My Disney Girl or American Girl? Opinions?

My daughters, 5 and 7, both are asking for American Girl dolls for Christmas. I was thinking of getting the My Disney Girl, but now am not sure. What do you all think?

DD6 has 2 American Girl dolls and one My Disney Girl doll. The American Girl dolls are much nicer and are of a much better quality. The only reason we got the Disney doll is because she received it at the Perfect Princess Party. The Disney doll has really nappy looking hair. We've tried using a wig brush on it (as recommended by American Girl) and it just gets frizzy and gross. DD never plays with her.

DD10 also has 2. Got her 1st one when she was 5 got 2nd one 2 Christmas ago when we went to the American Girl Doll Store in NY. We have not had any probles with them. The doll's hair is east to comb and to fix-up. My daughter loves them.

My girls have both the My Disney Girl doll and AG dolls. AG dolls are definitely much nicer and better quality. They got the Disney Girl dolls last Easter but the hair was so unruly that they hardly ever play with them. Maybe that's why I got such a deal on them from Disney online.

Anyone know if the MyDisneyGirl clothes fit the American Girl dolls? I think you've talked me out of getting a MDG doll now, but I'd like to have some Disney clothes for my AG's.

My daughter has 4 American Girl Dolls (just lucky I guess) 2 dolls & the twins. In April when we were at Disney I let her pick up a Cinderella Dress (thats what she picked out) for her American Girl doll......well...I read that it would fit, it says on the box for a 18" doll, but my daugher surely can't dress her in it & if I dress her in it much more I am afraid that the arms may get torn off. Sure it fits once it's on, it's getting it on thats the struggle! It does fit....but don't expect your daughter to get it on the doll.

DEFINITELY AG dolls! My kids have many of them. The thing about the AG doll is that they keep their value. Same with the clothing. Some things you have may be retired and if they are tired of it, you can about guarantee you'll get the same price for it if you ever wanted to sell. AND...AG has 3 stores, online and magazine ordering. I know a ton about it if you have any more Q's. Let us know what you decide! OH! And..the books are so good. I read them!

We also have both and I'd also say that the AG doll is better. Better constructed, more pleasant facial features, and MUCH nicer hair. We have put the Disney clothes on our AG dolls but they are a little snug - I think the body of the Disney doll is more slender even though the height is the same. And the shoes are a slightly different size/shape too.
