I had posted about my fear of flying before our trip. This was my first flight. (at age 40, can you believe that?) Well, the fear is gone. Flying is no big deal. We hit bad turbulence going to Portland Oregon on the way home, the Pilot wouldnt even let the attendants bring drinks. But, he told us to expect it, so it wasnt a worry. The one thing I didnt like and didnt expect was my ear pain! I got a bit of a head cold waiting for the monorail one night in the rain, so I guess that did a number on my ears on the way home. Just the landings. Boise landing was horrible on my ears, and i was deaf for about an hour after we got home too! My daughter, 6, was in tears too. Even with the earplanes. My hubby and son , 4, had no problems at all. I took decongestants too, but I guess it didnt do the trick. Would I let that stop me from going to Hawaii? No way.
I think the way I got over my fear was simply for my kids. I dont want them to grow up with a fear of travel. You can do anything for your kids, ya know? (but, Id prefer direct flights form now on... too many landings are painful)
