Hey everyone!

While I am waiting for Maggimus to get back here with her trip report and photos :goodvibes I thought I would post the pics of my dress, as so many of you fabulous Disers were a big help in the selection and design of this dress. This was soooo much fun to do, and I even got to design the pattern of the lace! :cloud9:

I hope all DisBrides have as much fun looking for The Dress as I did! :sunny:

Disclaimer: The photos are just taken with a digital camera and not adjusted for color; also I am supposed to say (per my dress designer's request) that the photos are not the best as they are non-professional and do not show details. The dress is more of a creamy color, but the flash whitened everything out. The skirt is duchesse silk satin (please don't let it be too warm on December 14th! I'll melt! I *hate* being hot!) and the lace is silk chiffon in an alcenon pattern. My veil is Belgian "princess lace" hand appliqued on cotton net, and falls to about the edge of the lace on the bottom of the dress. My headpiece is just a very simple headband style freshwater pearl and two colors of golden Swarovski crystals, on gold filled wire. My DF gave me the most beautiful chandelier style gold and freshwater pearl earrings for a wedding gift, and I am wearing those.

Okay, having said all that (whew!) here are the photos.

It is going to be lightly beaded with freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals at the edge of the collar and around the edge of the sleeves. I am really excited, and can't wait to get the dress, which should be in about ten days. This is called "the nick of time" since I leave for WDW and my wedding in 20 days! Hope I don't need many alterations!

I feel very, very fortunate to be able to get to design my dress, headpiece, etc., and to be going to Disney to have a simple, relatively carefree wedding to a man I had given up hope on even existing--much less ever meeting! Three days from Thanksgiving--so I guess it is appropriate that I am counting all my blessings. :Pinkbounc

I love your dress!
Is the front cache-coeur like?

Kimnkel - What an absolutely gorgeous dress!!! You did a magnificent job designing it!!! YOu will look beautiful in it!! Can't wait to see pics!! AND, how cool... you are going down the day before I get married! :cool1: I'll be looking for your ears... :goodvibes

kimnkel- YES!! YES!! I do absolutely love your dress!!

That is certainly something I would love myself. I love the lace on the top and the ribbon! The lace is very detailed- which goes perfect with the bottom half! I dont think you will burn up- We were there for shorts weather- but the last 2 days of our trip were nothing short of jackets and jeans! I love it- now go ahead and post the photos you have of you IN the dress!

Thank you! But....Hmmm...I am embarassed to admit that I don't even know what that means! Does it mean like a wrap bodice?

:confused3

happylalagirl! Great! You all are close too! It's so exciting! Are you :Pinkbounc like I am? Look for a PIN, though!--I am too shy to wear the ears...

Are you going to MVMCP while you are there? We are--the first night we get there...it'll be like a 20 hour day...so pray for us. It will be terrible if we end up strangling each other after all this planning. :rotfl2:

Maggs: I don't have any pics of me IN the dress yet, ya goose. You are the married one, not me! :teeth: You want to see pics of me playing dress up with the veil and headpiece? I have on the veil--and pajamas! :lmao:

Well, forget it. Those pics are never to see the light of day...

Thanks everyone! But one poster is giving me a hard time about my saying I designed the dress myself. I won't mention this posters name (Maggimus) but she is a friend of mine, so I will let her get away with this total affront to my creativity. :smokin:

Besides, it is a well documented fact that this poster, who shall remain anonymous, but is in fact: MAGGIMUS, is a cynic in the third degree. LOL.

Hey, what was the big surprise Ty was bringing us, anyway? popcorn:: Do we know yet? But I digress.

Here is what I mean by "I designed it myself"; I went to about ten dress shops and tried on about 200 hundred dresses. (No sacrifice is too large to make for The Dress, right?) I then "borrowed" the design elements from each dress that I liked and sketched out a (very crude) design, which my genius dress maker turned into My Dress. I picked out the kind of fabric I wanted, and then out of several different laces we came up with this lace. It was an anal retentive control freak's dream-come-true.

So does that count as designing it myself? Hmmm, maybe not, but it is customish, anyway. :sunny:

Hun! It is gorgeous! I could never have designed my own dress- I can't make a decision on the linen for the tables! Beautiful! It must be so exciting- you get to wear it very soon!

Oh KimNKel- Glad you cleared this up. I thought you were on Project Runway for a moment. I was going to point you at as a celebrity designer on the board but wanted to clear it up in a PM first. Thank you for setting the record straight!

kimnkel - your gown is absolutely gorgeous! Just breathtaking - I love the lace, the ribbon, the box pleats on the back (I had box pleats on my gown and didn't know what they were until I got it, they look amazing on). Best Wishes for your wedding and marrying the man of your dreams :goodvibes

Everyone that thinks that some certain poster, who I won't name but we know as Maggimus is a smart-aleck in the third degree, raise your hands!

:wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

Ah ha! It's unanimous. (Sp?) Anywho, Maggs  No, I am not a *celebrity* from Project Runway. I am not skinny enough, emotionally troubled enough, nor do I have a cool enough hair cut. :chewy:

Thank you, JandJ!

:teeth: you two are cracking me up. kimnkel--your dress is ABSOLUTELY phenomenal. unbelievable. and i think you should definitely take credit for creating your own design masterpiece.

so many people don't have that kind of vision (project runway contestants excluded, of course :teeth: ) and i think it's awesome that so much of your "vision" of your wedding will be displayed through your dress.

so steal all that dress-designing thunder, kimnkel. and like it. :rotfl:

Stunning gown! Wow! I can't imagine all the fun and frustrations in creating a gown with a designer. It's beautiful!

Hopefully you aren't tired of people saying how beautiful that dress is! I know it's been posted a million times, but I just had to say it, too:)
That lace is so beautiful! It's the perfect winter wedding dress. Gorgeous!!!!! :thumbsup2
Can't wait to see the wedding pics! princess:

No, I would never get tired of hearing that you all think the dress is beautiful! :teeth: Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I feel a little like The Dress is a product of this Disney Bride board, because people were so helpful in helping me decide between two dresses, which eventually became this one.

And it really wasn't frustrating, just fun. My dress designer is a genius, seriously, and very sharp about what looks good on different figure types. It may have been a little stressful sometimes, because I went through all of that "what if I am picking the wrong thing?" most every bride seems to go through with their dress. But it's "fun stress", right?

I will post pics as soon as I can after we get back! (DF has threatend locking himself in at the ESPN sports club at Downtown Disney if I start posting on the BB on our honeymoon! ;) ).

And....

You will all be proud to know that I have (so far) resisted the urge to stand on the corner by my house and scan the horizon for the UPS truck. :Pinkbounc Hurry up, UPS!

:happytv: KimNKel- Tell your DF he wont have to go to downtown disney for ESPN- theres one right there on the Boardwalk!!
