My Feet Are Killing Me and I Want a Lollipop 6/17-6/24 (Complete 7/24)

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Seriously LOL about your list of things at the water parks, I couldn't agree more - speedos, ill fitting suits, everything!

Sometimes it just seems things don't go your way, lines, slow cast members, etc., but you just have to make the best of it and it seems you did! I love the PP pictures you have - I haven't ever really taken advantage of this service, but the pictures are really wonderful!

I thought since you shared a picture of you cute (and naughty) dog, I would share..Newman, very good, most of the time!

Did you get your paper work in???? Just checkin!

Have a great weekend!
Erin

You should try Photopass. And if you do, make sure you take advantage of the pre-pay which saves you $50.

Awww. Look how cute he is !! I can see him being a more laid back and less mischievous version of our bad dog. Seriously, I just fished a colored pencil out of her mouth. Well, all of the little tiny pieces of it. Thanks for sharing !!

I DID get my paperwork in and I've called back about five times to make sure she got it, but ... no answer. So I hope everything is in order.

I hope you have a good weekend, too !!

Susan

After our day at Blizzard Beach, it was back to the resort to clean up and get ready for dinner.

100_2510.jpg

This was a really pretty view and I tried to capture it ….. but failed miserably.

100_2513.jpg

100_2516.jpg

100_2517.jpg

Once we got into our villa, I couldn’t get to my painkillers fast enough. Oof !! We all took a shower and DD went for a “swim” in the tub. She saw herself in the faucet and proclaimed “My hair is GREEN !!!” And it was a little bit. I am sure all of the blondes out there know that this can happen if you swim too much. When I was on swim team one year I had green hair for months afterward. I think the chemicals are better these days and they have better products to get the green out. I shampooed it an extra time and it looked better once it was dry. We relaxed a while, watched tennis and I rotated my laundry crop.

We had 5:15 reservations for

100_2518.jpg

At this dinner, we would use the last of our table service credits.

We sat down and I immediately ordered a Celtic Cocktail

100_2520.jpg

Where upon it mixed nicely with my Vicodin. Ah yes. I did decline a refill when he asked me if I wanted one. I did want to be able to walk back to the car.

DH got the beer flight

100_2521.jpg

Here he is double fisting it.

100_2523.jpg

The kids got cokes.

100_2536.jpg

Our waiter, Joe, was super nice and talkative. He brought us some soda bread.

100_2527.jpg

This bread was just strange. It had a sweet taste and it was really thick and heavy. I wasn’t sure what to think of it. We didn’t eat much of it.

We thought we only had 3 TS credits left, so DH and I were going to split something. So we ordered the calamari for an appetizer.

100_2531.jpg

They fried everything on their menu in a tempura type of batter. Which is OK. But not my favorite. The calamari was good and the dip they had for it was good, too. The fried veggies ?? Not so much. Just not my thing. I mean, I love veggies. Just not fried veggies.

So when we were ready to order our entrees, Joe came back and let us know that we actually had four TS credits left . So I quickly ordered the Salmon.

100_2533.jpg

But if I had known that we had four credits, I would not have ordered that appetizer.

DH got the Short Ribs

100_2534.jpg

And another beer.

100_2535.jpg

I really enjoyed my dish and DH enjoyed his as well. Good food.

DS ordered a burger and onions rings.

100_2530.jpg

He said it was good and he ate all of his onion rings. But ate about 2/3 of the burger.

And DD ordered the chicken strips and fries.

100_2532.jpg

Not a crumb left. She loved it.

These windows were very pretty. It is hard to see in this picture, but it had
XOXOX in it.

100_2528.jpg

Then the band and the dancers came out.

100_2538.jpg

100_2539.jpg

They were really fun to watch.

For dessert, DS and I ordered the Dunbrody’s Kiss

100_2541.jpg

It was really good, but I couldn’t eat it all. Neither could DS. So we got them to go.

DD ordered two scoops of chocolate ice cream, with chocolate syrup on the side.

100_2540.jpg

She ate two bites and that was it. I think she was full and not that it tasted bad at all.

DH got the Dundon’s Delight

100_2542.jpg

Which he really enjoyed.

