My First Pin Code - Big kids” get little kids’ prices!

Does anyone know how it works when you upgrade to regular or deluxe dining from the quick service dining - are you charged a kid price for regular or deluxe instead of adult price?

Have to call tomorrow and get some numbers on this and see if this is better than the AP rate I'm hoping for. Looks like a good deal - but to get it I need to add one-day base tickets for the 4 of us, which none of us need.
We're starting our trip on the 26th, and looks like offer doesn't start till 28th, and certainly can't go 2 days w/o tickets for the kids, but don't want to buy them twice.

I just upgraded it to the WL and Deluxe Dining. It saved me $757 for our 10 nights. She just priced out the deluxe dining for me, I'm not sure what the savings was but for our whole stay it was $757 less. She said something about the pin being attached to the deluxe dining and the deluxe hotel too, they just don't advertise that in the pin offer email.

I got the pin last night as well. This is like my 6th pin code this year. I already have my trip booked with the 40% off, but I sent the code to my AAA TA to see if this is a better deal for us. I haven't heard back from her yet. As soon as I do I will let everyone know which deal was the best for us. We have 2 adults, DS 8 and DD2 (at the time of travel).

Well, my TA said this offer is not good for me because my trip dosent start till 11/28. Grrrrr. Oh well, but since some people have said they have called and it was extended, I may just call myself and see what they say.... Thoughs, should I give it a try or not?

This is what I would like to know as well. We're staying 11/28-12/5 and it would be awesome if this PIN were extended. They sent me this email twice!

I got this email and it says in the darker blue box below the main offer:
"Be sure to ask about great rates for other lengths of stay,
Resorts and travel dates 11/28–12/17/09."

I called this afternoon and was able to get this PIN applied to my 11/28-12/5 stay, woohoo! We're staying deluxe with regular dining and were able to save nearly $500! Yay! That'll cover a good chunk of our airfare! :)

Seems as though Disney is targeting the east coast with these pins.

I just got my first one last night, when I called there was a lot of confusion, the pin I had in my email was in my name for me but CS said it was someone completely different on her end. :confused3 At first I thought she would not honor the PIN...it was the pay for 5 nights, get 2 free and a gift card. To make it even more confusing, they had the address as my in-laws! :scared1: I was bummed at first because I thought I was actually one of the lucky ones who was finally getting a PIN and that I wouldn't be able to use it, however after hearing some of the prices, I don't know if we will book anyway, we did get it all straightened out over the phone, but now I am afraid I won't get another PIN for awhile! Here's to wishin!

I got this PIN, too! It's my very first one! :cool1: Unfortunately, I can't use it because we're going in January (which they know becasue they asked when I registered at the WDW website). Maybe they are just trying to get people into the parks before the end of the calendar year?

could this possibly not be a good deal? I received a 40% off room only and booked FW cabins 10/25-10/31 at a cost of $189/nt total approx $1200. I also had to buy 5 day park hoppers for $1500. I called about this Big Kids for little kids deal b/c I received that code to. For the same length with only a 1 day basic ticket (b/c I needed a pkg plan and had already bought the other park hoppers) and dining was $2800! so it is $2800+$1500 for park hoppers I already bought is a grand total of $4300 for 6 nights. Is this possible it seems so expensive? If I leave my ressie room only and with the park hoppers my total is $2700, how can this be? The dining can't be worth $1600? Did the cm mess up when she quoted me? I hope this makes sense because it has managed to throroughly confuse me. Thanks

I'm confused. Did you already dump the first deal? It sounds better to me than the second deal. Here's the thing... you lose out the most on that first day of a ticket anyway and the adults play for kid's price is better than no deal at all but the first one sounded much better, especially since you weren't going value resort.

no I kept the first deal and decided against the big kids for little kids. It wasn't going to save me anything. I guess I was confused b/c some people did get the free dining pin code. But the big kids for little kids told you that you could include dining but it wasn't free.

this is my first time posting, I look at the boards a lot. you all are very helpful! Thanks :)

Been on all the Disney lists for a decade -- never a pin. They must have suddenly started targeting the East Coast -- got one last month (the 40% off one) and now this one. Took this one and ran with it -- saved $460 on a little 4 day trip for my family of 3 -- very similar to free dining savings, but the dates are better for us (mid-October). The math is confusing as heck on this one though :surfweb:-- and I'm an accountant:rolleyes1. However, we did get the kiddie rate on the tickets and the dining for what would normally be 3 adult tickets.:cool1:

I just posted this on another thread , but I see that it fits here, too.

