:dance3:This trip is for my 32nd b-day on Sept 10th, woot!! Last time I was at WDW was 3 yrs ago at the end of June. Holy hot noodles!! :sunny: I have lived in central Florida my entire life and had never gone to WDW in the summer. Always did family trips in December. Needless to say, I learned my lesson. Hot & crowded... not my cup of tea.

The Basics
The cast-Me, Janet-31 almost 32, :tinker:. has Seasonal AP and will be getting TIW once we get to WDW. I am an admitted picky eater with heart issues (CHF) on top of it & on low sodium diet. This should prove interesting. I have read that if you notify dining in advance they can help you out, but I figure as long as I drink lots of water, take my meds, not overdo it, and eat my bananas daily I can splurge on some yum-yums.

DBf, Jay-35,:goofy:, also has Seasonal AP. He is the adventerous eater between the two of us and looking forward to the drinks:drinking1... specifically trying his hand at Drinking Around EPCOT, oh and to make me happy too. He is not as much of a Disney fan as I am but does like Goofy, Donald Duck and Figment :figment: (that was an interesting revelation lol.)

Hotel-Will be staying at the POP Sept 8th-11th, requested a standard room with king bed, since just the two of us-NO KIDS TRIP. I haven't stayed here before so no idea what to expect. Have stayed at ASMovies twice so I know what the value hotel is like but wanted a different experience this time. I know I would prefer lake view & quiet, but I will accept what the computer assigns me if it gets me closer to the buses and food court....

Transport-I only live about an hour and 15 minutes away from WDW so I will be driving Bertha (the car) over. :drive: Since I plan on getting over there early am, I am doing the driving, DBf will be sleeping in the car, I am sure.

HAVE HAD TO MAKE SERIOUS EDITS TO PLAN DUE TO CHANGE IN ADR'S AND OTHER ISSUES!!
THE FINAL PLAN AND ADRS!!
REASON FOR DAY CHANGES

YUM-YUMS AND FOOD CHOICES
DRINKING AROUND THE WORLD

Purses, and Lanyards, and Bags, OH MY!!
SHOES, AND BRAS, AND A DOONEY, OH MY!!

Final day, before we leave babbling!! :rotfl:

TR: The Bananas Take on WDW

So this is the start, will continue later today. Work is calling.:badpc::headache:

The Itinerary: Day 1

We have decided that we want a non-planned trip.... Other than what parks we are going to, rides/attractions we are interested in, and where we will be eating with our ADR's. Pretty much get to the park and see what happens. We are not too worried about getting all the rides because we have Seasonal AP's we know we will be going back soon. Actually have a 2 day trip that is planned for end of October for F&W. We were just joking about the fact that if I could plan every second of the day I would, however that is sooo NOT relaxing. So we are gonna try to "wing it" and see where the days take us. I know I want resort time. Just chillaxing by the pool.:cool2: I am thankful we can do this. I really feel for the people who come down here and want to get it all in and for whatever reason cannot see all they want to and leave disappointed.

Day 1 is our arrival to WDW and DHS day. I am hoping to get there at rope drop. I love seeing it and I don't know why.... Must have been ingrained in me as a child. We always got there at open. I loved it. Anyways.... tangent (I do this a lot, I apologize in advance.)

I cannot ride TOT and Dbf won't ride RNR because it goes upside down (how lame of him lol) so while he is on ToT, I will do RNR. We MUST ride the new and improved Star Tours. We are admitted TURBO NERDS and  LOVE  Star Wars. I want to see the Indiana Jones show as well as the Stunt Show, but if that doesn't happen I am not too worried. After we finish all this, hopefully our room will be ready for us so we can go to the POP and get settled in & grab lunch. If not, we will just wander around DHS until the room is ready. We are not huge fans of DHS and not really a fan of any of the food there. Hopefully our room will be done sooner rather than later.

We have dinner ADR's at Kona Cafe, followed by Wishes via Poly beach!

I think my biggest fear during this whole trip is that I won't be able to physically handle it, my body tells me I am crazy, and puts the kibosh on the fun to be had. Blah on that.... Happy thoughts!!!