We would definitely eat here again. The food was really good and the dancers were really cool. And the service was excellent.

After dinner we went over to World of Disney to get some new lanyards. Our 99 cent ones just weren’t cutting it. I needed one that was a bit longer. DH wanted one, too.

Here’s mine

100_2549.jpg

Here’s DH’s

100_2548.jpg

And some pins that DD talked me into.

100_2551.jpg

You see how hazy and blurry the pictures are ?? LOL. I think that was how I was seeing everything that night after the pain meds I took. But they worked and that is all that mattered.

Hey Y'all !! I just got a phone call from DVC and they got all of our paperwork and our contract was approved - YAY !!! I can't wait to make our first reservation !!!

I just had to tell you !!

Not like fried veggies?!? I love me some fried veggies. There's a restaurant here that makes these amazing asparagus fries that would absolutely change your mind about fried veggies.

Anyway. Glad you liked Raglan Road. We haven't tried it yet. Irish, like German food, is a bit on the heavy side to me. However that salmon looked delish and light. Might have to give this place a try. DD would love the dancers.

I really like that lanyard your DH got. (Yours is lovely as well.) My current one is giving me fits. It is time to put the non-tradeable pins on it for display, and get another for wearing about the parks. BTW..did you pick up the passholder 40th pin set?

We definitely need to HDDR. Maybe we can do it in October with you guys the night you get in. I would love to do that !!!!

So some "devistating" news today. I found out today that Taylor Swift has rescheduled the shows she cancelled in ATL for OCT 1st and 2nd!!! :scared1: Oh the humanity!! I just KNEW that would happen. Our tickets would be for the Oct. 2nd show, and you know what Oct. 1st is. When I told DD she said, "I guess we'll be selling the tickets, huh?" She said it so matter-of-factly without a hint of disappointment that I think she actually would prefer to miss the concert to to go to Disney. I just can't imagine missing the 40th celebration. Sigh...much to figure out now.

I've had zucchini fries, now !! I love those !! But the fried veggies at Raglan Road were green beans, carrots and broccoli. Which were just weird fried.

We loved Raglan Road. The food is kinda heavy, I guess. The Salmon was very good. Flavored very well and maybe not as heavy as DH's short ribs.
The dancers were cool and so fun to watch.

I got the 40th pin, but not the set. I figured that I still had time .... I could get it on the September/October trip.

I saw that Taylor Swift was cancelled on your facebook status. Bummer that it was rescheduled for Oct 2 !! Too bad she got sick.

It is kinda funny that your DD just naturally assumed that there was no way you were cancelling or even postponing your trip to see the concert. I plan to be right with you at Magic Kingdom that day. Gonna be a great day !! See ?? Even I don't think you will keep the tickets :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

We are heading to OKW in 18 days!!! Thanks for your pictures of the resort! I absolutely cannot wait to get to Disney. This is the first time staying on site for our family, so I have been wondering what to expect, but your pictures have set my mind at ease. Thanks again!

YAY on the DVC! :yay: I'm so happy for you and your family. I also checked out Dave's Rental site and am thinking about that for our next trip after September.

I enjoyed the pics of Raglan Road. I had an ADR there for Sept, but read it was loud and my mom was concerned about that. Was is loud when the dancers come out?

Um, I am going to REALLY show how little I know about Disney...what is happening on Oct 1? I know about the 40th anniversary, but is there something special happening on the 1st? Please don't kick me off the trip report for not knowing...:rotfl:

:welcome: You are absolutely going to LOVE it !! It is a fantastic resort and it has everything that you will need for optimum Disney fun !! We just LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it !! I just know that you will have a wonderful trip !! We have stayed off site and on site. And I will say that you can't beat the economy that off site provides, but the magic and feeling that you get from staying on-site is addicting !!

Let me know your details. How long are you staying ?? Do you have the dining plan ?? Do you have a Studio ?? One Bedroom ?? Kids ?? I wanna hear all about it. And PLEASE, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask !!!

Hey Erin !!

We are Sooo excited about DVC !! You need to rent points. It is the best way to stay deluxe for sure!!