It's 4-night/4-day package...including accomodations, Theme Park tickets and a Disney Dining Plan. $471 Select Value Resorts $624 Select Mod. Resorts Most nights 10/2-11/24 *(fine print says to ask for other great rates 11/28-12/17)

I asked if this could be applied to our existing ressie at AKL for the dates 12/3-12/7 and they said "yes". Here's the savings breakdown as I see it:

Our current Room Only cost is $854.45 for 4-nights Pool View at AKL
I figure 4-days Park Hopper for 3 adults as $824.85 (Undercover Tourist)

Total $ 1,679.30 If we added a meal plan, it would be $2,195.30

The C.M. broke the " Big kids offer" down the best she could and it came to:
Total $1,985.52...but I factored needing to upgrade to a Park Hopper and it was $2,135.52

So, as I figure the bottom line savings as being $59.78 and we would then be tied down with the stricter cancellation policies of a package and the loss of meal flexibility with the Dining Plan. :headache:

It was exhausting doing the math, but in our case (if I did it correctly) it pays for us to skip the "deal". I'm only breaking this down because I know a lot of you are bummed for not getting this recent Pin Code. But look at the bright side, sometimes deals aren't as great as they may seem!

I just re-read my post, and I want to make it clear that I'm not knocking the "offer" itself. I was simply pointing out that these deals aren't necessarily good deals for everyone. You really need to analyze them based on your resort, ticket types, etc... I was feeling so left out when it seemed as if everyone was getting these Pin Codes but me, but now I realize that they aren't always the best way to go. Bottom line...do the math before booking and don't cry if you don't get one. ;)

Just curious. What are you using as the cost for the DDP for the 3 adults? Thanks.

No, she could not. The only way I could figure the savings was to do this:

Our cost w/out the Pin Code
$2,195.30 (4 day/4 night AKL, Park Tickets w/Hopper, Dining Plan
(not doing it, but for figurings sake)

MINUS

"Big Kid Special"
$2,135.52 (4 day/4 night AKL, Park Tickets(factoring in having to add a Hopper), Dining Plan

= $59.78

I know this really didn't answer your question, but it's the best I can do. :)

Oh I think I misunderstood you. Did you figure the 2195.30? Is so what did you use for the componet of the dining plan? You have three adults so what did you use for each adult. OR did you get the 2195.30 from CRO before you had a pin??

Ah ha, I think I understand your question. To figure in the cost of the D.P. without the code, I used the amount that the C.M. told me of $43 a day. I have not double checked this amount, but I figured it was correct (she might have rounded it off). I believe the total was $516 (3 adults/4 days). Does this answer your question? :wizard:

I did not actually get a pin (no surprise there :) ) but my kids Mom is coming with us this trip and she did get one. I had a total of 3 reservations at Pop Century for November 2009. I was able to upgrade to the DDP from the Quick Serve plan for all 3 reservations while keeping my rooms at a value resort.

My savings with the Big Kids Pay Little Kids Prices Pin Code.

Reservation 1: (11/6/2009 - 11/15/2009)
ME, DD16, DD14
9 Nights Standard Room
10 Day MYW, PH, WP
Disney Dinning Plan
Original Cost: $3,228.00
w/ PIN Code: $2,548.00
-----------------------
Savings: $ 680.00

Reservation 2: (11/6/2009 - 11/15/2009)
2 Adults
9 Nights Standard Room
10 Day MYW, PH, WP
Disney Dinning Plan
Original Cost: $2,508.00
w/ PIN Code: $2,055.00
-----------------------
Savings: $ 453.00

Reservation 3: (11/6/2009 - 11/10/2009)
2A, 1 Child, 1 Infant
4 Nights Standard Room
5 Day MYW, PH
Disney Dinning Plan
Original Cost: $1674.00
w/ PIN Code: $1430.00
-----------------------
Savings: $244.00

So all in all a savings of $1377.00

As near as I can tell I am being charged 21.00 per night for the Disney Dinning Plan or a upgrade of about 12.00 over the cost of the QSDP.

To figure this out I took the total from Reservation #1:

Package Cost: 2548.00
- Room Only: -1063.00
- Tickets : - 906.00 (3) - 10Day, PH, WP (child cost 302.00 ea)
----------------------
Balance: 579.00 (Cost of Disney Dinning Plan after PIN applied)

579.00 / 9 nights / 3 people = ~21.45 per person per day.
