Welcome to my Pre-Trip report!

First, here's a bit of background information. Many of you don't know me. I've been on the boards for a while but I haven't exactly been active, especially in the last little while due to no time and a misbehaving computer. Even when I have a computer, I tend to lurk instead of talking on the boards. I thought my trip report would be as good an introduction (or re-introduction) as any.

My families last Disney trip was two years ago. We usually go every year but, in the two years between, my family had some hard times. A year ago in October my grandma was diagnosed with cancer, ten days before our Disney trip. After months of sleepless nights in the hospital and mornings spent with doctors, we brought my grandma to spend her last days at our house, surrounded by family, and of course everyone was more comfortable sleeping at my house than surrounded around the 4th floor of the hospital like gypsies. Around that time, my father also got sick, his was due to diabetes. He lost his leg and his eyesight slowly, which was hard for us to watch. Three weeks ago, my father also passed away. Needless to say, this Disney Trip is well deserved for my family, and we've been waiting for a break for a while.

Anyways, off the sad stuff! Here's the layout of our vacation as it stands now.

When- Disney 4th -14th or 3rd - 13th The reason behind the unknown dates is due to my aunt changing her baby shower date to the day we were leaving for our vacation. My mom keeps going between leaving right after the baby shower, or the next day. EDIT: It's been decided that we will leave after the baby shower, and stay until the 14th.

Resort- Disney Port Orleans Riverside

Tickets- 7 day Magic your Way with Parkhopper & 3 day universal. No water parks this year due to the temperamental December weather we met on our last trip.

Dinning Reservations-
We're on the Dinning Plan, and a lot of these are new restaurants because we like to try new things each time. They're in the order of when we'll be eating there.
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Rose & Crown
Teppan Edo
The Crystal Palace
1900 Park Fare
Shulas Steak House
Coral Reef
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Cape May Cafe
Captains Grill

Any opinions on the restaurants and the best food at each?

The Famjam-

Taylor (Me)- I'm 19 and the most Disney obsessed out of us. I'm the planner (and believe me I've been planning) Next year I'll be taking a double major in Creative Writing and Social Work, but this year I’m focusing on writing my novel (doing NaNoWriMo right now) and settling my illness. Oh, yeah, my illness, guess I should throw this out there. When I was 7 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, when I was 8 I had brain surgery. My illness is chronic, and has some repercussions, but thanks to Disney's great disability policy (if it can be called that) I can join in the magic of Disney like everybody else. I like the thrill rides but enjoy the classics and slower ones that Disney has too, nothing is too child-like for me, after all, we're all kids in Disney. If I had to pick a favourite character, it would be Mulan, but I love them all. I don't really know what else to say about myself, so why don't you just look at my face instead. It's not the best picture, but the aforementioned computer problem has my laptop in the shop and me without pictures.

My Mom- Who, in the begging of November turned 29 for the 13th time ;D She considers Disney her happy place and is right up there with me in the crazed obsession with the mouse. She's a nurse, and works really hard so she may even be looking forward to this trip more than me. Her favourite character is Tinkerbell (when she had spunk in Peter Pan), and her favourite park is Magic Kingdom.

Serena- She's 17, and hasn't gotten excited for Disney just yet. It's usually when we get there when she goes crazy. Right now she's gloomy because she has to fly, which she hates. She's really go with the flow and positive, which helps with all the strong personalities in my family. Her favourite character is Jasmine, but she likes all the princesses a lot, and her favourite Park is also Magic Kingdom, MGM/Hollywood Studios coming in at a close second.

Riley- She's 15, and the youngest on our trip xD. She once got a ticket for frowning in Magic Kingdom, so I guess that says something :D. She's really starting to get excited now, but she always tells me I talk about it too much for her to get excited. She can be inda cranky, but being the youngest means everyone pretty much forgives her within minutes. She likes the thrill rides, but will also laugh her way through the teacups with the best of us. Her favourite park (and this one is a guess) is Hollywood Studios, and her favourite character has always been Ariel.

There's going to be a lot of firsts in this trip, from the restaurants to going to Universal, which we haven't done since I was 7 (and I only remember Jaws) and of course they have the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter (which I’m so psyched for!) and Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. So, I guess all I have to say is expect a lot of pictures and maybe a video or two, and this to be done fairly quick once I get back.

Let the shenanigans begin.

*Unfortunately all my notes from my vacation were lost. I got home and went through my luggage and they were gone. I suppose i'll have to try again next vacation*

This Post will be saved for chapter editions I'll need in the future. Planning ahead! (Right now I'm experimenting with links and anchors, trying to get it to work, so if there are random links, that's me being clueless :D)

The First Update of Our Trip Is Here, and six days away.
We've now added two things, because we really want to do up this trip. The First is Cirque Du Soleil- La Nouba. We've never been before, but we've always wanted to go. So we're especially excited about this one :D There will definitely be a revue of the show. And, We've also added Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. We haven't gone to this one either. We were contemplating if the $200 was worth it, but we all decided we'd like to check it out. I'm still heavy into the planning of our daily itineraries and the menus of our restaurants, so there may be more updates :D Anyone have any good experience with Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party or Cirque Du Soleil? Any experience or tips is appreciated :D
