:( Well, I blew it for the first time since starting this new way of life! Grrrr....

I took the girls to the zoo today (the best children's zoo in the U.S. BTW) and to see Finding Nemo. Well, afterwards it was raining, so we went into the Stonecold Creamery next to the theatre. I had ice cream and peanut butter and chocolate. It was heavenly, but probably 200 g of carbs! I only got a kids size, but I feel like such a loser...

I hate food! I love food! I hate food! I love food!

I'm hoping I get so sick in a little bit that I'll swear to myself that I'll never do that again!

Does anybody know if WATP makes a 19 mile tape? That's probably how far I'll have to walk to redeem myself from this sin!

:( :( :( :( :(

I started the carbo addicts diet on Oct 13, 2002 and this June switched to full Adkins. Most days I do under the 20 carbs but ocassionally I treat my self too. I contintue to loose about 1/4 to 1/2 a pound a day. My total lost is around 80 pounds thus far. If you do fall off just return to the diet your next meal. I have had occasional cake(my birthday) and ice cream. If i am invited to a party I have the desert just a smaller piece than I use to. Dieting is not about punishing your self or beating yourself down. Its a way of life. I still have 80 pounds to go but am confident I can do it. It takes 3500 calories to gain a pound so I am sure you will find your treat to you was ok. I have tried the new adkins ice cream cups choc or vinalla a(the best) and its 4 carb. I just elimatethe veg that I usually have. Great choice ha. Keep up the good work and go on likeyou never had the ice cream. The only person who will beat you up is you.

Hang in there Firecracker. I hate food too! I long for the day where I look at food as "food to survive, not survive for food". I feel like I think about food all the time. It is getting better since I've been on Atkins but it's still there. At least you caved with my all-time favorite Peanut Butter & Chocolate :p. Just pick up where you left off and keep going.

We'll do better tomorrow! I caved in tonight and had pizza since I REALLY wanted it - and I had been eating low-carb for almost two weeks and doing ok. Don't beat yourself up too bad...

Don't worry about it! We all have those days where we mess up a little! Tomorrow is another day and you will be fine! :) Don't be so hard on yourself! :)

Okay now, you slipped, get up brush yourself off and let's get back on track!! You can do this!! Tomorrow is another day and another chance to get it together! :)

You would never know how far you'd come if you didn't have a set back once in a while.

It wasn't a defeat...just a minor setback. It'll happen and as long as you get right back on track you will be fine. Hang in there!

Although I'm a religious Weight Watcher, I'm reading Dr. Atkin's book, and one of the facets of his plan is that it is NOT a crash diet. It is a way of life. He even makes provisions for things like this in his plan, and so you DIDN'T screw up. You followed his plan.

I'd have to re-read the specifics, but I believe you are just supposed to do Induction to get yourself back into fat-burning mode.

It wasn't a slip-up/failure/screw-up (insert failure synonym here). It was PART of your plan. Just get back into Induction mode, and you'll be fine! :)

The important thing is that you enjoyed it while you had it and now you will move on. It's over, think about (and maybe put in writing) how you felt after having this so that if the temptation strikes again, you will think twice.

Congrats, you're human!! (This coming from a major faller off the wagon!) ;)

Well, I blew it for the first time since starting this new way of life! Grrrr....

Instead of focusing on this one small slip, think of all the days you HAVE stayed on plan. That is the important thing!! And there are far more of those days than "slip" days!! I see that you have a 10 lb clippie and the one week exercise clippie, so you are making very good progress! Don't be too hard on yourself for begin human. We all fall off the wagon every now and then. Just jump right back on and hang on, 'cause this wagon is going places!

are the opposite of growing pains our little kids experience. You're gonna have these as you start losing the weight. One thing I have found is that I can't order myself a big dessert "by myself" - I have cheated over these past four months but nothing to the extent I used to. Now if I want chocolate- I'll order a Molten Volcano at Chili's for the kids to split- wait till they're finished with what they can eat and I eat the last 4-5 bites- it's good but not lethal. I'll take them to the ice cream shop- and they are all sweet and let me have one spoonful of each of their flavors- again, good not damaging. I give my 4 year old 1 stick of a Little Debby nutter bar knowing she never can finish one stick- and she brings me 1/2 of it and I eat it- again flavorful without guilt. So don't knock yourself about with this transgression- it's just one dessert and there will be many more over the next months - just go for the taste not the bulk! :)

You came to the right place- and you'll have lots of ammo the next time you want to take the plunge!! :)

I have a friend on Atkins who goes off of the eating plan for special occasions or vacations. Afterwards, she goes on induction and she never gains from her overeating. Not that I'm suggesting this, I just don't think a child's ice cream is going to get you that off track. You'll be fine!!

I too went to the stonecold creamery but unlike you who only had a child's portion I opted for a double scoop of some kind of very fattening german chocolate thing in a waffle cone! So be proud of yourself that you only had a small serving. On any food plan we have to remember that this is a life plan, and sometimes we all have to sample and indulge in the danger foods, if not I know I especially would feel cheated and go hog wild, kind of what I did last night! So just quit beating yourself up and go forth from here. With all the support on these boards you will be able to suceed in your weight loss. Good luck!

Don't be so hard on yourself. You can just start again.

I felt terrible, too, when I cheated, and I only lost 5-lbs. during the first month on Atkn's, but I kept with it because I remember how I wasn't hungry and I generally felt better.

We can do it.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

You've gotten some great advice, Firecracker.

You couldn't have said it better, Cindy. Don't beat yourself up for one slip.

I've always said we should worry about what we do 90-95% of the time instead of the 5-10%. If I would have done that for the past 10 years, I wouldn't be in the situation I'm in with my weight right now!! I always tend to let one screw up ruin my week. LIKE THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE!!

I'm doing the low-carb Herbalife program which is pretty much like doing Atkins but with Herbalife products. My husband and I are always saying, "It's Herba-LIFE, Not Herba-DAY or Herba-WEEK!" Same thing for all of us. I have to keep telling myself that this is for the long haul.

And let's think about this for a minute. If we have one slip a week, (which ofcourse we try not to have, but for the sake of demonstration........;) ) then that's 52 slips A YEAR!! BUT......that's 313 DAYS WE STAYED ON PROGRAM!!! Now that would be fantastic, right??

Just keep plugging, Firecracker. That's all any of us can do.
