Day 2 - Epcot Thrusday, April 18th
Today was Epcot day and I had not been to this park before either so I was in for some new experiences, I was excited. Cookie, Pooh (Sue) and myself had breakfast in the Club room at the Swan and then headed to the ferry to Epcot. We arrived at the International Gateway shortly after the park opend and headed to Test Track. The line was long so we got Fast Passes and walked around. We did Ellen's Energy Adventure first. This was pretty cool, I like Ellen so that helped. A couple of places I was getting sleepy, suprised that my head did not land on anyones shoulder.
Next we did the Spaceship Earth Ride, not too bad, it was nice and cool in there. We headed back to Test Track to use our Fast Passes. When we got in line we ran into Mickeyfaniam (Debbie) and her family, they were just getting Fast Passes so off they went. Test Track was down so after we made sure we could use the passes later we left. We did Honey I shrunk the Audience, there was no wait for this show. I liked this show, granted I really enjoy the 3-D shows alot. It was funny listening to everyone screaming throughout the show, I think I laughed the most at them.
Ice Station Cool was next, I saw SNOW!! LOL, okay it was not real snow but hey I am sure it was something close to it. Oh and I passed on the Beverly, no thank you - I heard about here. I liked most of the other flavors though. We had lunch ressies @ Le Cellier for 1:30 so we headed that way since it was close to that time. Along the way we looked at the topiary they were putting in to celebrate the Flower and Garden Festival. They were molded into Disney stories / characters. Such as one was Winnie the Pooh, 101 Dalmations, Lady and the Tramp, etc.. They looked pretty cool and I took pictures of some of them.
When we (Cookie, Sue, and myself) got to Le Cellier, which is in Canada, Milo and family (his wife, Lora; their daughter, son-in-law, 2 grand daughters and Milo's sister and brother-in-law - their names have escaped me, sorry) were there waiting for us. Shortly after we arrived Debbie and her hubby and 2 sons, Justin & Michael showed up. We had a large group, that is probably why lunch took over 2 hours. The restaurant was not that packed and it still took forever. The service was very slow, most of us decided that we would not eat there again. It just took too much of our park time away from us. The food was good, just would rather have spent more time in the park itself!
After lunch, Milo and family went their own way and the rest of us headed back to Test Track. Would we finally get to ride this time? Yes, the ride was back up.
We only waited about 15 mins to get on. Zoom zoom we went and then we stopped, right before we got into the hot room (good timing) the ride started back up after about a minute and we were off again....zooooom zooooom. I think I was screaming there at the end when we were flying around the track. It was a cool ride and I would do it again!!
After this fast ride most of us decided to head to Magic Kingdom since that was the only night they were doing Spectro Magic and the park was open till 9:30. We split up and went back to our rooms to freshen up for MK. Cookie decided to stay in the room and get some rest, she was coming down with a cold. Sue and I hopped the bus and to Magic Kingdom we went. The park was pretty busy for that time of day (5:00), lots of people were going in and out of the park. We headed to Buzz Lightyear, I had not ever been on this ride. The line was long so Fast Pass was the call. We decided to spend the wait time shopping, since most of the rides had long lines, back to Main Street we went. Neither of us bought anything but we sure found quite a few things we liked. Now if only our (rich) Prince would come. hee hee. Time to head back to Buzz, we were on in no time. It was a cool ride and I ended up with a score of something like 130,000 and Sue was over 480,000 - she said mine was not too bad for a first timer.
We headed towards the Castle and we got there just in time.....the Cinderella's Suprise Celebration was just starting. Who could resist that? It was a very cute show and I would recommend it. The kids would love it! It was time for the "Parade Queen" (as tagged by the DIS Tag Fairy) to find the perfect parade viewing spot. On the search for the perfect spot Sue got a Dole whip and I got a Mickey ice cream sandwhich to enjoy while we waited. We were sitting there when a lady walks up and asks Sue if she belongs to the DIS (Sue had on the Mickey head DIS pin that I made and gave out to everyone) and who she was. Sue introduced herself and then we found out this lady was Pumba, then I told her who I was. Then she was off, her family must not have seen her stop to talk to us - they were way ahead of her. (Hi Pumba, glad you stopped by for a second.
)
A short time after that Debbie and family joined us for the parade. The parade was nice, always liked the Spectro parades. After the parade Sue and I booked it over to Big Thunder Mountain in hopes that we could get right on. It was our lucky night, no wait at all and on the ride we went! This was the first time I rode this at night, I think I like it better at night! Spalsh Mountain was next on our list and there was not wait for this one either. We sat in the first row and needless to say, we got SOAKED!! After we got off of the ride the fireworks started so we got to see some of that. We were able to do 3 cool rides, see the parade and a show in about 5 hours so that was very productive!! Time to leave the park and let me tell you, strollers can be dangerous! No strike that, crazy people trying to race to the exit while pushing strollers are dangerous!! It was insane. Finally we made it to the resort buses, and in one peice and made it back to the hotel.
We got Cookie and headed to Tubbie's @ the Dolphin for a late night snack - we had not eaten since lunch @ 2:00 so we were hungry. WE sat there and chatted for a while and decided to make Animal Kingdom the park to do the next day. After a while we made it back to our hotel and I was out by around 11:30. Aww, much needed sleep, wanted to be up early the next day.
It was a long and very packed day but I enjoyed it so much.
