobably the best of all the things there. We only had three people for our ship and running six cannons and driving was quite challenging .but we did pretty good actually. It was so much fun to try to shoot the ships! But it is aerobically challenging and we are pretty fit people. After that we went to see what the Magic Carpet ride was like, but it was an individual virtual reality thing and we decided not to do it. Treasure of the Incas was an interesting approach to a game it looks fun but we didnt try it. We headed over to Cyberspace Mountain after that. The wait wasnt too long at all. We created our coaster, but I screwed it up. I knew it was a motion simulator and I was afraid I would get sick. Mike and Erika picked the fastest speed and then put a punch of hairpin turns etc. At the end I hit curve and straight and we were out of track. We got in line to ride our ride. Since it only holds two Mike and I went first. It was fun! I didnt feel sick at all. At the end I like how they show a clip of what you looked like. I decided Id ride it with Erika too. She liked it as well. We werent going to buy the video though. We exited in Create Zone. It looked like a kids playground to us I would have liked to do Magic Mirror but no spots were open. So we said enough with this zone. Then we headed for Buzz Lightyears space ranger spin. Erika and I were in one car and Mike was in the other. We loved it. I drove and she shot the balls. Mike got stuck early on so it wasnt really like he even played. We hit some guy with a ball and he looked at us like why did you do that?? It was funny. Then we decided to try out the Virtual Jungle Cruise. Barely any wait. This ride was interesting. You paddle oars on a virtual river and you do get sprayed a little. It was pretty good. Then we headed to Invasion! Alien Encounter. This was kind of weird. I mean it was set up kind of cool, but we thought it was just alright. It definitely was not popular no one else was riding it. After that we decided to leave Mike was going to stick around to play the video games and Erika and I decided to go to the Marketplace. We told him wed meet him at the exit an hour or so later. Little did we know how long of a walk it was. Whew! We went to World of Disney, Team Mickeys, Disney at Home, the Disney xmas store, and the Pooh store. They all had several things I wanted. I definitely was coming back to buy the scrapbook and a few frames. When we were done looking we had to walk all the way back to get Mike. We sat on a bench because we didnt see him. Little did we know he was standing at the exit. We headed back towards PI to catch the bus. It had rained while we were in DQ, that was for sure.We caught the bus back to the Boardwalk. We were trying to figure out what to do for dinner .we didnt want to eat at a nice place really but the fast food fare was just not going to cut it. So we decided to go with in room dining. I ordered PB&J, Mike got a footlong hotdog with cheese and fries, and Erika got a house salad. It was just ok, probably would not do it again.
Mikes hotdog didnt settle wellhe said it was the cheese. The interesting thing is that they set the table for you
tablecloth, covered platters, etc. It was funny to see it. At that point we were watching American Idols
it was the premiere episode and it was cracking us up. There were some really bad and really funny people trying to sing.
That judge Simon sure is blunt. We laughed forever. Erika was doing her best to imitate, which I got on video. That got over at 10pm and we didnt really feel like going out, so we just stayed in. We checked our email and decided to go back to MGM tomorrow. Then we got ready for bed.