I'm in! Your trip sounds great so far!

You're so lucky that you live so close to WDW!!!

We  Boma!

Day 2

Day 2 is the EPCOT day!! EPCOT is DBf and my favorite park. We both love science and other cultures so we kind of click on EPCOT. I want to get there at rope drop, run to SOARIN, and take flight!! However, slight snag... DBf is deathly afraid of heights and the idea of even fake hang gliding scares the pants off of him. :scared1:
So I am still gonna run to SOARIN and make him get FP for Test Track. After that get on Mission Space and do Test Track. Hopefully this will be accomplished by 11am when WS opens so we can start our mission of Drinking Around EPCOT. :drinking1 :drinking:

Of course I stated in the beginning this is SUPPOSED to be a non-planned "laissez faire" trip.... however with my OCD and anxiety issues over time and planning, well all bets are off about that. :rotfl:

We had lunch ADR at Coral Reef. After much research and reading reviews and opinions and the menu, we have made the educated decision to cancel it. He wants to see the aquarium but I changed my mind. We will probably go for our anniversary trip in January.

Then we were going to do the Biergarten buffet instead..... After reviewing our budget as well as other issues, we decided to just do QS for lunch somewhere. Probably at the Land, maybe not??? We may skip breakfast this day & get there at rd, do the rides we want, then eat after and walk around WS and have a snack later. We will be going back to POP for pool and relax time. Luckily EPCOT has EMH that day so we will be going back anyways, and we have dinner ADR in Japan too.

Just as a side note, having to plan relax time seems like an oxymoron to me... but you gotta do what you gotta do right? :thumbsup2

After relax time, we have to get back to EPCOT for our 8:20PM ADR at Tokyo Dining for my bday dinner:cake:. DBf wants to go see Figment, his favorite Disney character besides Goofy & Donald Duck. Also want to get on Spaceship Earth and then continue our mission. After dinner, WS wander time!! I haven’t really been able to see and check out EPCOT at night so I am looking forward to this!!

Disclaimer: in case you are curious or wondering, I know I am not supposed to be drinking however I know my limit and will be drinking from DBf glass, not my own, except for plum wine and a shot of sake with dinner at Tokyo Dining and probably a Grey Goose slushie in France.

Well back to work... yippy skippy.... :badpc:

Day 3

Day 3 is my actual bday.party: I am super excited. In the past year and a half, I have had some serious medical issues come up. I hate to say this but I am actually really surprised that I made it to another bday. I am in congestive heart failure and specifically have cardiomyopathy caused by a virus. So far all the meds I take keep me going day after day. I am pretty young only 31 and have my two young kids. This past year I have had to completely reevaluate my outlook on life and how I live it. I mean I really love my cardio dr but wish I didn't have to see him all the time. So if you are wondering why someone my age is this excited about turning 32, that is why. I even found on ebay the now discontinued special "It's My Birthday" yellow earhat and bought it without question lol.:earboy2:

Anywho.... I digress tangent again. I do this, mind wanders...

Day 3 will be spent at AK. We are probably going to get to the park later in the am and in order to sleep off our EPCOT induced hangover.

DBf hasn't been to AK yet and he is a marine biologist and ecologist (at least according to his degrees, lol), so he loves the critters. I am sure I will get some type of informative lecture :teacher: while we are there. One of the reasons why I love the guy:love:. Gotta do EE, Kali River Rapids, and the Safari. Gonna smell the roses while walking the Exploration Trail and Jungle Trek and hopefully get to ride the train over to the Conservation Station. If we get to do more, YIPPY!! If not, no worries!

I have made the decision we are eating lunch at Flame Tree. I have eaten there multiple times and actually like it. Not the "best" bbq I have had. That belongs to my friend who owns his own bbq joint in my hometown.

After AK we will go back to POP to relax and change for the evening. We thinking about taking a cab to POFQ or possibly the bus via HS, getting some beignets and walk around a bit. Then catching the boat to DTD for our Ragland Road ADR, then back to POP.

