After Disney security leaves, the officer finishes taking my statement. We were leaving the next day, so I could not sign a warrant on the individual. Now I am going to have to fly down to Florida for the day 2 times. The first, to sign the warrant, the second to go to criminal court.
The next few days were christmas holidays, but the sheriff's dept. called us several times to let us know that our case was top priority. They said that it might take a while to investigate, because Disney hides alot of things, but we would eventually be able to know who the individual was, and how they were disciplined.
After Disney stated that we "would never hear from them again", they called us to let us know that they were not going to finish their investigation until the criminal investigation was through.
We are not looking for financial gains. I am sure we could have already had our vacation paid for by Disney and more. If they would have just said that they were sorry that this had happened, and just let me know the outcome of the investigation I would have been happy. But now we are going to go through a long, drawn out process.
This was my 34th trip to WDW, and my last for a long time. This has definately tarnished my view of them.

A similar thing happened to me at MNSSHP with Chip (or Dale) in a ghost costume. At the time I thought I was just imagining it, but after reading your report, I wonder if it was intentional. I have never gotten close enough to another character since then, though. Sick people can show up anywhere. It is unfortunate if Disney just tries to cover this up instead of dealing with the employee appropriately.

You're kidding, right? I think you have really overestimated the severity of that you think happened. You are not entitled to a "free vacation and more" nor would Disney offer you one. ::yes::

Unbelievable. It's probably some poor 16 year old girl who accidentaly brushed you. I'm astonished at the lengths you are going to.

...and to fly to Florida twice to try to prosecute what is probably some poor college girl who had the misfortune of wearing a hot bulky costume that was hard to see and move in. Sorry, I find that rather sad. :(

And also that you would let it tarnish your view of a wonderful place that you have been to many times. That you couldn't brush it off and continue to have a good time.

You're flying down twice to pursue this nonsense?

Hey, I wasn't there, but I certainly know the difference between accidental bodily contact and groping. I assume the person assaulted does too. Do you all really think the authorities would go this far is it seemed like an honest accident?
Just my 2 cents....
Anne

I agree that it seems like a lot of trouble to fly down twice, plus you say you just want to know how the investigation went?? Jusy my opinion but the person in the suit(M or F) probably did not know what they were grabbing and was just in fun. I'm sure that through ths costume it is hard to tell what or anything you may be touching. IMHO i believe it was probably a college girl in that suit anyway, and just as many other thing today it gets blown way out of proportion.

Did you ever think that after Chip wrapped the scarf around you that maybe she was trying to find the end of it to grap and accidentally grabbed you instead?? And the police have a responsibility to investigate a claim, whether or not it is ridiculous. That is why budgets are strained.

Just goes to show that people will start lawsuits over anything!! Pretty sad when things come to this!! I think the whole thing sounds fishy!! I mean you want nothing-- but you are going to pay all this out of pocket expenses for "nothing". RIGHT!!

I suppose that if you sue and you get money out of it, since you are not out for money , you will refuse the money right? And you will take the loss of the money you put out for all this senseless issue, right?
This is the country where people sue anyone for anything!

This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Please tell me this is an early April Fools joke. Maybe Disney responded they way they did because of the stupid nature of all this. I'm sure they rolled their eyes and tried to figure out how much you wanted. To get the police involved is just downright insane! I can't believe they even did anything, but it is their job and they probably figured if they didn't take it seriously you would come after them next.
You want nothing out of them, yet you are going to spend all this money out of your own pocket? Puleese!
Things like this have gotten WAY out of hand. It was an honest mistake...get over it!!

I will tell you what happend to my 8 yr old DD 2 years ago.

We were eating breakfast at 1900 Park. My DD wanted White Rabbits autograph so she went up to him.

WITH ALOT OF FORCE SHE WAS PUSHED TO THE FLOOR BY THIS RABBIT.

I did not see it and thought that maybe my DD tripped or fell when she came crying over to me to tell me just what that mean rabbit did to her. Later I talked to a person who asked me how my DD was because she saw my DD being pushed by the Rabbit. I was so angry. 1st for not believing the Rabbit would push my DD then for thinking it was an accident. This woman told me she felt it was not an accident and that the Rabbit was being very forcefull. I wanted to CRY !!!

We did not do anything but I really wish I would have.

Sometimes I think that when who ever male or female are walking around in those outfits they think they have an excuse to be mean.

2 years later my DD will still tell the story of the mean white rabbit.

Mbaker1277 I believe you but may not of if this had not happend to my DD

I can't believe the way some of you are flaming the OP... What is it that MANY DISers like to say when someone disagrees with them or posts something that upsets them? Oh yeah, I remember... Hit the back button!!!!

I don't believe that the OP asked for anyone's opinion on what happened, she is sharing her experience. Whether it was groping or accidental touching, we don't know the facts because we weren't there.

Incredible!!!!

hmmm, so you can tell people that you disagree with what they did, but they can't tell the OP that they disagree with what she did

I agree with the OP!!! First, there is definately a BIG difference between an accidental 'brushing' or 'touching' contact, and what the OP is describing! I too initially thought about the bulky costume, etc... But, here is the clincher for me. It was ENTIRELY inappropriate for Chip to encircle somebody in his scarf and pull them up to him like that! Believe me, Disney knows about 'lawsuits', 'accidents', 'personal contact', etc... These characters are VERY WELL TRAINED in what they can and cannot do. This type of 'restraining' or 'holding' is simply NOT allowed.... That action with the scarf could really be the clincher in the case.

The other CM/assistant involved apparantly knows this, and was trying to interject. The OP should definately make sure that the law enforcement are aware of this, and that this person is also questioned.

Whether Disney likes it or not, in this country, a person IS entitled to make a complaint and to be informed of what actions were taken. If I had been treated the way the OP was by Disney Security, then I too would wonder just what is going on with Disney, and I would have been tempted to involve the legitimate law enforcement agency. Just in this one thread alone, there are several others who allege the exact same type of inappropriate contact.... If NOBODY was to report this to the authorities... Then how would it ever be addressed???

The other clincher is this.... If I did not recieve my film back IMMEDIATELY, then this is effectively obstruction of justice by DISNEY. Disney has effectively taken and concealed evidence!

If Disney feels that this is just a potential 'frivolous' lawsuit where the person is making false claims for monetary gain.... The thing to do would be for them to have handled it correctly to begin with. It sounds like their approach, and their admission that they would NEVER contact the complainant again, which lead the OP to feel that they should turn to the authorities in order to follow through with the situation.

Notice how Disney went from "never contact you again" to knocking on the door minutes after the local authorities arrived...

Also, the OP's husband, being in law enforcement, is VERY aware of all of these issues and legalities! Why would he have called in the authorities and support his wife here, if he would clearly know that she did not have a case?????

It saddens me to see this. The most magical part of our trips is the wonderful character interaction- Pluto licking DS's face, Chip and Dale playing keep away with the kids hats etc! I just hope that a few people don't ruin it for the rest with these types of reactions!
