My Disneyland dining reviews, with pictures

That's crazy. Has Disney always used fake chocolate on their apples or is this a new thing?? I always assumed it was real (have never actually eaten one).

The black "ear" part I could maybe understand not being real chocolate, but there is no excuse for the brown part!

The past couple of years they have used the word "chocolatey" more and more. The apple designs are really cute, but it is dyed chocolatey coating. Some are really obvious like those pictured below (photos from Undercover Tourist). It is my fault that I assumed the Mickey Mouse Club apple was chocolate and not a dyed coating. But man, the amount of food coloring they must have used to get it that dark... :sad2:

Hearthstone Lounge expanded their menu. We used to eat there a lot. I really liked the cobb salad and my spouse liked the burger. More recently (past 6 mos), the quality became super inconsistent. Below are two images of the cobb salad taken on different days.

Cobb Salad - Leaf Lettuce, Arugula, Chicken, Cider-glazed Bacon, Point Reyes Blue Cheese, Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes, Radishes, Soft-boiled Egg, Artichoke, Red Onions, creamy Apple Vinaigrette

And yet another variation of the Hearthstone Lounge Cobb Salad. It used to include chicken. Now they charge extra. Instead of tossing it in the salad, they place a chicken breast on top. Personally, I don't use a knife when eating salads. I would have rather had it cut into smaller pieces prior to serving.

Rainbow cake from Plaza Inn. I don't know what they did to it but it was one of the best slices of cake I've ever had. C63CCE8A-B8D4-471F-B579-57FCC5709598.jpeg
I ordered the fried chicken at Plaza Inn, too, which was as wonderful as always!

I'm glad they stepped up the rainbow cake. It was very bland when I had it a few years ago in DCA and I've avoided the bright colored desserts since. I'll have to give it a try next year.

I honestly didn't have high hopes for it when I put it on my plate lol. It looks sort of dry, but it was moist and flavorful and the frosting went perfectly with it.

Baymax cookie from Lucky Fortune Cookery. There's chocolate inside so I couldn't eat it but everyone else at the table loved it.E38F1B23-18F3-4E9A-B8D7-D4FB07618A35.jpeg
Red Rose tavern breakfast. One of my favorites of my whole trip.

Monte Cristo at Blue Bayou. This was so SO good. It's a huge portion so I only had one piece and shared the rest.

Hard to get good pictures in Blue Bayou since it's dark, but here's the vegan Creme Brulee. Delicious!

My teen didn't like the menu at Blue Bayou so had lunch beforehand and ordered the sundae.

Rancho Del Z Fantasmic dining package. You can't really see them but there are potato tacos under all the garnish. The sauce was spicy so I took it off, but the tacos were excellent. Everyone in our party ordered them. The cake was very good, too!

Pym's peanut butter & Jelly flavor lab. This is one of my favorite simple meals at DCA. Surprisingly good for PB&J!