Disclaimer: in case you are curious or wondering, I know I am not supposed to be drinking however I know my limit and will be drinking from DBf glass, not my own, except for plum wine and a shot of sake with dinner at Tokyo Dining. I haven't had either since I got sick and damn it I want some!

So after the festivities of the evening, bed time. Day 4 is check-out and MK day.

Day 3 is planned on being DHS day, at last the beginning. I cannot ride TOT and Dbf won't ride RR because it goes upside down (for only a second, how lame of him lol) so while he is ToT, I will do RR. We MUST ride the new and improved Star Tours. We are admitted TURBO NERDS and :love:LOVE:love: Star Wars. I want to see the Indiana Jones show as well as the Stunt Show, but if that doesn't happen I am not too worried. We want to than go take the boat to the Boardwalk and grab lunch over there somewhere. I originally had ADR at Captain's Grille but cancelled because I don't want to be boggled down by having to be anywhere. After lunch, we might go back to DHS and finish up. Or we might just go back to POP and relax poolside for the afternoon.:cool2:

We have dinner ADR at Raglan Road :shamrock: around 7:45pm. We might do the boat :sail: trip from POFQ to DTD this night instead of day 1. We originally had 'Ohana ressie for this night around 9:15pm so we could hopefully watch Wishes after. Then I looked at the calender and saw there is no Wishes that night.:confused3 Why oh why is there no Wishes on a saturday night???? Thank you internet for that answer. Apparently my bday falls during Night of Joy weekend. So I cancelled 'Ohana and made ADR for Raglan Road. DBf and I love the Irish Pub atmosphere and the menu looks YUUUUMY so we modified.

We will probably end up doing drinking around the monorail like I have read about and watch Wishes from one of the hotel beaches on day 1 after dinner at BOMA.

Thanks for sharing this! my brother had a virus attack his heart last year and we almost lost him! He is 22 and since this happened to him, we all took a hard look at how we are living. He also has to see his cardio regularly, is on daily medication and can't drink much. Sometimes you feel you are the only one going through a situation and it makes things easier when you have someone to relate with. I wish you all the health and birthdays in the world!!!! THank you again for sharing!!

Wow what a small world!! Thank you for sharing about your brother!! This has been the hardest situation I have ever dealt with in my life. With the chf and pending divorce from my kid's dad it has been the most trying and difficult time in my life.

Thankfully I met Dbf (Jay) during all this and he has been my rock. He would say it is a pleasure, I would say I am a big pain in the @$$..... :lmao:

I am curious on thoughts about getting a GAC card and possibly a wheelchair. In general, I know my limits but at the same time I don't want to push my luck either. That is one of the reasons for the planned rest times. However as long as I walk slow and don't go up and down strairs, I should be ok. Also one of the meds has the warning about sun exposure (Lasix). I am sensitive to the sun anyways, I have two shades either white or red..... I saw online this is one of the possible reasons to get a GAC card (to limit waiting in the sun.) Heck I might get to GS, inquire about it, and they will probably look at me and tell me I don't need one based on my age and physical appearance. I don't look sick, just a little pudgy. :confused3 Can't hurt to ask right?

PLANS DID CHANGE AND ADR'S WERE CHANGED -- ACTUALLY HAPPIER WITH THIS PLAN.......

Sooooo based on easywdw.com crowd calender info, looks like we might be changing our plans for day 1 and day 3.

Originally day 1 was AK and day 3 is HS. HS has early magic hours day 3. By the time we get there the park will be pretty full?? There isn't much to do at HS so getting there on arrival day and getting that done should be relatively easy. (I hope.) Also HS is pretty close to POP so we can jet when our room is ready. And if the room isn't ready by the time we are done we can go to the Boardwalk and grab lunch there instead of at HS. I have never had a good meal there. I am not a huge fan of HS honestly. Only a few rides/shows are must sees. Star Tours, RNR for me & ToT for DBf, and the Indiana Jones show.

Since I cancelled lunch and breakfast ADR's, we don't have to worry about that. Heck I might even make a breakfast ADR for Tusker House day 3??? Will look into it.

