So after our magical day at Epcot, we woke up on Tuesday, June 20th and headed straight for Disney-MGM! We got a late start because I had to pick up all my shopping bags that I'd had sent to the gift shop, and apparently I shopped a little more than I thought, so lugging all the bags all the way from El Centro to my hotel room was quite a trek! Then when we got to MGM, my admission ticket didn't work, so the CM had to get me another one (free, thank goodness!). I sent Stacie to ride Rock 'n Roller Coaster while I dealt with getting a new admission ticket, and then I got some breakfast while I waited for her. Stacie is a huge roller-coaster fan, and the artist management company that she works for and that manages me also manages Aerosmith, so she loved this ride. She was actually the one who told me about the 12-year-old boy who died on the ride this week, and we're both so devastated about it. It's so horrible to think about the fun Stacie had on that ride, and then to imagine an innocent child dying on it a week later. It is truly the most tragic news ever, I'm still having a hard time with the news. I just can't understand why horrific things like that happen, and my heart just breaks for the family. I wish there was something we could do to help them, but I'll keep praying for them, and I love the idea that DIS-er had that all of us should flood them with cards and generosity. That is a wonderful idea.
After Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Stacie and I walked around the park to Star Tours. We just fell in love with this park! It is so special, and especially since we're both in the entertainment industry, this was totally the park for us!
We got our Fast Passes for Star Tours and then went to see the Muppet 3D show, which was very cute. Afterward, Stacie and I got fake Disney Princess tattoos -- soo cute! And they lasted a week! Anyway, Star Tours was a total blast, as always. We sat in the back row, and the ride was so bumpy and exciting! This is one of my fave rides at Disneyland, and I loved it even more than usual here at MGM!
Afterward, it was time for our lunch at 50's Prime Time! Omg, this was SO MUCH FUN and definitely a must-do for the next trip! The restaurant was decorated even cooler than I'd expected, I LOVED LOVED LOVED the whole retro 50's vibe! It was like we'd gone back in time!! If only we really had, then I could meet Walt Disney! =) Anyway, they gave us a perfect kitchen table with a TV, and our server, Cousin Joey, was wonderful. He was very much in character and totally adorable and hilarious, but he wasn't at all over-the-top. I started with the onion rings, which were good but I prefer the small ones as opposed to the huge ones. Next was the fried chicken, which was great! But I couldn't finish it (I wanted to save room for the amazing-looking brownie sundae!), so Cousin Joey was all upset. Anyway, he came back carrying a sundae, so I was all excited and thought it was my birthday dessert -- but then I saw that he had put whipped cream over the remainder of my fried chicken!!!! Omg, it was so disgusting and hilarious! Our whole section of the restaurant was laughing for like five minutes! It's creativity like this that makes Disney so great! Anyway, we finally got our real dessert, and Cousin Joey brought it to us with a candle and sang happy birthday. It was such a wonderful and memorable meal!
After lunch, we rode the Great Movie Ride. I thought it was fun and a great concept, but it moved so slowly!
Next, we saw Voyage of the Little Mermaid. What a fun, cute show! I thought Ariel's voice left much to be desired, but the show overall was great and a lot of fun.
Next we did the Studios Backlot Tour. It was cool; the highlight for me was seeing Walt's private plane -- so cool!! But I thought it was nothing compared to Universal's in LA.
Then we went to Walt Disney: One Man's Dream, one of the most special experiences of this trip. Walt is my idol, so getting to see his office and his elementary-school desk with his initials carved on it -- truly incredible!! The movie about him and his life got me so inspired and even more pumped up to conquer my dreams. =)
After One Man's Dream, we saw the Beauty and the Beast show. WOW! This was AWESOME! I'd actually just seen Beauty and the Beast on Broadway a couple of weeks earlier, and I gotta say, I enjoyed MGM's Beauty and the Beast more! Isn't that funny? The Belle in this show was far superior to the Broadway Belle, as were all the singers. The choreography and costumes were so much more fun and entertaining too. This is a definite must-do for the next trip!
After Beauty, it was time for our dinner at Hollywood Brown Derby for the Fantasmic! package. What a restaurant! It was beautiful and we got such a nice booth table. The food was spectacular!! Yet another must-do for the next trip!
We had a couple hours of free time between dinner and the 9:00 showing of Fantasmic!, so I went shopping and rode Star Tours again while Stacie rode Rock 'n Roller Coaster again. And at last, it was time for Fantasmic! WOW, this was the highlight of the day!! Fantasmic! in LA is awesome, but here at MGM, it's in a whole other league! LOVED IT!!
After Fantasmic!, Stacie and I literally ran to the bus stop to MK, and then ran as fast as we could to make it in time for Wishes. Omg, I was totally over running by the end of the trip! Anyway, we saw part of Wishes from the Monorail, which was a pretty good view, and then we made it on to Main Street in time for the grand finale. What a treat to get to see Wishes three times on this trip!!
After Wishes, Stacie and I shopped on Main Street, got ice-cream and then saw Spectro again. Yay!! And after Spectro, it was time to go back to Coronado for our last night at the hotel. =( But what a magical day it was!!