We loved Raglan Road and It was not too loud at all. BUT, we went EARLY. Our ADR was for 5:15 and we were done with dinner about 7:00 PM. So I can't really say how loud it might be later on in the evening. We really liked it !! And even though my pictures completely stunk, the dancers were so cool.

Disney World opened for the first time October 1, 1971. All that was there at the time was the Magic Kingdom. So, the 40th Anniversary of the park opening is this coming October 1st. And my family and one my VERY dearest and bestest friends from Middle and High school will be there at the same time with her daughter, so we plan to spend some time together at MAgic Kingdom that day. Oh, and it is completely her fault that I am addicted to Disney now :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: But I love it, since it is a special thing that we can share

You need to get on Netflix and watch some of the Disney documentaries. So much fun Disney stuff out there to watch and read while we are waiting for our next trip.

What are your dates for your September trip ??

Susan

We would definitely be eating early too, so it sounds like Raglan Road would be okay.

Thanks for the heads up that Oct. 1 is the exact anniversary. I think it's great that you have a lifelong friend to share it with! I am still very close to several of my best friends growing up and I cherish their friendship so much. Unfortunately, I am the only one of us who loves Disney, but we have started an annual trip to New Orleans (without kids), which could sort of be described as a Disney for adults. :rolleyes1

We are going September 24 until October 1. My parents are going September 23 until September 30 because of their flights. We were going to head home on the 1st, but now I am thinking of staying another day just to be in the Magic Kingdom. We're driving so we could do it...even if we stayed off site Saturday night.

I've been watching some of the Disney programs on Netflix. I love Netflix through the Wii. I think I'll go and watch another one now. Have a great night!

Thanks jecskc! I may just take you up on asking questions, as my mind is starting to race with the trip coming so quickly! We are family of 5, my kids are older 21-DS,19-DS,15-DD and we are staying in a 2 bedroom/2 bath. I figured we would have plenty of room and that 2nd bathroom will certainly come in handy with my 15yr old DD and her loooong showers and being in front of the mirror! LOL We didn't get the dining plan. My thoughts were that we like to eat whenever...have picky eater in group...and really not wanting to be on a schedule. (I did place an order with Garden Grocer for some breakfast stuff, water, snacks though.) We are happy to just let things happen and relax. On a schedule 51 weeks of the year ya know. ;) Maybe next trip we will try the dining plan. Can you recommend any particular area to request at OKW?

My DD is a huge fan of Irish dancers. I had heard not so great reviews of Raglan Road. I just night have to put it on the try it list! food looked yummy

You will have plenty of space with a 2 bedroom for sure. We had the one bedroom with two kids and it was plenty of space.

I have heard good things about Garden Grocer and the full kitchen that you will have will be very convenient. Definitely take advantage of Olivia's, which the the table service restaurant, and Good's To Go, which is the counter service. They both serve good food and they are close by. Also, when you stay at Old Key West, you are VERY close to Downtown Disney. Just a boat ride away to all kinds of good restaurants. We drove down so we had our car and that was very convenient. Keep in mind that when it rains, they suspend boat service and you will have to take the bus back to the resort. We always have our car with us, so we rarely use Disney transportation.

Looking at the map here

http://www.kingdom-travel.com/Walt_...d_Key_West/Disney_Old_Key_West_Resort_Map.pdf

I would say that the best buildings to stay in are Buildings 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 62, 63 and 64. We were staying in building 54. Which is WAAAYYYY at the back of the resort. They always have buses running which is good. But if you get stuck back there, you might have to plan ahead. As we were driving, though, there always seemed to be a bus arriving at the bus stop at the end of our road.

OKW is a very relaxing resort, I think. You and your family will really enjoy it !!

My DD is a huge fan of Irish dancers. I had heard not so great reviews of Raglan Road. I just night have to put it on the try it list! food looked yummy

I have never read a bad review of Raglan Road, which is why we chose that restaurant. That and the fact that it was close to our resort. We REALLY enjoyed it. And the Irish dancers were cool. On the day we went, we were very tired from the water park and my back was killing me, but we still had a good time. We went EARLY and got seated right away. We were very pleased with it for sure.