The calender says to AVOID EPCOT on our EPCOT day but I am choosing to ignore this..... :lmao: Based on the plans we have and considering we are only doing a few attractions and going back and forth we will be fine!!! I hope.:confused3

DBF and I just talked over our itinerary and want to change our dinner ADR's as our plans changed.... and the Dining website is down for maintenance!!!!???? :confused3 :badpc:

At least no one else can schedule anything and grab the ADR's we are hoping for....

if you have not already looked, follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Post 6 of the thread is about Guest Assistance Cards.

There is a stamp for GACs that is worded something like "a shaded place to wait when the queue is in the sun for an extended period of time." in actual use, posters have not found it to be very helpful because most queues are pretty well shaded or roofed ( even in Animal Kingdom) and most of the time spent in the sun is actually spent walking from place to place, where a GAC would not help.

There are a couple of queues with stairs (Splash Mountain and Toy Story Mania come to mind). You can get a GAC that would allow you to avoid stairs, but considering that most guests walk between 6 and 9 miles per day at WDW, you would get a lot more benefit from renting a wheelchair or an EVC (power mobility scooter). GAC don't shorten the distance walked in most cases and much of the walking is not in lines anyway, so WDW recommends a wheelchair or ECV for guests with concerns about their ability to walk or wait in lines.

The disABILITIES FAQs thread has information about renting wheelchairs and ECVs in post #2.

Hope you have a great, fun and healthy trip.

I had started to try to change the ADR's around 1:45pm, and not working, no bueno. About 4 hours later I was able to make ADR's at 6:02pm... yippy skippy:banana:

However, I tried to go back in to make sure of the other ADR's and the website is down again. :confused3 Blarg!!

:welcome: Thanks for reading my PTR and thank you so much for the info. I just started on the boards recently and haven't had a chance to really navigate through everything.

I am still evaluating whether or not I will need a wheelchair. My main issue is with stairs. If there are only a few lines that have them, and we are not planning on doing those rides I don't think they will be an issue anyways. I think I will be fine in the stair department. The walking will be a huge pain but I figure if I take it slow and don't over do it I should be ok. I really hate the idea of having to use a wheelchair. Just my own stubbornness and hating to admit I need help. Still not good at that part. :sad2:

In the back of my mind I feel that if I rent one and someone else later in the day really really needs one, and I have it, I would feel awful.

DAY 4-MK DAY & DEPARTURE

Since both of us have been to MK several times in the past years we are not really all that worried about getting on the rides or seeing the attractions. In fact this is probably going to be our sleep in day. We really only want to see the new and improved HM :hmghost:, POTC pirate:, and the Tiki Room. I have a strong desire to eat at Pecos Bill (loved it on my childhood trips), but after reading recent reviews we may just abandon this plan and have a large breakfast at POP before going to MK. After MK, grab Bertha (the car) and drive home. Dbf has to work that night 7p-4a, then at his other job 11a-6p back to back so we don't want to spend too much time at MK.

So that in a nut shell are our plans. Will give more details on food and wardrobe choices.

:banana:WOOOT super excited!!! :banana:I am also looking forward to the posibility of meeting fellow DISers!!!

Hey hun! So, i don't think it woould hurt to consider the wheelchair. If it's a super busy, super hot day, it might be something to consider! THe more comfortable you are, the better trip you are going to have! When we went to WDW in the winter, my brother couldn't ride some of the rides. He also needed many rests, and it worked for him. He didn't do the wheel chair. As for the GAC card, i was reading up on it, and it seems like it doesn't help many (for sun reasons) as they do have most areas covered.

xxoo

I know it's really soon, but...... I bought some really cute sandles from Macy's on sale today. :cool1: I had the trip in mind. Comfy shoes that are cute and will go with all my dresses for our ts dinners. I know some people are ok with shorts and tanks for dinner, but Dbf and I are believers in dressing the part for a nice restaurant.

http://www.clarksusa.com/eng/product/dusk_aztec/35703

I am a huge fan of flowers in my hair (faux of course). I went to Target and there was a nice clearance of some flower hair doo-dads so I bought a pink one and teal one. I plan on wearing the pink one with a long strapless cotton black dress I got for $8 at Macys, so light and comfy. I will probably wear that to dinner at Cape May.
The teal one will go with a totally cute teal cotton kimono-style dress for dinner at Tokyo Dining. I love theme dressing. Not costumy but a subtle tribute.
I have another cute cotton black dress for dinner at BOMA. This one is short though. I got that on clearance at JCPenney for $10. My friend's have named me the best friend to have with you if you need to find a deal. When my best friend was shopping for her honeymoon, she went on a 7day Holland America cruise, I saved her at least $500 on wardrobe!!

