My Egg hasn't hatched

Does the hatched egg show on your signature forever then as the egg or as the critter that hatches out of it?

It hatches into something sometime around the date stated under the egg. You just don't know what it will hatch into until it does. As you can see, my egg has hatched into dynamite. And each month, they're supposed to grow. I'm afraid to see what my little baby becomes next month.
