I had my first dinner at California Grill last night. The food is incredible! I had the scallops with risotto and it was cooked to perfection. Two of my dinner mates had the bison and another had the filet. All the food was great. I'm glad we had the dining plan, our tab would have been about $300, with the plan we payed about $80 which included the tip. Our reservation was for 5:50pm. Perfect timing had us done at 7:55pm, just in time for the fireworks. Watching from the observation deck was one of the highlights of our trip. Just magnificent.
On the down side, I was surprised how loud the restaurant is. We had a problem hearing each other sitting at the same table. Another thing was the whole private elevator to access the restaurant. There are three elevator bays but they only use one to bring a few people at a time up to the restaurant. Same thing when leaving, one elevator working to bring everyone back down after fireworks. Seems silly to me.
I'm not sure if I would eat there again. Like I said, the food was great, one of the best meals I've had at Disney, but without the dining plan I don't think I could afford to eat there very often. It isn't some place to have a romantic dinner, it's just to loud.