I bought Dbf an AWESOME Disney Hawaiian shirt with subtle pics of Mickey & Goofy & Donald on the beach under a palm tree. He is a collector of truly TACKY!!!!! Hawaiian shirts. I figured I would make sure he doesn't totally embarrass me for my bday dinner at Tokyo Dining. ( I am a "slight micro-manager" :lmao: )

Other than that I found some awesome subtle teal color bermuda shorts at Target for $6.50. LOVE IT!!:lovestruc I know most of the stuff will get worn before the trip but I know it will get worn for the trip, except for dbf shirt. That is in hiding until we go!

Thanks for your input!! Good to read first hand knowledge. After looking into the GAC even more, I have to agree that I don't think it will really help. I will just have to wear the heck out of some suncreen. :cool2: We are going in early Sept, in the heat, but on a supposed "uncrowded" weekend, at least according to those crowd prediction websites. Since most of the contact with the sun will be while walking, I don't think it will make a difference. SPF 85 baby!! lol

I have also planned to be at the hotel during the hottest parts of the day. Get to the parks in the am, hopefully we can get most of the attractions done early, grab lunch, then go back later in the evening for our dinner ADR's. This was supposed to be a non-planned trip..... well that isn't happening, is it? :rotfl:

The last time I tried to go for an all day event that involved a lot of walking was April 2010 for my son's OM competition. I had to get a wheelchair for that. That is when I was at my worst and just getting diagnosed and treated.

I am so much better now, but do get tired if I try to do too much. I am gonna have to think it all through but I will probably get a wheelchair at least one day, either AK or EPCOT, possibly both. Those will both be long days. And if I rent one in the AM and come back then I can always get another one with my receipt when we return if need be, I did see that bit of info.

Just to mention again, we are using TIW, have AP, and paying for all meals OOP. I looked into the AP package price w/ DDP for this but it was not effective for us, so we stayed with our cheaper room rate and will be paying OOP. We want to enjoy ourselves but do not want to blow $$$ either. We are not cheap, we appreciate good quality food and are willing to pay for it as long as it is not crazy expensive. I will post our savings with TIW after we come back.

We are planning on going light for breakfast and lunch and eating more for dinner:
Day 1 lunch-not sure yet, either POP if room ready:thumbsup2, or DHS QS
Day 1 dinner-Kona Cafe, then Wishes at Poly beach!!

Day 2 lunch-EPCOT QS, not sure yet? so many choices
Day 2 dinner-Tokyo Dining. I KNOW I will get sake and plum wine and grilled steak. Dbf is planning on the Bento Box with sake and a Kirin. We are creatures of habit lol. I saw online a pork belly app and if it still available we will try it. We are huge pork fans.... YUM!! And a piece of the choc-ginger cake. Love that stuff

Day 3 lunch-Flame Tree BBQ, I am a fan!! Planning on getting 1 rib plate and 1 chicken plate and sharing the two between us.
Day 3 dinner-Raglan Road, scallop forest and bread pudding calling my name

Day 4 lunch-gonna wing this one. I want Pecos Bill but have read the quality has gone down hill. It was probably better in my memories. We might say to heck with it and just eat a big breakfast and get Krystal on our way home to Melbourne. We used to have one but it closed down. So very tragic for us Melboring residents lol.....

Still trying to decide on breakfast options.

Random snack MUSTS:
-dole whip
-carrot cake cookie at HS
-pastry from France or Norway
I am sure I am missing something. Side note: I really want a turkey leg but I doubt that will happen due to the low sodium diet...... :sad2:
________forgot the beignets at POFQ!!! knew I forgot something______