I must have been typing when you posted about the DVC contract closing. Woo Hoo!! Congratulations!!!! :cheer2: I'm available for travel Labor Day weekend. :lmao:

So I asked DD this evening whether she wanted to go to Disney or see Taylor. Without hesitation she said Disney. She didn't even ask if we could wait to go to Disney after Taylor or anything. (That would be the next discussion if she was upset about missing Taylor.) Ahhh another addict created! :rotfl: It turns out that Blake Shelton and the JaneDear Girls are going to play the Georgia National Fair on Oct. 8! I think we are going to shoot for that. Since the tickets were a birthday present, it is a good swap. She really likes the JaneDear girls. Maybe if she sees them live she'll be inspired to take up the fiddle..um... I mean violin. :lmao:

I wasn't all that jazzed about seeing Taylor again anyway. She puts on a good show, but this year she's playing downtown as opposed to the arena near us. There have been a lot of car jacking incidents in the city, so I wasn't feeling to safe about going. I would prefer her dad take her.

We would definitely be eating early too, so it sounds like Raglan Road would be okay.

Oh if you can work it out stay for the anniversary. No official celebrations have been announced, and the talk is there won't be anything big to commemorate it b/c 40 isn't a "big" anniversary like 25 or 50. Festivites or not, it will be great just to be in MK on "the" day. mimiecp, I see you're from Raleigh. My sister and cousin live in Wake Forest and the company I used to work for had a research facility in Research Triangle Park. I really like the area. I could live there, and there aren't too many places I say that about.

Besides Netflix there is a really cool thing on You Tube with Walt talking about what Epcot was supposed to be. I think it is an old episode of the Wonderful World of Disney. It is in three or four parts, and is truly fascinating. I haven't found that on Netflix, yet- it could be there. If not you should check it out on You Tube.

Thank you so much for the info. I was under the impression that the lower numbered rooms were for DVC members, so I was figuring we would be in a room further away from hospitality house and restaurants. I guess it can't hurt to ask though. We will have a car too, so that will help getting around. Won't mind having your #54 building in the back. And I know they want to do Downtown Disney...so the boat trip will be great! (we've be to Orlando 5 times before and never did Downtown Dis) Again, thanks! Your advice/info is really appreciated! :flower3:

Girl, we are sooo excited about DVC !! We are going to try to book a place the last four nights of the September/October trip and just let my sister and her family have the RCI place at Silver Lake. You and your DD need to come and swim with us !! Don't tempt with the Labor Day stuff, now !!

I'm not surprised that your DD chose Disney over Taylor. You have a way of reeling us all in !! I love Blake Shelton, but I don't know who JaneDear is. I don't listen to country as much as I used to. The radio stations in Columbia suck, so we listen to satellite radio in the car and the kids the like the top 20 stuff. When they aren't with me, I mostly turn the radio off and enjoy my few minutes of alone time and some peace and quiet.

My DD loves Taylor Swift, but I am not a concert person. Too many migraine triggers.

It is good that you will have a car. OKW is a very spread out resort. We just drove up to all of the places we wanted to get to. It was a little too far to walk, but not far to drive at all.

Downtown Disney .... we like it. It's a cool place. I know you will love it !! Bring money. Lots of it. And it is SOOO close to OKW. I think my DH even got some photos of it from a walk he took near our unit. He could see the Cirque Du Soleil building from one the paths he was on when he was out smoking one of his nasty cigars.

I am definitely going to look into staying one more day. I just turned 40 last year and it seemed like big milestone to me. :)

Raleigh is a very nice place to live. I'm a Yankee transplant from PA and my dh is from England, but we've been here since 1997 and we're here to stay. I like Wake Forest a lot; we thought of buying a house there, but stayed in Raleigh because I work downtown and I didn't want to commute that far. It's a great place to raise a family.

I will check out the YouTube video. Thanks for the tip!

It is all wrong I tried to change it yesterday, but our internet services is acting up and keeps bailing on me. This had a queen size sofa bed and a twin in the chair. I was really happy for the chair fold-out. It meant less bickering from the kids. The kids said that the beds were pretty comfortable. More so than regular pull-outs. Sorry this photo is so dark. The room itself wasn’t really dark. I guess I didn’t have the flash turned on. I am not the best photographer as you will see.
