I have been saving the Disney Movie Rewards points for years and have over 7000 points. Today someone told me they tried to use their points and found out most of their points had expired. (The account total listed included expired and nonexpired points) Does anyone know if this is true? Why would the site keep a running total if you couldn't use them? I'm going to be very sad if I really can't use all my points.

If you don't check your account every 6-7 months, then yes they will expire due to inactivity. But a nice email to disney rewards and you could have them back.

I had over 6000 and they expired - I was saving them up for one of the larger items. I was NOT a happy camper AT ALL. I just said forget it and stopped doing it at all. It was beyond ridiculous to me that they would do that.

How did you know they were expired? Did they take them out of your account or did you find out when you tried to use them? Were you inactive for awhile like the above poster mentioned?

I went looking....

Interesting: "The Program begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") on October 3, 2006 and is scheduled to end at 11:59 p.m. ET on August 31, 2010 (the "Redemption Period"), but Sponsor reserves the right to shorten, extend, modify, or cancel the Program, at its discretion, at any time."

But more to the point of the question:

"Any points remaining in an Enrollee's Account which has remained inactive for a period of 270 days or more will be forfeited without compensation. Failure to log-in the Account constitutes inactivity for purposes of this condition."

Which sounds like all you need to do is log in every 8+ months or so, and your points/account will be considered active.

And no, not everyone saves 'em up.

that makes no sense! They have things on there for like 40000 points, it going to take more than a few years to get all those points if that is something you are aiming at KWIM? I am a huge Disney freak and own many DVDs and still have only 3000 points over a 1 year period.
ugh Disney, what are you doing? LOL

I literally just added points a month ago, but still got the email. This is stupid. Plus my account used to be inactive for much longer and i still have those old points

I got an email yesterday saying that they will expire and I too recently added movie tickets for points. So it's not due to inactivity....very strange.

I got an email as well, that my points will expire on Dec 21st unless I log in to my account and do one of the following:
1. Enter a Magic Code from a Blu-Ray or DVD
2. Get a digital movie on DisneyMoviesAnywhere.com
3. Redeem points for a reward
4. See an eligible movie in theaters

So it seems like they are now requiring more than just logging in to keep your account active and keep your points from expiring. I only have 974 points so I'll probably just cash out for something small, or if there is nothing for only a few points I'll cash out the whole lot and forget about it. I'm not going to make a purchase just to keep a few silly points.

I got one also today. My last activity was seeing Ant Man on 7/30 so wonder what's going on since that's less then 270 days.

Looking at the FAQ on their site says inactivity is not doing something that increases or decreases your point total every 210 days.

I entered a code from the Aladdin blu Ray a month ago and still got the message. I think they had a system glitch.

us too and just entered points last month. Crazy they are making you buy something again to keep them when I just did that? There is nothing I want in my point range right now :headache:

Disney Rewards posted on their Facebook page a few hours ago that this email saying your points are about to expire (I received the same one) was in error, but they aren't sure how the email got sent out.....so does that mean their site was hacked? Anyway, hang tight as they are looking into it and we should receive another email in the coming days explaining everything (and hopefully stating our points do NOT expire).
